Summoners War: Only I Summoned Divine Beasts
Chapter 1668: Final Battle
"Switch. All summoners, unleash all your strength and provide cover for the soldiers to retreat!" Ternius and Regina ordered. They stopped conserving their energy and started pushing back the aliens with everything they had.
For a while, they pushed back the aliens as intended, but the numbers started to get overwhelming without the support of the soldiers.
Even before having the magic guns, the soldiers provided ample support to the summoners during a defensive battle like this. So, it was normal for them to start getting overwhelmed, especially with this number.
Still, they managed to persist. If in the past one or two hours they had used 10% to 20% of their power, they used the same amount of power in the last couple of minutes just to get the advantage.
However, it was worth it. The soldiers managed to enter the portal. They had been waiting on the second defense line, so it was time for them to retreat.
"Summoners!"
It was a signal for the summoners to start retreating.
From the furthest to the closest, the summoners began to retreat to the portal.
The aliens started destroying the fortress, but it was futile as no one was there.
Evelyn had regrouped with Nathan and the team, asking them to retreat.
Since there was only Nathan’s group left on the battlefield, they were trying to encircle them.
However, Nathan led his group to break through the enemy’s line and started retreating to the second defense line. He ensured that the pace remained the same so that the aliens would continue to follow them.
While retreating, Nathan asked for the report.
"We’re doing extremely well right now." Regina paused. "From the looks of it, we’ve only lost about 5%. There are a lot of injuries, but I don’t think it’s a very big deal right now. As for the enemies, I’m not so sure, but the people on the wall should have killed at least 15 elite class aliens. It’s not a big number compared to you guys, but it’s quite a lot."
"I see." Nathan frowned. His team had killed about 100 elite class aliens, including the ones they took down during the initial sneak attack.
This meant there were about 385 elite class aliens left for them to kill. It was quite hard, but they might be able to do it.
The second defense line should give them a better result, simply because the enemy didn’t have enough numbers to stop them anymore.
If they could lower it to 250, the third defense line might be the end for these aliens.
Nathan could ask them to defend the third defense line with all their might as he took down another 100 elite class aliens.
With only 150 elite class aliens, Nathan’s team could fully capture their attention while the others started encircling the enemy.
After they progressed a bit more, Nathan’s team would eventually overpower the enemies.
Still, the worst was yet to come. Nathan used his jinx to split the army, so he didn’t know when the jinx started biting back on him.
So, Nathan didn’t tell her that the third defense line would be the end yet.
Instead, Nathan asked, "Get ready for the second defense line. Inform the soldiers regarding our progress. This should raise their morale. We’ll need it to gain the initial momentum. Try to last longer in the fight this time."
"All right. Anything else? What’s our goal this time?"
"No goal. Just keep doing our best."
"Understood." Regina was a bit disappointed since they couldn’t end this battle soon or Nathan had yet to gain the confidence to eliminate the entire army.
However, Regina couldn’t do anything yet. Nathan was in charge this time.
She knew that Nathan had a plan in mind, and his strategy usually worked. He had witnessed it when they fought against the Godfather.
There was no other choice but to trust him again.
So, she turned around and revealed their current progress to the soldiers, raising their morale.
Now that the soldiers of the empire and the dynasty had gotten used to fighting together, some of them started talking and laughing with each other. Some were still comparing, but as long as there was no big fight, the leadership didn’t bother to stop them.
Eventually, Nathan reached the second defense line. The soldiers were already waiting for them. Thanks to the workers of the dynasty, they had more ditches this time since they had one or two hours more to work compared to the first defense line.
With fewer enemies, they believed they could hold them much longer this time around. The soldiers prepared themselves.
Once the aliens entered their range, they began raining bullets down on them. The battle proceeded like the one on the first defense line.
As everyone initially expected, they last longer. Instead of one to two hours, they held on for almost three hours. This was a massive achievement because it gave Nathan and his team more time to take down the elite class aliens. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
They still had a lot of supplies left, considering the dynasty and the empire poured everything they had into this joint defense. However, the summoners started to exhaust most of their energy. If this continued, they wouldn’t last much longer.
Nathan received this report directly from Regina. It was bad for Nathan and his team, but he had expected it to reach this point.
That was why, after going back to the third defense line, Nathan’s order changed.
"I want the summoners to slightly shift to the left. Depending on the situation, be ready to pour all reserve soldiers to the left."
"!!!" Regina widened her eyes. This order meant something. They had a chance to take down the enemy at the third defense line.
However, Nathan asked her not to tell everyone yet. He didn’t want to give them hope because there was a chance that the jinx started to make everything worse and they ended up losing their only chance.
Although Regina wasn’t quite convinced, as she couldn’t raise the morale to the limit, she didn’t argue with Nathan, who was definitely under a lot of pressure.
This was the last battle. 262 elite class aliens with their 2,500,000-strong army versus Nathan and the two nations.
