SSS Awakening: Starting With Infinite Soul Copy
Chapter 136: Into an Alpha Lair (I)
He had stood too expectantly, waiting for the magic of an emissary of a Primordial Wolf.
His guard had been completely dropped, and with White’s back faced to him, the Lord Berserker did not expect any attack whatsoever.
That was why, when the massive wing suddenly tore out from White’s back and cleaved his throat, all he did was stare in confusion as his head spun into the sky before landing on the ground with a thump, rolling over to the legs of the rest of the Berserkers.
"Lord... Lord Bersk is dead!?"
One of the dozen Berserkers said in disbelief, before in the next moment their eyes began burning a deep yellow.
"ATTACK!"
They roared out, and in the next moment bone spears appeared in their palms as they rushed forward toward White, who chuckled.
RIIIIIIIIIP!
Another heavy sound of the air being ripped to pieces rang out, and a second massive wing burst out from his back, longer than seven meters.
They were like blades, roughly slashing at the approaching Berserkers.
Four of the twelve were instantly cut down, and the eight who reached White immediately pierced their spears toward his back.
Except when they reached five centimeters from piercing into him, they all paused in the air as if held by something.
"What is—"
That question wasn’t completed when the massive wings folded inward and three more heads soared into the sky.
This left five, who rolled away, barely dodging the wings, when—
VROOOOOOOM!
Both wings flapped once, sending a blast of air so powerful they were instantly lifted off their feet and sent flying away.
Three of them smashed into the mountainous walls and were blown into gore from the impact.
One Berserker fell down a waterfall, and the last was blown far into the distance.
"That might be a problem..."
White mused beneath his breath, looking at the Berserker who crawled up to one knee and tried to walk away, only to fall down once more, pick himself up, then fall again.
White raised his hand, but seeing that happen again and again, he shrugged it off, taking his hand back and focusing on the entrance of the cave before him.
Runes in this world weren’t just erratic symbols with no meaning. White knew that much.
While they weren’t very common back in the Human World, where the majority of things were done through Essence cultivation, and the United Earth Federation in White’s past life wasn’t exactly an academic theory school, Xtremecyber had tried to teach it—tried to make the students understand it and decipher it.
Though White hadn’t stayed long enough for that to happen.
Still, he knew these runes acted as a form of protection against invasion.
If this didn’t exist, then the Berserkers would have probably ransacked the entire cave for whatever they could find, perhaps even destroy it.
Though that now created a question. How was he supposed to bypass the runes and the door?
Push?
That sounded obvious, but according to his senses, it was stupid.
Something told him that if he touched these runes, he wouldn’t forget until his death what would happen next.
So in the end, he came up with something... genius.
Reaching out with his right hand, his fingers took the shape of a gun that paused one inch away from the runes carved onto the wall.
Activate Limitless Collapse.
The world stilled, and then darkness appeared at a point before rapidly spilling out.
White didn’t wait this time.
The second the darkness began to spread, he was twenty meters away in a single flash, looking at things unfold from behind.
The darkness spread fast, and the runes on the Alpha Lair reacted.
Red lightning began to coalesce. The clouds up in the sky quickly gathered together, and in their depths a flash of crimson rapidly formed.
CRAAACKLE!
A powerful crackling rang out as a pillar of red lightning blasted down onto the vortex.
It slammed into it, shaking the ground with raw power that made it seem like an earthquake had descended. Yet a second after that—
COLLAPSE!
White ordered, and then—
KAAAAABOOOOOOOM!
The vortex, having absorbed the red pillar of lightning, released everything at once.
There was power in it—something about the collapse that didn’t resemble the ordinary collapse.
Space wasn’t simply flinging out what was inside it and resetting. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
It was fighting back, in the shape of the darkness starting to spiral, and from the depths of it an inescapable rushing force blasted out.
It completely ripped apart the descending pillar of lightning, traveled down through it and dispersed the clouds into nothing before slamming into the wall of the now-destroyed cave.
The irregular phenomenon of descending lightning and a pseudo black hole continued for about a minute before everything came to silence.
White stepped closer, his wings flapping once and dispersing the dust.
Now he could see.
The runes on the cave were long gone, and the entrance to the cave was covered in cracks, looking like it could crumble at any moment.
Still, the sight made White’s heart shake.
He had basically unleashed a black hole at the door, and somehow it was still standing.
I wonder what power level the Werewolf who drew these runes must be at...
White mused to himself before his wings reached out, slamming into the cracks on the door.
It all came rumbling down right after that, and before White was a world of darkness.
The feeling it gave him was like a beast opening up its maw, and if he should enter, he would be stepping into that maw.
But a hazy feeling wouldn’t stop him after he had come all this way.
He fully stepped into the cave, walking a few meters, only to suddenly freeze.
He turned his head back with speed, his eyes narrowing when he discovered it.
It’s gone.
The entrance that he had just used to enter the cave was gone.
Now there was nothing but darkness, though in this darkness he was able to see clearly, and he could still feel that he was in something narrow.
He was still here in the Alpha Lair, and he was getting a feeling.
’There’s something here...’
