Chapter 942 - 941: The Scene
There's no denying it, the Little Flaming Crow is a real attention seeker. Seeing so many people pointing at her, some even feeding her aromatic food.
The Little Flaming Crow must be extremely happy.
She kept squawking, although her voice wasn't particularly pleasant, her dazzling fiery red feathers attracted the attention of those children even more.
They scrambled to touch the feathers of the Little Flaming Firebird. Jiang Cheng and Yanran were surprised; originally, they intended to stop these children, because essentially, the Little Flaming Firebird was still a ferocious bird.
They feared the Little Flaming Firebird's wild nature might harm these children, which would be embarrassing.
However, their worries were evidently unfounded.
The Little Flaming Firebird gently allowed the children to pet her, occasionally pecking their fingers with her sharp beak, causing a slight sting but mostly a tickling sensation that made the children squeal and then laugh joyfully.
More children gathered around, their parents standing at the edge of the crowd, smiling at the bird bringing so much joy to their kids.
However, they did not expect these two aliens to be here to perform their talents.
Jiang Cheng asked the children to step back a bit and explained the reason they came to the town square, promising that after they finished, the children could continue playing with the bird.
Then, they started the performance.
Jiang Cheng hesitated, recalling that the most famous place in Hua Family's history was a spot for traveling performers. Books or movies depicted performers giving speeches like 'Brothers first visit your honorable place,' or 'If you have money, support with money, if not support with your presence.'
He wondered if he should say something similar.
In the end, he decided against it.
Not because he was concerned about saving face, but because he thought the people of Delmar Planet wouldn't understand what he meant.
Jiang Cheng wouldn't waste his breath.
Yanran looked at him. She could surely perform archery, but how to perform was beyond her, so she looked at her teacher for advice.
Jiang Cheng contemplated for a moment, then walked over to a nearby child and asked if he could borrow a few grapes from him.
The child happily agreed, curious to see what tricks this alien with peculiar appearance could do with the grapes.
They had chosen a venue, a wall opposite Yanran to ensure her arrows wouldn't accidentally harm anyone.
Jiang Cheng stood far away from Yanran, his palm stretched flat, holding three grapes lined up.
The people standing near Yanran couldn't see what Jiang Cheng was holding, and they couldn't believe this fragile-looking girl could hit such a small target.
Yanran held the bow, with arrows backed in a quiver behind her, standing still for a few seconds.
Her composure starkly contrasted the warm atmosphere in Zhou District, and the people held their breath watching her.
Suddenly, Yanran started moving; although she intentionally slowed her actions of grabbing an arrow, nocking it, drawing the bow, and releasing it, it still seemed too fast for the spectators, astonishing them.
Three sounds rang out almost simultaneously, and when the audience turned their gaze to Jiang Cheng, he was holding nothing.
No applause, no cheers, because the audience didn't understand what had happened.
Yanran stood awkwardly.
Jiang Cheng approached her and whispered a few words, she nodded and then started performing.
This time, the distance between her and Jiang Cheng was closer, Jiang Cheng pinched a grape between two fingers, while Yanran first nocked a simple arrow and then shot a tendon arrow, her actions visible to everyone.
The arrow accurately hit the grape in the man's hand.
The spectators began clapping.
They applauded the skillful archery performance of this alien girl.
Scattered coins were thrown into the arena.
Jiang Cheng and Yanran seized the opportunity to continue their performance.
Jiang Cheng stood to Yanran's side, tossing coins one by one slowly into the air.
Thus, the audience could clearly see each coin tossed into the air consistently hit by the alien girl.
If the man's coin was fast, the girl's shot was fast, if slow, her shot was slow.
But each coin was hit by her.
The spectators clapped again, and a helpful spectator stepped out, took his hat, preparing to let the enthusiastic spectators place their tips into his hat.
Finally, they began another round of performance.
Jiang Cheng held up a piece of paper, his face hidden behind it, and Xuran had to aim at a small mark on the paper.
This performance seemed simple, but since the man stood behind the paper, it was clear that a thin sheet couldn't block an arrow; wouldn't the arrow hit the man's face after passing through the paper?
They held their breath again, some women stealthily covering their eyes as if they were going to witness a bloody scene.
Yanran faced away from Jiang Cheng, maintaining her posture.
Two or three seconds later, the alien girl in front of the audience suddenly turned and shot an arrow.
Amidst the crowd's gasps, the arrow pierced through the mark on the paper and stopped quietly after.
The women held their hands to their mouths, afraid they'd scream.
Yanran walked over and removed the paper that covered Jiang Cheng's face.
The arrow was clenched between Jiang Cheng's teeth.
Passionate applause erupted again, this time lasting notably longer than before, Jiang Cheng and Yanran surprisingly troubled by money issues; fortunately, both possessed remarkable skills; they earned enough money performing at the town square to afford meals and lodging.
The audience dispersed, and after Jiang Cheng and Yanran counted their earnings, they breathed a sigh of relief; the sum was decent, enough for not only lodging but also a hearty meal of local delicacies as the innkeeper said.
The sky darkened as they returned to their lodging.
While passing by a shop, Yanran was taken in by the bright clothes displayed in the window, involuntarily looking for a moment.
Jiang Cheng noticed and said to her, "Now that we finally have money, you can buy an outfit."
Yanran shook her head and replied, "Our money is only enough for food and lodging; if we buy clothes, Little Flaming Firebird won't have food."
After saying this, she lovingly petted the Little Flaming Firebird.
