SSS Awakening: Starting With Infinite Soul Copy
Chapter 108: Sowing Discord (II)
"I’m Wallace, an Otherworld King from The Blue of Heathanor."
The blue-haired man, finally introduced as Viktor, fell silent, his eyes rolling as though trying to search his memory for any history of it.
"The Blue of Heathanor..."
He mused as Wallace stared at him intensely.
"Actually, never heard of that... Must be some unimportant place."
"Hahaha."
King Kaedal chuckled by the side, but quickly fell silent when he felt the soul-piercing gaze of King Wallace.
"Now, with the introduction out of the way, and a bit more cordiality in the air..."
"May I ask what exactly we plan on doing with this world? I mean..."
He paused, then leaned closer, his eyes shifting faintly toward the group of Supernaturals.
"With them."
He completed.
"We only just formed an alliance for the purpose—"
King Kaedal tried to say, but he was silenced by King Wallace’s piercing gaze once more.
"What is it again, Wallace?"
"Do you mind if I take this discussion with him?"
"I will not have my words silenced."
Kaedal shot back.
He was already at his wits’ end with him, and now he was trying to stop him from talking.
Now that was obviously going a bit too far.
All of this Viktor watched while reclining, observing as they bantered and the exchange grew heated.
"Is this your plan..."
White’s voice echoed in Viktor’s head.
"To create a wedge in their relationship?" 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺
’Judging by your tone, I can tell you’re not very amused.’
Viktor replied.
"I’m not."
White admitted.
"I’d prefer to feign cordiality, earn their trust, let their guards drop, and one day use it to take their heads with ease. That’s better than all this... games."
’So, befriend and betray, huh.’
"It’s a solid plan."
White responded in his head.
’It is... but where’s the fun in that? Just watch.’
Viktor replied, turning his attention back to the skirmish, which had reduced a bit.
"I swear this on my Kingly Soul, King Kaedal..."
Wallace said, finally, taking a breath.
"Give me this time with him, and on my Kingly Soul, I promise to fulfill one future request of yours... no compromise."
Wallace said as King Kaedal’s eyes narrowed to points before he eventually hmphed.
"You’d better remember this is a promise on your Soul."
He said before ignoring them both, pouring juice into his cup, and taking a sip with closed eyes.
"Much as I’d try to steer from a boring questioning discussion, it seems like it’s finally gone that way with you."
Viktor said, taking a sip as he looked at King Wallace, who now had suspicion written all over his face.
"So what is it, King Wallace? What do you suspect me of?"
"I didn’t see you during the war against the Aether Beyonders. You’re an Otherworld King. If you had used any power at all during that fight, you would have been immediately noticed."
"How did you escape everyone’s attention, yet suddenly pop up after the war ended?"
"I want to believe you’re a plan of one of those Humans to sabotage all of this!"
King Wallace said, and it seemed his suspicion had rubbed off on King Kaedal, who now had his eyes opened and narrowed in thought.
"Actually..."
Viktor said, but then turned his neck to the far side, his gaze settling on an Otherworlder.
"Seeing as you are, I’m not sure you’d believe a word from my mouth, true or false. So we might as well all hear from the horse’s mouth, hmm?"
Viktor said, narrowing his stare at the back of an Otherworlder who turned his head as Viktor raised a hand, signaling him to come.
The Otherworlder came closer, and he was none other than Huracan, the one who had brought Viktor.
"I’m guessing one of you must have a loyalty oath with this Otherworlder here, in which case you’d be able to detect his lie. Which of you has it?"
Viktor asked as King Kaedal turned his eyes to King Wallace.
"Now that’s even better."
"Tell them, Huracan, why I wasn’t fighting in that war, and how you came by me."
He said, and Huracan narrated the whole ordeal before both Kings, not leaving a single word out.
When he was done, Viktor waved him away before turning to King Wallace.
"So you were able to take over the body of a student who was protected from being destroyed by being in the runic coffin."
"He fought the two Otherworlders that Huracan was sent to capture him with and killed them, but he was weakened enough for you to take his body. Huracan brought you here afterward."
King Wallace summarized.
"A lousy action on my part that I have to call out..."
Viktor said, continuing,
"In all honesty, I arrived here and saw you all having the meeting. I could have joined in then and learned everything myself, but I didn’t."
"And why is that?"
King Wallace asked in his usual suspicion.
"I just happened to be tied by this golden-eyed beauty, you see. It’d be a lack of manners to leave such a heavenly beauty standing. Don’t you think so yourself, King Wallace?"
Viktor asked with a chuckle.
"I don’t think so myself, Viktor, neither do I believe that."
"Actually, yes. That was just a side reason. The real reason is how I imagined such a meeting would have gone."
"Imagine someone suddenly popping into an alliance meeting between two races, claiming he deserves a place simply because he’s a King like the rest, well, two of the rest, of course."
"It wouldn’t leave a good image, so I decided to wait it out, believing it was only a matter of time before I introduced myself and had the discussion recalled to me by my fellow Otherworld King."
"Pity my good manners earned me suspicion instead..."
He said as King Kaedal turned to look at Wallace, who folded back quietly in his seat.
"But... I can take that as punishment for arriving late and look past that."
"Now, as a latecomer forgiven, I want every piece of the meeting."
Viktor asked, a reasonable request, but not so to King Wallace.
"And why would you want that? What is your real aim?"
