Substitute Bride: Utterly Pampered by Her Billionaire Husband
Chapter 1417: Reunion
Ethan Barnes said, "Brother-in-law, long time no see."
Morgan Ashworth stood on the steps, looking indifferently at Ethan Barnes below. He curled his thin lips and said expressionlessly, "King Hayden, I don’t even have a sister, so I really don’t remember when I became your brother-in-law. You’d better take back this ’brother-in-law’ of yours."
Ethan Barnes wasn’t angry at all. He was chewing gum and walked up the steps in heavy black boots, standing in front of Morgan Ashworth. Both men, whether in appearance or aura, were exceptional, instantly becoming an eye-catching scene.
Ethan Barnes put both hands in his pockets, bent his waist, and leaned forward slightly, smiling, revealing a mouthful of white teeth, "Brother-in-law, have you been the Young Master of the Ashworth family for so long that you’ve forgotten your origins as Miles Linden?"
Morgan Ashworth replied, "King Hayden, my memory might not be good, but neither is yours. Have you forgotten, my sister disappeared to escape from you? In fact, you owe me a sister."
Willow Crawford listened nearby, her heart pounding. These two men were exposing each other’s scars, Ethan Barnes in mocking Miles Linden’s origins, and Morgan Ashworth in mocking Ethan Barnes’ disgraceful past.
Though these two men didn’t resort to physical altercations, they were even smiling as if catching up like old friends, yet Willow Crawford could already sense the tense atmosphere, sparks flying between them.
Ha.
At this moment, Ethan Barnes suddenly laughed, withdrew his hand from his pant’s pocket, "Brother-in-law, come on, let’s go inside and have a chat."
Talking was inevitable. Morgan Ashworth patted Willow Crawford’s little head, "We’ll talk for a while; you go upstairs to the room and don’t wander around."
Willow Crawford felt a bit uneasy and unwilling to leave.
Morgan Ashworth curled his lips, "Don’t worry, go on."
Willow Crawford had to enter the hotel lobby, and she could still hear Ethan Barnes and Morgan Ashworth’s conversation behind her, "Brother-in-law, you’re really something, did you really win over Willow Crawford, the little princess? Outside they all think the First Princess is dead; your skill in playing the golden cicada shell tactic is brilliant, really enjoying the good fortune."
Morgan Ashworth pursed his lips disgruntledly, "I don’t appreciate such jokes."
As Willow Crawford entered the elevator, the men’s voices disappeared along with her.
...
Willow Crawford arrived in the corridor, standing at the door of the presidential suite, wanting to swipe the card to open the door.
At this moment, a soft, gentle voice suddenly came from behind, "Willow."
Willow Crawford’s motion to open the door instantly froze, her pupils dilating. This voice... was so familiar, from a distant memory.
Willow Crawford slowly turned around, seeing a gentle and beautiful figure in front. It was... Celeste Linden.
Celeste Linden had come!
Five years had passed. The beautiful girl once ravaged by fate had completely transformed. Today she wore a beige long dress with a dark beige coat over it. Her long, beautiful hair was twisted up with a clip, leaving a few strands around her cheeks. She stood gracefully in front, the dim lighting in the corridor quietly casting on her, adding warmth and beauty.
Just with a glance, Willow Crawford knew, Celeste Linden had lived very well over these five years.
"Sister Celeste." Willow Crawford called out.
Celeste Linden came over; her right leg used to be disabled, now completely healed, a healthy normal person.
"Willow, long time no see." Celeste Linden reached her hand, gently giving Willow Crawford a hug.
Willow Crawford’s fair eye sockets turned red. Sometimes what they considered normal life was an unreachable dream for Celeste Linden. To reach this point, Celeste Linden had taken 99 steps.
"Sister Celeste, how have you been?"
Celeste Linden nodded, her black-and-white eyes seemed to be filled with a spring of water, clean and pure, "Yes, I’ve been doing well, Willow, you finally got together with Miles. I knew before that Miles liked you very much."
Willow Crawford held Celeste Linden’s little hand; she had many things to say and many questions to ask. But then she suddenly saw a diamond ring on Celeste Linden’s right-hand ring finger, "Sister Celeste, are you... married?"
"Yes, Willow, I am married. My husband treats me very well." A joyful smile radiated from Celeste Linden’s beautiful face.
Willow Crawford’s heart skipped a beat. If that demon Ethan Barnes found out Sister Celeste was married, who knows what madness he would unleash. After five years, Ethan Barnes’s rebellious vicious aura had only grown heavier.
"Sister Celeste, Miles and I are doing well too. You better leave here quickly." Willow Crawford urged.
Celeste Linden was somewhat reluctant, "I wanted to see Miles. Hearing you came here, I rushed over specially."
"Sister Celeste, you don’t know, Ethan Barnes is downstairs now!"
Ethan Barnes...
At the mention of this name, Willow Crawford felt Celeste Linden stiffen for a moment, a most instinctive reaction of the body, repulsive, resistant, even, disgusted.
Five years had passed, and Celeste Linden had found a new lease on life, yet upon hearing this name again, she still had the most instinctive reaction.
Celeste Linden quickly regained her composure, "Didn’t expect such a coincidence, I came, and he’s here..."
"So Sister Celeste, hurry up and leave, Ethan Barnes has been looking for you. If he finds you, it will spell trouble."
"Okay Willow, I’ll leave now." Celeste Linden turned around and left.
...
Celeste Linden descended the stairs and suddenly paused because, on the hotel lobby steps, she saw Morgan Ashworth and Ethan Barnes: the two men of her life.
Celeste Linden’s gaze first fell on Morgan Ashworth, and she instantly felt a sense of pride; her brother had grown up.
Celeste Linden then slowly shifted her gaze to Ethan Barnes. At this moment, her phone rang inside her bag.
The call was from her husband Dominic Reynolds.
Celeste Linden answered the phone, and Dominic Reynolds’s gentle voice reached her ear, "My dear wife, have you met your brother and sister-in-law? Shall I come to pick you up now?"
"There was a little situation today; we’ll meet next time. You can come now."
"Alright."
After hanging up the phone, Celeste Linden looked at Ethan Barnes one more time before turning around and disappearing from sight.
In front, Morgan Ashworth and Ethan Barnes finished their conversation too. Morgan Ashworth said, "I haven’t been in touch with my sister these years, so King Hayden, if you want my sister, I’m really sorry I can’t help."
Ethan Barnes shrugged, "So you’re saying you don’t want to cooperate."
"Think whatever you like, King Hayden, I’m leaving now." Morgan Ashworth turned and left.
"Young Master Ashworth," Ethan Barnes said quietly, "Do you believe your sister can’t escape? I will catch her soon!"
Morgan Ashworth didn’t stop walking, leaving the scene.
Ethan Barnes turned, walking toward the Jeep, where his subordinate had respectfully opened the door for him. But at the last second, Ethan Barnes paused.
