Chapter 635: Dense Muscles

"This is extraordinary." The doctor remarked as he looked at the result of the scan of Jace’s body. Jace was pulling on a shirt that he had to take off for the inspection of his body. The nearby female nurse was still drooling at the mouth. Forgetting she had other patients to attend to.

Jace chuckled as he winked at the nurse. "You are going to have to be far more specific." He turned to the doctor. "There are many things about me that are extraordinary."

"You are right about that. But at the moment I am talking about your muscle mass. Forget punching holes in metal. You could probably lift a small transport craft." The doctor remarked. "How are you not putting holes in everything?"

Jace raised an eyebrow. "I just control my strength. I do not necessarily need to constantly use my strength." Jace explained. "Am I all right to leave now?"

"Not yet, I have a question about your brain scan." The doctor switched gears as he held up a scan of Jace’s brain. "I am not completely sure but it looks like your mind is... overheating? Are you actively thinking about and using your abilities?"

"Yes to both. Does it look like it will cause injury?" Jace asked.

"I mean..." The doctor shrugged. "Do you feel feverish? Or have a headache?"

Jace shook his head.

"Then you are fine. A normal person’s mind would have melted but it looks like your mind has adapted and is constantly healing any excess damage. Although that will still have an effect on your mind. If you or someone else realizes your behavior is off, keep track of it." The doctor declared as he moved most of the physical files and scans to the side to be destroyed before tossing Jace a secure drive.

One that Jace caught and then glanced at. "Just for the record for my doctor, thanks doc."

"No problem. It was a privilege to even see this stuff." The doctor declared as a pair of guards picked up the physical files and then quickly moved out of the room. Jace remotely kept track of them so he could confirm that they would destroy his medical records. It did not take much thinking to split his mind to do that, even temporarily.

Jace climbed off the bed and moved to the door. "Make sure you follow the process specified in the other files during their check up as well." He left through the door and began moving through the unfamiliar facility. The rest of his team were still on the Lance of Thanatos and he was going to head back there now. He had to create a few weapons and ships for Salem and her facility.

They already had the discussion last night after the holo meeting. Then handed out orders to set up one of the cargo bays and a hangar for refugees. They could only take so many.

If they wanted to take more they could but it would compromise the safety of the Lance of Thanatos and the technology aboard. They were fortunate that the design of the UEE ships had the cargo holds near the hangars for ease of movement. They were also fortunate that the doors could be sealed for security. Otherwise Jace would have never willingly offered some space aboard the lance.

Now that it was the morning after he would head back to the cruiser to prepare everything. As for the fighter crafts he promised. Some of the more streamlined prototypes of the remote controlled drones. Along with a few fighter crafts with less capability than his own. Then one that nearly matches his, with a few changes to match Salem’s own abilities.

As he walked through the hall he stopped by the door that would lead to the tram line. He focused for a moment as he remotely watched the guards destroy his medical records. Then he stepped out and onto the tramline as a device on his wrist began beeping wildly.

He raised an eyebrow in surprise before answering with a thought. "This is Jace." It was still weird to not have a title. Agent worked for now, but his actual military title was suspended since he was not present for the transformation of the Victorium into the Spectre Galaxy Government. He was not too bothered with it since he still had control over Cerberus.

"This is the Lance’s Bridge." That was West’s voice. Their temporary communications officer. "The broadcast device has been repaired and we are moving along with the other repairs and the port side cargo hold and port side hangar are being used by the refugees and are locked down for security."

"Good." Jace answered, "is there a particular reason you are reaching out to me?"

"Yeah, we are short on materials for the rest of the repairs and the fighter craft you want to hand over. Do you want us to start prepping the Wyvern?" West asked.

Jace took a deep breath as he thought about it for a few moments before deciding on something. "Yes, go ahead and start preparing the ship. Victor and Jamal will join Shilla in the Wyvern. I will follow in the Hound’s Tooth for the sake of security." He took a breath before continuing. "Request permission to use the galactic network to scan for the resources we need and move the mining equipment to the Wyvern."

"Understood I will pass on the message. Um, is there any word on mine, Liz, and Eduta’s applications?" West asked. Referring to their applications for citizenship in this galaxy. It was usually not a priority, but Jace wanted to get it done so the Nano System update would not move them out of the galaxy once it was completed. He had already thought of the issue and consulted the system before they even returned to the galaxy.

Apparently when he activated the update it would move through all records, both digital and otherwise to confirm where people belong. So getting them citizenship became a priority. "Liz is fine. Her application went through fine, she just needs a standard debrief by a third party. Your application got flagged by MILD. They want to do a debrief and probably want to offer you a job. Eduta’s application got all sorts of flags. He is the first living and nonhostile Xenar they have encountered, political and military debriefs are necessary since we are still at ’war’ with the only known living Xenar left."

There was a few minutes of silence before she responded. "I will pass on the message." The connection was then cut off.

The tram pod started moving through the station. Jace did not even press any buttons to trigger it. He was just going through the first gate to get to the civilian area when his communicator beeped again. He checked it and a simple text message appeared.

Long range and routed through the Lance of Thanatos by the onboard AI. Completely bypassing the normal route of notifying the communications officer and having them pass on the message. But even more curious than the breach in protocols was the fact that someone had a way to contact him or even knew where he was.

He looked at the message and began laughing which continued to when he arrived at the outermost ring. Even earning him some odd stares from the guards as he walked out. The message was brief but explained a bit.

[Dear Torturer,

I am contacting you, after your ghost reached out to us, to inform you that your package has been delayed due to unforeseen circumstances. If the proper resources can be obtained it can be manufactured. In addition, the little interrogators are healthy and fine.

Yours truly,

Oily Otter.]

It was a short message but the hints were there and explained everything he needed to know. To start, it was a message sent by Solisa who used an Otter as her avatar. The ghost mentioned was the AI aboard his own ship, referred to as a ghost because of the hologram form it can take. Oddly it has not yet, nor has it made direct contact with them. Although it did just route this message to him.

There were two other parts to that message as well. The first of which mentioned the package and its unfinished state. That referred to the massive gravity drive that Hielo was supposed to be building. It seemed like they ran into a roadblock and needed help. Which is the main part of the message and probably the reason they reached out.

The second part of the message which was more of an afterthought. It mentioned little interrogators and he could only assume that it was his ’children’ that he had yet to meet.

He walked from the walkway to the Lance and boarded it. He moved toward the hangar where the material printer was located along with all of the ships. It should actually be fairly packed because they currently only had one hangar available.
