Chapter 858: This Is Not Your Fault

Yuslev was a Bishop Rank I, and this meant he was on the same level as an SSS Rank monster. But Jason could still see Yuslev grimacing slightly from the sheer pressure surrounding him. Thankfully, it looked like Yuslev could handle the pressure well enough, and Jason gave him the same order as the previous Machina before he sent him on his way.

Yuslev took off into the sky and entered the Blue Gate, and Jason watched for a few seconds to make sure that Yuslev survived the journey before Jason turned and began walking away from the gate. Yuslev would send Jason his findings later, but for now, Jason needed to meet with the superhumans and discuss how they would handle this Gate.

....

The news of the Blue Gate spread across the world faster than anyone could have ever imagined! Satellite images and Magicule readings from various agencies allowed the public to learn about the sudden surge of mana in the region around the Sahara Desert, and since the Gate was so large, it could even be seen and felt from hundreds of miles away in Egypt, so there was no way the government could hide the emergence of the Gate from anyone!

Over the next two days, the governments of the world set up a massive barricade around the Blue Gate to prevent anyone from getting close to it, and there were thousands of scientists from all over the world who were called in to take the Magicule reading and predict just how powerful the monsters inside the Gate would be. And what the scientists found only managed to put even more fear into the hearts of all the civilians. The average rating for a Red Gate was about five hundred Magicules, while the ratings for Orange and Yellow Gates were about five thousand and thirty thousand Magicules, respectively! The Green Gate that had appeared ten years ago had a rating of over two hundred thousand Magicules, but this Blue Gate blew all of them out of the water! From what the scientists reported to the media, the Magicule rating was higher than one million! The scientists didn’t give an exact number, but just that estimate alone was enough to put the fear of God into the hearts of the entire world!

With a reading like that, everyone knew that a Gate Break from this Blue Gate would spell the apocalypse for them! Whatever was on the other side of that Gate was something no one wanted to face, and they all knew that they had to deal with this problem inside the Gate as soon as possible to prevent a Gate Break that could affect the rest of the world! Many political figures came forward over the next few days after Jason had discovered the Gate, and they announced that they would be sending their strongest superhumans to Jason so that they could talk about a strategy for what to do next! The world was still reeling from the Machina attack that had happened, but as things were now, no one was in any position to complain about what had happened! The Machina that attacked them had been totally unexpected, and none of the Country Guild superhumans could do anything about even one of those Machina! The superhumans would’ve all been killed if not for Jason’s subordinates stepping in as well, so the superhumans knew that they all owed their lives to Jason!

Before today, there had been many superhumans who felt skeptical about what Jason was trying to do to them. Jason had been pushing the superhumans to get stronger by going into more Gates, and there were some superhumans who didn’t think it was necessary! The superhumans lived a very privileged life on Earth! They were popular and powerful, and they had both money and prestige, so why would they need to increase the risk to their life by going into Gates just to get slightly stronger when their lives were already so perfect?! But after this attack by the Machina, the superhumans realised just how wrong they had been! This attack had been carried out by a very small number of Machina! There were only about five of them in every country that was attacked, and yet, there was nothing the superhumans could do against them! The superhumans had been completely helpless, and if not for Jason stepping in, then there was no doubt that the Machina would’ve absolutely eradicated entire countries from the map!

This was an attack carried out by a few basic soldiers from a world that had already been massacred by Jason, and yet the humans had struggled this much against them! The superhumans couldn’t even begin to imagine what things would be like if they were attacked by a world in its prime that actually had the strength to carry out a full-scale war! Not only would the superhumans lose badly, but the entire world would be eradicated faster than anyone could even blink! This was the reason why Jason had been asking the superhumans to put more focus into their training! And it was only now that the superhumans understood Jason’s reasoning! Jason was the only one who had been out there in the Primordial Expanse, and Jason had seen things that the other superhumans couldn’t even begin to fathom! Listening to Jason became the number one priority for every superhuman!

There were repairs being done across major cities in the world due to the Machina attack, and although there had been millions of casualties from the attacks, there was no single country that suffered too much since Jason had stepped in early! Most cities had only suffered casualties in the thousands or hundreds of thousands, and there were some cities where barely a thousand people died! The real damage done to the world was the infrastructural damage that would cost billions to repair, and although there were some countries that grumbled about having to spend so much money without warning, everyone was glad that the damage done was still minimal.

After that battle, Jason made sure Azrael sped up his work on the planet-wide interworld travel block. The rune that would prevent anyone from entering Earth is something that Azrael had already been working on for a long time, but Azrael hadn’t finished it yet by the time the Machina attacked, so the Machina were able to enter Earth without any issues at all! In a way, Jason blamed himself for what had happened. Jason should’ve kept a closer eye on the Machina since he knew that the Machina were still feeling vindictive about what he did to their race! Jason shouldn’t have underestimated the Machina so much, and he should’ve been ready for something like this! Even though the Machina were now mostly eradicated, they were once one of the most powerful races in this Domain, so an invasion of this scale was nothing to them!

When Gina heard Jason saying this to her when they were in bed together one night, Gina immediately shut Jason down and told him that none of this was his fault! Jason had been occupied with a thousand different things for the past month, so there was no way he could have also been looking into the Machina at the same time! Gina made sure that Jason knew he hadn’t done anything wrong, and even though Jason smiled at Gina thankfully, Gina could tell that Jason was still angry that he hadn’t predicted this happening. Jason was always hard on himself, but now that he was the leader of this new world, Gina could tell that Jason was almost twice as hard on himself as before. It was like Jason didn’t want to ever make any mistakes!

"You’re not perfect, Jason. No one is. You’re just one man, and your subordinates are only one Legion. Even you, with all your power and reach, can’t predict everything that’ll happen in the world. You need to understand this."
