Chapter 113: Humanity Ascension Commander’s Questioning
"We are 3rd Grade Commanders of Humanity Ascension, specifically responsible for Outer-Ranks Academy Management."
"By Outer-Ranks Academy, I mean academies that are, for one reason or another, not placed on Humanity’s Academy Ranking, an example of that being the now non-existent Aether Beyonders Academy."
She answered, and White nodded, confirming his suspicions.
Seeing the badge on that Medisla’s cloth had made him suspicious that he was currently in the hands of Humanity Ascension.
Their introduction has now just confirmed it.
"White, I know you have a lot of questions right now, some of which I believe are how you’re even alive right now, why exactly you’re in that state, and many more."
"But firstly, I have some questions I’ll need you to answer before I can give you those replies."
"Do you understand my request, White?"
"I do," White replied curtly.
"And... do you understand that I’ll need you to be as honest as possible with all of these questions?" she asked further.
"Unless telling the truth will have me destroyed, then I would be as honest as I can," he responded.
His answer sent some of the Commanders’ brows drawing in suspicion, but it quickly relaxed.
The answer might not have been what they wanted to hear, but it was what they knew would happen.
It would have been dishonest if he had said he would answer everything honestly, when there exists the chance of the truth hurting him.
"I’m glad you understand. Now, to the first question."
She said, and in the next moment opened her palm as a projection came up, turning into strands of light that fell downwards.
It pierced into the orb, arriving before White, who tapped it, watching as panels after panels bloomed before him.
They revealed images that were familiar to him.
"Do you know this place, White?"
"I do."
"Where is it?"
"Aether Beyonders Academy. Before and after it was destroyed."
He replied as the images merged back and floated out of the orb.
"By our information, we have learned that no instructors or students survived this destruction, except for you."
"Is this true?" she asked.
"Half-true," White responded.
"May I ask you to elaborate on what you mean by ’half-true’?"
"No students survived, that much is true."
White didn’t really see a student like him in the academy except for those three he had first encountered.
"But some instructors did, though they can’t really be called instructors anymore, as their minds and bodies have already been fully taken over by the Otherworlders they fused with."
He responded, watching as the Commanders’ brows creased, though not with much shock, as if his words only confirmed things.
"And what makes you so certain these instructors are no longer human?" she asked.
"They might have been indistinguishable from humans before, but when the Supernatural attacks happened, they chose to side with them and revealed their true forms."
"Dark veins, dark wings, and dark eyes are only some of the clear features."
"But most importantly, they chose to side with the Supernaturals. That is enough to declare them as non-human."
He spoke.
There was silence in the hall for a while, with all of the Commanders staring at each other.
It only took White a moment before he realized what was happening.
The Commanders were talking among themselves through telepathy, leaving him unable to hear anything.
After a while, they nodded to the woman, who continued.
"May I ask how you managed to survive the destruction that killed all the students and most of the instructors?" she asked.
"Because I was still new at the academy, I decided to go into the coffin, where the Otherworld Dream cultivation takes place."
"And even when the mountain was crushed, I remained safe, protected by the runes on the coffin along with the coffin itself."
"I was able to push open the broken mountain and come out alive. That’s how I survived."
He recounted.
"According to our information, there was a large quantity of Limitless Energy detected from the Supernaturals’ mothership before it crashed."
"Can I take it that that was you? That you were the Limitless User on board the ship?" she asked.
"Yes. I am the one," he answered.
"And how did you get on the ship? Why didn’t the Otherworlders or Supernaturals kill you at first sight?" she asked.
"Because I can look like one of them," he answered, watching the Commanders pause.
"Look like one of them?"
"Yes. Some features discern Otherworlders from humans, dark eyes included."
"I can shift my eye color from dark to crimson-dark, enough to fool Supernaturals and Otherworlders into believing I am one of them."
"With that, I was able to gain access to the mothership."
He said, but noticed the doubt in the Commander’s eyes.
"And how can you change your eye color? You’re a Limitless User," another Commander asked.
"If you can pull up some of my fighting challenge scenes back in Xtremecyber, you’ll be able to see that my eyes change color when I get focused," he said, watching as panels quickly appeared before the Commanders.
’It’s insane how fast they can pull that type of information out, almost like everything gets reported to them.’
White thought quietly.
"It’s confirmed," she said.
"So, you fooled the Otherworlders and gained access to the ship."
"Yes."
"According to a clear aerial sighting, we witnessed a massive pseudo-black hole open up on the Supernaturals’ mothership that led to it crashing."
"That pseudo-black hole was scanned to be a result of a Limitless Skill called Limitless Collapse."
"Since you were the only Limitless User on the ship, can we take it that it was you who unleashed that pseudo-black hole?" she asked.
"Yes. It was me."
"Why did you do that? Was your life in danger at that time? Or was your true identity revealed?" she asked.
"No. Nothing of that sort happened. I wasn’t discovered, nor was my life threatened."
"Then why?" she asked.
There was silence, a long silence as White found himself asking why?
He knew why?
It was just him being him.
But how could he explain that to the Humanity Ascension Commanders without sounding like the mad regressor that he was?
