Chapter 55: Glitching a S-Rank Hex-Shield...

Zen stared into the barrel of the charging cannon and held his breath as the lethal energy reached its peak.

But he didn’t try to block or run backward.

Channeling the tiny sliver of S-Rank ’Shadow’ mana he had stolen from Nyx directly into his calves, Zen exploded to the side a fraction of a millisecond before the cannon fired.

A blinding beam of yellow Void energy and purple Omni mana erased the space where his head had just been, instantly vaporizing the server rack behind him into molten slag.

The residual heat singed the edges of his jacket, but Zen was already moving.

"System," Zen commanded, his mind racing at hyper-speed. "The hex-shield is predictive. It shifts its mass to intercept kinetic trajectories. How do I bypass it?"\

[Analysis: Shield utilizes Spymaster-Class Omni algorithms. It calculates velocity and angle to reinforce impact zones in 0.002 seconds.]

[Solution: Disrupt the predictive algorithm. Enemy AI will hesitate if it detects friendly S-Rank Omni-signatures.]

Zen narrowed his eyes. Nyx’s mana.

The boss didn’t give him time to plan. It ripped a massive steel girder from the wall and swung it like a bat, destroying the entire left side of the room.

Zen vaulted over the sweeping debris, landing lightly on the cracked floor, and immediately dashed back into the monster’s guard.

This wasn’t a fight about who was more powerful; it was more like a high-IQ game of inches and angles.

Zen launched a flurry of strikes, using a mix of feints, half-swings, and rapid thrusts. The boss’s hex-shield flickered frantically as its hard-light honeycombs shifted to block every single blow.

Clang. Clang. Clang.

Shockwaves traveled up Zen’s arms, and his muscles screamed from the strain of fighting a creature that was physically far stronger than his High E-Rank body.

The boss retaliated with a devastating backhand.

Zen ducked, but the wind pressure of the strike alone threw him off balance. The hybrid monster followed up with a brutal knee strike.

Zen barely managed to bring the flat of his blade up in time. The impact sent him skidding fifteen feet across the grated floor, his boots sparking against the metal.

[Warning: Minor rib fracture detected. Core integrity at 81%.]

ScrapRat99: He can’t break the shield! The boss is just going to wear him down!

NeonJunkie: He needs to retreat! Chat, tell him to retreat!

Zen spat a glob of blood onto the floor inside his mask. He wasn’t retreating.

He gripped the hilt of his sword with both hands and consciously drew out the dark, cool energy of the ’Shadow’ fragment resting in his core. The crystalline blade instantly shifted, taking on a deep, violent purple hue. It hummed with the exact same frequency as the Omni Domain itself.

The Zone Boss charged again, raising its massive fists to crush him.

Zen stepped directly into the attack.

He threw a wide, horizontal slash aimed at the beast’s waist. The boss’s predictive AI instantly read the trajectory and shifted 80% of its hex-shield to its midsection to block the blow.

But Zen didn’t follow through.

Mid-swing, defying all laws of kinetic momentum, he abruptly halted the blade, dropped his center of gravity, and lunged upward.

He thrust the purple-glowing sword directly toward the creature’s exposed neck.

The hex-shield algorithm panicked.

It tried to shift the shields upward to block, but the moment the shield sensors detected the S-Rank ’Shadow’ mana coating Zen’s blade, a micro-second of lag hit its system. It registered the attack as a "friendly" Spymaster protocol.

That micro-second was all Zen needed.

The blade slipped through the shifting hard-light plates and sank deep into the hybrid’s shoulder joint, severing a bundle of thick, glowing hydraulic cables.

The boss roared in agony, its right arm dropping uselessly to its side.

AlleyDoc: DID HE JUST GLITCH ITS SHIELD?!

EliteVanguard_7: That’s impossible! You can’t out-process a an advanced algorithm with just a sword!

"Watch me," Zen breathed heavily.

The beast was enraged now. Ignoring its severed arm, it opened the corrupted cannon in its chest once again.

But this time, it didn’t wait to charge a focused beam. It began firing rapid, volatile blasts of Void energy across the entire room, turning the server hub into a blazing inferno.

Zen used the Emperor’s Stride to weave through the blasts. He slid under the energy attacks, ran along the walls of falling debris, and got closer little by little. His stamina was dropping, and he was struggling to catch his breath, but his eyes stayed fixed on the glowing cannon in the middle of the boss’s chest.

"The chest plates have to pull back for the cannon to fire," Zen calculated. "That’s the only time the core is exposed."

[Warning: Host stamina critical. Next maneuver must be decisive.]

Zen stopped dodging sideways. Instead, he sprinted directly at the towering monster.

The boss locked its targeting array on him. The chest cannon flared to maximum capacity, the sickly yellow light illuminating the entire room.

ScrapRat99: WHAT IS HE DOING?!

At the exact millisecond the cannon fired, Zen threw his body into a slide across the smooth, metallic floor, leaning so far back his shoulders scraped the ground.

The lethal beam of energy scorched the air mere inches above his face mask.

Using the momentum of his slide, Zen kicked hard off a bolted server rack, launching himself upward right into the beast’s guard.

Before the chest plates could snap shut, Zen grabbed the searing-hot rim of the cannon with his free hand, ignoring the agonizing burn.

He hoisted himself up, pulled his arm back, and drove the purple-glowing crystalline sword straight down the barrel of the cannon, plunging it directly into the hybrid’s tech-Void core.

"Swallow this," Zen growled.

He poured every last drop of his ’Shadow’ mana into the blade. The conflicting S-Rank energies instantly triggered a catastrophic reaction deep inside the monster’s chest.

Zen kicked off the beast’s chest, backflipping away just as the Zone Boss’s core destabilized.

The monster let out a loud, distorted screech before it violently imploded. A shockwave of blue light and black ash tore through the room, shattering every glass panel and light fixture in the sector.

Zen landed on knee, his chest heaving as he lowered his sword.

[System: Zone Boss Executed. Threat neutralized.]

[Harvesting High D-Rank Hybrid Heart Stone.]

A massive, perfectly spherical crystal radiating immense power dropped from the falling ash. Zen caught it, slipping it into his pouch.

The chat box on his retinal display broke. It was a torrential downpour of notifications, numbers, and absolute hysteria.

ScrapRat99 donated 20,000 Mana-Credits: I WAS HERE! I SAW IT LIVE!

NeonJunkie donated 15,000 Mana-Credits: KING OF THE SCRAP! KING OF THE SCRAP!

EliteVanguard_7 donated 50,000 Mana-Credits: I... I have no words. Who the hell are you?!

Zen let out a long, exhausted exhale, slowly standing up to his full height. His entire body ached, but the thrill of the execution rang in his veins.

"Thanks for the support, chat," Zen said. "That’s enough hunting for tonight. I’ll see you all..."

A deafening BOOM shook the entire foundation of the zone.

The heavy steel ceiling thirty feet above Zen didn’t just crack; it was blown inward with an incredible force. Massive chunks of concrete and metal rained down; the three observer drones instantly angled upward, capturing the thick, choking cloud of dust filling the room.

The chat went dead silent.

From the center of the falling debris, a figure landed with an earth-shattering thud that cracked the very floorboards Zen was standing on.

Six automated, heavy-artillery drones immediately swarmed out of the dust, their red targeting lasers locking onto every shadow in the room.

Zen’s heart stopped.

He didn’t hesitate.

With a frantic mental command, Zen killed the broadcast.

[Stream Disconnected.]

The drones dropped out of the air, their lenses going dark.

The dust slowly began to clear as slow footsteps echoed against the metal grating.

Then Nyx stepped out of the shadows.

She wasn’t wearing her casual trench coat anymore; she was now fully clad in her S-Rank Spymaster battle armor.

The sleek, magi-tech plating hugged her form, pulsing with neon-purple circuitry that glowed with a terrifying beauty. A tactical visor covered the upper half of her face, but her intense, purple eyes cut through it, focusing solely on Zen.

The air around her was so dense with raw, suffocating mana that the ambient gravity in the room felt twice as heavy.

She stopped a few feet away from him, looking at the ash of the Zone Boss, and then back at Zen’s panting, exhausted form.

Then a slow, wicked, and completely unhinged smile spread across her lips.

"Watching you on a screen wasn’t enough," Nyx purred, her gauntlets humming with enough raw power to level a city block. She stepped closer, the obsession radiating off her like heat. "Let us clear the next zone together."
