SSS Awakening: I Can Steal Attributes
Chapter 91: Grotesque And Picturesque
Afraid that it would force him to do something he did not want to again, Desther hurriedly checked the details of the new mission the Chosen One title provided.
[ Mission: Infestation! ]
[ Details: A heavy infestation of monsters has been detected around you. ]
[ Objective: Monsters? Kill! 0/500]
[ Reward: Free Attributes +100, Skill: Sense, +50 Skill Fragments ]
[ Time Limit: 1 week ]
[ Penalty: -50% Experience Points ]
Seeing that, Desther could not help but heave a sigh of relief. Although there was a penalty, it does not involve something like his death.
And besides, the reward for this mission was actually lucrative. The Free Attributes alone were already good enough for him. And there was a skill called Sense included in the reward as well.
Although he did not know the details regarding the skill yet, the name alone already pointed out some hints. He guessed that it might be related to scouting or about ’seeing’ things.
As for the Skill Fragments that don’t have any label, Desther assumed that it could be used to increase his Skill Fragment counts of any monster he chose.
Anyway, the objective of this mission was also simple enough as well.
It only requires him to kill 500 monsters.
There was no requirement on what kind of monster, and what level of monsters he needed to kill.
As long as they were monsters, they would be counted as part of his mission.
He just wondered if ’assist’ was also considered a kill, just like with his talent.
In any case, there was only one way to find out.
Ahead of them, the Ravenous Lizards were already waiting for him to add them to his monster kill count.
By his rough estimate, there should be around fifty Ravenous Lizards now feasting on their dumping site.
However, no matter how many they were, Desther was still confident in killing them all.
He was not being arrogant, but was just simply aware of his own strength.
Not to mention his extra Free Attributes he had yet to allocate, he could also steal some more from the Ravenous Lizards themselves, and also debuff them using Ultimate Thief talent.
Getting ganged up might be a nightmare to others, but for Desther, this was obviously a huge advantage.
The greater the number of his enemies, the more Free Attributes he would be able to steal.
Desther took out his two revolvers. The silver on his left, and the gold on his right.
"Are you sure we can do this?" Noah gulped a mouthful of saliva upon seeing the horde of Ravenous Lizards in front of them.
Although he had already grown courageous after countless fights with the Demon Bunnies, seeing a lot of monsters in one place still put him in his nerves.
Seeing his hesitation, Desther shook his head.
"No need. Just stay behind and watch. Try to kill the ones that tried to escape," he stated without a change of expression.
After reviewing his gear, Desther did not waste any more time and dashed toward the monsters without fear.
The moment he did so, the Ravenous Lizards immediately noticed his presence.
All of them hissed at the same time toward him, as if warning him not to come any closer.
Desther ignored their cries of warning and instead fired a salvo of bullets from his two revolvers.
Having trained both of his hands before, Desther hit the mark right on their target every time the trigger was pulled.
As the sound of the guns echoed, the Ravenous Lizards could no longer take the insult and charged toward him madly.
Bullets after bullets were fired one after the other.
Blood spurted out as Ravenous Lizards were hit mercilessly around their body. A moving target was obviously hard to hit, but the bullet released from his revolver seemed to have a homing capacity attached to it.
Every pull of the trigger, Ravenous Lizards would either fall right there and then, or limp their way forward.
When the champers were emptied, Desther did not waste time reloading.
Instead, while still holding the revolver, he used his Magic Bullet skill and fired toward the distant target.
As expected, it hit the mark with great precision.
Those that were killed first, were obviously the ones he had marked with his Theft Mark. These were Free Attributes, he obviously would not waste them.
But unlike earlier, no sound came out of the revolver’s muzzles but a bullet still traveled toward the target.
Due to his insanely high attributes, the fire power of his Magic Bullets were no longer as weak as before.
Calling it a weak missile would not be an understatement either.
Every time the Magic Bullets shits a Ravenous Lizard, their head or even their entire body would be torn apart as if meat ground in a grinding machine.
As he kept on firing with his revolvers and Magic Bullets, the Ravenous Lizards that finally arrived in front of him lunged forward to attack him.
Various skills, glowing tails and strange sounds coming out of their nose was hurled toward him.
With his high attributes, these skills could never land on him.
His footwork was good to begin with. Coupled with his high agility attribute, dodging and evading the Ravenous Lizards’ attack was as easy as breathing for Desther.
As he continued to use the powerful Magic Bullet, an epiphany seemed to have appeared on his mind.
All of a sudden, he felt great understanding regarding the skill.
’So, that’s how you can control its damage output!’
Desther exclaimed inwardly as he lowered the volume of mana he tried to use on the skill.
Although transparent, Desther immediately noticed that the Magic Bullets formed this time seemed to be weaker compared to the ones he released earlier.
Without wasting any time, he finally released this new Magic Bullet forward, hitting a Ravenous Lizard that was about to jump toward him.
Since the Magic Bullet was weakened, the body of that Ravenous Lizard did not blow off. Instead, a bloody hole appeared on its back.
Although the Magic Bullet was weakened considerably, the monsters were still one-hit-deleted since his attributes were all over a hundred.
From his Theft Talent, Desther also realized that the adult Ravenous Lizard’s highest attribute was their VIT at around 10 to 15 while their level was around 4 to 7. For each Ravenous Lizard he kills, he would be able to expect 5 or more Free Attributes.
Meanwhile, Noah looked at the scene in front of him incredulously.
Killing one or two such monsters was already impressive enough, but Desther was just casually pointing his gun toward a particular direction and the next moment, he would see a Ravenous Lizard in that area either bursting out into a puddle of blood or their body suddenly having a bloody hole.
Desther’s movements were quite swift. Noah could hardly follow his movements. It felt like he was just watching a movie where the main character was just casually moving around in blur while constantly killing monsters left and right.
Dancing like a reaper among the monster’s horde, Noah’s heart thumped like a drum trying to take over his body.
All he could hear was his heartbeat, and in every beat, a monster would be slain without mercy.
No matter how grotesque, Noah felt the scene was picturesque.
The contrast and the conflict inside his mind was very extraordinary.
But no matter the answer to that conflict, he knew for a fact, and he realized as of this moment, that Desther, was truly a league of his own.
Top 1 in the rankings? Top 1 in the school?
If there was any other student like him around the world, Noah would gladly eat shit.
It was also at this moment that Noah had a sudden realization, and determination.
’This thick thigh... I must cling to it even at the end.’
Who the fuck said that a weak could not rely on the strong?
Who the fuck said the side characters could not support the main character?
Could not keep up with the main character’s leveling speed?
Why even compete with them anyway.
If he could just become the main character’s lackey, even if it only meant just carrying things for them, Noah would gladly do it even without a wage.
Unbeknownst to Noah, the scene that he was seeing as of this moment, was the direct trigger that allowed him to change his, and his family’s fate.
After a few minutes, Noah woke up from his daze and realized that the surroundings had already settled down.
The transition from chaos to quiet was quite sudden, yet at the same time, a definite conclusion.
Amidst the blood and gore stood Desther.
Holding two revolvers, silver and gold with his usual black and white hoodie and pants.
Strangely enough, the blood and gore was too dense, yet, the only part of his body that was covered in blood seemed to be only his feet that stepped on the corpses of those monsters he just eliminated.
Desther was leaning to the side slightly. His arms were down holding the two revolvers, with blood and gore directly beneath his feet.
Seeing such a picturesque scene, Noah could not help but take out his phone and snap a few pictures.
At the same moment, Desther turned his head toward Noah.
Noah’s heart thumped as he felt a suffocating coldness envelope his entire body.
Desther eyed him for a brief moment before relaxing. His gaze turned to normal as he walked toward Noah.
"What are you waiting for? Record them for the points!"
