Substitute Bride: Utterly Pampered by Her Billionaire Husband
Chapter 1421: Get Out
Are you married?
Ethan Barnes asked her in a low voice.
Celeste Linden nodded, with no intention of hiding it from him; she couldn’t hide it anyway, if he investigated, he would find out, "Yes, I’m married."
Ethan Barnes pressed his lips together, his thin lips forming a chilling arc. He stared at Celeste Linden intensely, his gaze filled with a vicious air, as if a beast was about to pounce on her and devour her.
Celeste Linden curled her fingers, "I’m already married, so don’t touch me, unless I’m dead."
Ethan Barnes, "So, are you fiercely resisting to keep yourself pure for your husband?"
"Yes, so what?"
Ethan Barnes sneered, coldly saying, "I really feel like awarding you a shrine for being a chaste, virtuous woman."
"Ethan Barnes, someone like you will never understand!"
With that, a stalemate ensued between the two. Tonight, Ethan Barnes had hit her, scolded her, and nearly took her life, yet now he was quiet, but a quietness that made one uneasy.
At this moment, the melodious ringtone of a cell phone rang again, and Dominic Reynolds’ call came through once more.
Celeste Linden wanted to turn off her phone, but Ethan Barnes spoke slowly, "Don’t hang up, answer it."
Celeste Linden looked at him.
"Answer it right in front of me, let me see how loving you and your husband are." Ethan Barnes mocked.
Celeste Linden had no power to refuse. She was in this man’s hands now, and who knows what he might do if he went crazy.
Celeste Linden pressed the button to answer the call, and Dominic Reynolds’ anxious and tense voice quickly came through, "Honey, why did you take so long to answer? I thought something bad happened to you."
"I’m fine, there was a little issue at the art exhibition, I’m handling it, don’t wait up for me, go to sleep."
"No way, how can I sleep in an empty house with you not here?" Dominic Reynolds said sweetly.
Celeste Linden hadn’t reacted yet when Ethan Barnes curled his thin lips and sneered.
He was mocking, also showing disdain.
This sneer immediately reached Dominic Reynolds, "Honey, is someone there with you? I think I heard a man’s voice?"
Celeste Linden’s heart tightened, "Yes, I’m dealing with things here, there are male staff around."
"Honey, I’m already at the exhibition entrance, should I come in, or wait for you in the car?" Dominic Reynolds suddenly said.
What?
Dominic Reynolds drove over and is already outside?
This sudden situation caught Celeste Linden off guard. She could only try to calm Dominic Reynolds, "Don’t come in, wait for me in the car, I’m almost done here, I’ll come out to find you in a bit."
"Okay, honey." Dominic Reynolds obediently hung up the phone.
Celeste Linden put away her phone, at this moment, her delicate chin was pinched by Ethan Barnes once more. Ethan Barnes squinted at her, "Celeste Linden, I didn’t expect your lying skills to have improved, you can lie without blushing or being short of breath now."
Celeste Linden slapped his hand away, "I want to go home now, will you let me?"
"Celeste Linden, I’m curious if your husband knows about your past. I also thought of something amusing—what if your husband comes in and sees his beloved wife under me, what do you think he’ll do?"
Celeste Linden looked at him coldly, "Don’t dream. It’s hard to survive under you, but I have a way to die. I will only leave you with a corpse!"
Ethan Barnes looked at her for a few seconds, his face dark and unreadable, then he said one word, "Get out."
Get out.
He told her to get out.
Celeste Linden was very surprised, not believing he would let her go so easily, but without any hesitation, she got up frantically and disappeared as quickly as possible without looking back.
...
Ethan Barnes returned to his residence, and his trusted subordinate quickly handed over a file, "Boss, this is all the information about angel and her husband, Dominic Reynolds."
Ethan Barnes opened Dominic Reynolds’ file. Dominic Reynolds was born into a scholarly family, and he himself was outstanding, incredibly selective.
Dominic Reynolds and angel married two years ago, and Ethan Barnes picked up a photo, which was of Dominic Reynolds’ proposal.
In a romantic flower field, the sky was filled with colorful balloons and bubbles. Dominic Reynolds and Celeste Linden embraced in the sunshine, her beautiful face adorned with a smile that was pure and bright.
Ethan Barnes found her smile dazzling because she had never smiled at him like that.
Five years ago, she always cried.
Now, her face was cold.
So she could smile, but her smiles were all for another man.
Tsk.
Ethan Barnes reached out and tore the photo into pieces with a couple of rips.
He felt like a heavy stone was pressing on his chest. The anger he’d been holding back at the art exhibition tore a hole, and he cleared everything off his desk, kicking a chair out of the way.
Crack.
The chair immediately split in his powerful kick.
Ethan Barnes stood with his hands on his hips in front of the floor-to-ceiling window, struggling to breathe, so he reached up to loosen the button on his collar.
"Boss, are you getting angry because of this angel? If you want this angel, I can send people to abduct her now for you to enjoy." the subordinate said.
Ethan Barnes reached out and licked his dry lips. She was right; a forced melon is not sweet. This time, he wanted her to come to him willingly.
Did she think he would let her go?
Don’t dream, unless he’s dead.
"No need, in a few days, she’ll come to me on her own."
...
Celeste Linden went home with Dominic Reynolds, who was shocked by the injuries on her face and neck. Celeste lied, saying she got hurt resolving an art exhibition dispute. Dominic wanted to call the police in anger, but Celeste stopped him, saying it had been privately settled.
Unable to argue with Celeste’s insistence, Dominic gave in. They had agreed when they married that he wouldn’t interfere in her work.
The next morning, Celeste woke up later than usual. Dominic had to head to the company, and he stood by the bed, gently kissing Celeste’s forehead, saying tenderly, "Honey, you promised me, take some time to rest, stay at home today, I’ll come home early and make you dinner."
"Okay."
Dominic left for the company, and Celeste really gave herself a day off. She needed to plan for the future, intending to leave here with Dominic.
In the evening, Celeste waited and waited but didn’t see Dominic come home.
After marriage, Dominic usually returned home around six, but tonight, he was nowhere to be seen.
Celeste felt a bit uneasy, having a bad premonition.
Ethan Barnes wouldn’t let her go easily.
These past two days, Ethan Barnes had been very quiet, not making any moves, which was the truly frightening part.
