Chapter 114: The Bum and The Coordinator

Never had Killian seen three chandeliers within a room that was spanned six times the size of his own. His eyes darted about the intricate designs on the walls, and impossible architecture of the beams.

He looked at the furniture and tiles wearily wondering if they were durable enough to hold weight with how fragile they looked. The place just looked too lavish to belong to students staying less than a month for a trial.

Killian sighed internally. ’At least, since we are just four in a room, the chances of living with a Light User have reduced greatly.’

"Ah, it’s another bum from the countryside."

A small voice snapped Killian from his thoughts. He looked behind him at first in case the said ’bum’ was walking into the room, before slowly turning his head forward when he realized.

He was the bum.

Killian’s ears burned in embarrassment as he quietly walked away from the door towards the empty bed that should be his.

Reginald shook his head, looking at the boy that had spoken. "Arisa, you should be nicer. What if he actually beats you up?"

The boy leapt up from his bed, the fluffy blanket around his body rising up with him. "Huh? You think he would dare! Huh! Well, if you have something to say to me, why not say it, Reginald!"

"I have something to say!" another boy slammed the door open, and stomped to the boy standing on his bed. "Did you use my soap again! I noticed it was wet when I went to the stall right now!"

The other boy slowly sat on his bed. "Uh, well, I couldn’t find mine—"

"How many times have I told you not to do that!!"

Killian fell face down on his bed, and squeezed the pillow over his head. His eyes were already tearing up from how much loud sounds filtered into his ears.

He had never been around so many boys his age like these before, and his older sister’s words suddenly felt like a lie. Dorms weren’t fun. And everyone wasn’t so sweet.

He had been bullied while still at the door and now his ears threatened to fall off. His sister was very wrong, unless the female dormitories were more distinguished than where he was.

Someone screamed as a brawl started within the room. Killian sunk lower into the bed. "This is Dorm Dragon for a reason. Everyone is just so loud," he muttered, barely hearing himself.

"You heard the guy. Now keep shut," a voice said, it was quiet but oddly audible within the chaos.

Then the room instantly fell silent. Killian paused, wondering if he just lost his hearing or the boys suddenly lost their voices. He pulled the pillow from his face.

A hand was reaching for his face all of a sudden, and he rolled away, before sitting up. The person stopped mid-motion and stepped back.

They moved their long dress away from the bed and held their cheek. "Ah, sorry. I thought you were having a panic attack in there. Are you alright?"

Killian looked them over once, confirmed it was a male despite the light voice, and then hugged his pillow. "I am alright. Are you the coordinator for this room?"

Because he knew there were already four members in the room and he would feel better if there was no other member, especially one that looked like that.

"Yes," the coordinator smiled, and gently pulled his long hair behind his ears. "I am. Nice to meet you. Can I know your name?"

Killian looked at the bed that already had his initials, GW. He practiced breathing in and out before answering.

The choice of the universe giving him another femboy as an overseer of his daily works while in this academy felt like an extended punishment.

He wouldn’t help but avoid this innocent coordinator because of his memories of George. ’Also, was he trying to touch my pillow? It seemed he also had no sense of personal space.’

The coordinator hummed, before his smile faded. He turned to the rest who were already on their beds, seated quietly.

"It seems your rabid barking took away the cognitive thinking of our new friend. What should I do with all of you?" He laughed softly.

Killian scowled at those words. Didn’t the coordinator just insult everyone in the room, including him, but the silence made Killian understand that he shouldn’t complain.

Like George, this coordinator might just be a pretty package holding a very violent strength that he couldn’t bear to offend. Also, if this room belonged to wealthy arrogant boys, then it was only natural to appoint a wealthier arrogant coordinator to contain them.

"My name is Killian. I am sorry. My ears were still ringing." Killian answered, and made sure to play the victim.

The coordinator turned back to him and the smile returned to his face. "That’s alright. You can always use your bell beside your bed when they go out of place. At least you have manners."

Reginald raised a hand, while not looking the coordinator in the face. When the coordinator looked away from Killian, his smile faded again. "And what does Dog 2 want?"

Killian shrunk. Dog 2 was an awful nickname. ’I take it back. This guy is nothing like George. George is far nicer.’

Reginald lowered his hand after he was allowed to speak. "I am offering to handle Killian’s orientation around the academy. Since you will be busy soon with the Rulers’ visit."

The atmosphere in the room grew a little tense, for more reasons than one. The other two members gritted their teeth at not jumping at the opportunity to steal the coordinator’s favor by making his workload easier.

While Killian froze because the Rulers’ visiting meant that this year, the Supreme Rulers of his realm would be watching the trials.

They usually sent out representatives but a few times, they did come themselves. He swallowed hard. The most powerful Mortals and Users of Light would be coming to him now.

’And goodness help me if they come with an angel or something. I will be identified at the spot.’

Killian’s grip around his pillow tightened and he pulled it towards his chest.
