Chapter 974 - 973: Hidden
But as for the benevolent side of humanity, they knew nothing about it, and they always avoided the matter of 507 and Hu Lu, whether intentionally or not.
Ba Lv deeply regretted her decision. If she had known the situation would develop like this, why would she have returned to the Black Exhaust Headquarters?
Jiang Cheng and Yanran had arrived in the mountains where the Black Exhaust Headquarters was located, facing a formidable enemy, their actions were exceedingly cautious.
They understood that since this was the headquarters of Black Exhaust, their defenses must be extremely tight. Based on this, they believed that being cautious and careful was the right approach.
Jiang Cheng's powerful spiritual power spread out, and as expected, on their path forward, he discovered about four surveillance devices of various types.
Thermographic cameras, infrared cameras, and ordinary video surveillance cameras.
The placement of these surveillance devices was very reasonable, essentially leaving no blind spots, and if they were destroyed for no reason, it would undoubtedly indicate an enemy invasion.
So Jiang Cheng and Yanran left the main road and trekked through the pathless mountains.
Even so, Jiang Cheng remained vigilant. His spiritual power was constantly sensing whether there was anything unusual or any special items ahead.
As they ventured deeper into the mountains, the mental markers left on Ba Lv became clearer. They knew they were getting closer to their target.
The closer they approached the target, the more cautious Jiang Cheng and Yanran became. They had waited for so many days, all for this moment.
Enter the Black Exhaust Headquarters, eliminate the enemy, and rescue the Little Flaming Firebird.
The dense trees of the deep mountains made it hard for the enemies to discover their location, but similarly, if the enemies entered the mountains, it would be hard for them to find them too.
Jiang Cheng was deeply thankful for these trees. If it weren't for their cover, even if they bypassed all the surveillance devices, he didn't think the Black Exhaust Group would lack the capability to equip satellite monitoring overhead.
He believed that above them, there must be at least one satellite constantly monitoring this area.
In fact, from the moment they stepped onto Harry Planet, they were already marked.
This was the headquarters of the Black Exhaust Group, their base camp, and they certainly extended their defensive perimeter far enough.
However, that Pan who colluded with the police chief definitely wasn't one of the Black Exhaust Group. For some reason, they tolerated Pan's existence.
After walking through the mountains for over two hours, Shi Su and Yanran encountered their first batch of enemies.
Two sentries, with guns on their backs, stood not far from them.
Shi Su used sensory power to search, finding only these two, with no hidden threats. Jiang Cheng whispered a few words to Yanran.
At the moment when the two soldiers walked into a line, Yanran suddenly stood up.
"Whoosh," an arrow was shot out, accurately hitting the two men's necks and pinning them together.
With a thud, the two sentries fell.
Jiang Cheng nodded slightly. Indeed, that shot had the air of a champion archer.
The timing, accuracy, and angle of her shot were masterfully executed.
Even Jiang Cheng, as a teacher, thought there was nothing to criticize about that arrow.
Jiang Cheng gave Yanran a thumbs up, and the two continued cautiously forward.
After about ten minutes of walking, they reached a dark cave entrance.
The two lay on high ground, observing the entrance. Within a short period, they saw people coming and going from the cave continuously.
Though the cave entrance wasn't large, Jiang Cheng and Yanran witnessed a transport spaceship flying out, suggesting that the interior must be very spacious to accommodate such a vessel.
Perhaps it had been peaceful here for too long; though two soldiers were posted at the cave entrance, they stood at ease, clearly quite relaxed.
To those going in and out, while they did check the documents, it was a cursory glance before waving them through.
After understanding the situation, the two retreated to where the two soldiers killed by Yanran lay, stripped them of their clothes and wore them.
"ID," the sentries at the entrance casually stretched out their hands to Jiang Cheng and Yanran, "Did you catch any game this time when you were out there?"
"Bad luck today, didn't find anything," Jiang Cheng complained, "Maybe all the little animals were scared away."
The sentry glanced at their documents, waving them in and added, "Next time if you catch any good game, be sure to save us a portion."
Jiang Cheng nodded, also waving back to assure them it would be no problem.
Once inside the cave, the two discovered it was not only particularly large but also very deep, with several branching paths twisting and turning who knew where.
Fortunately, the lighting wasn't very bright. After passing the first outpost, they had a better grasp of the defenses here.
Evidently, this place was very secluded, likely never having been breached by enemies, so though the sentries stood there, it was mostly for show; they hadn't developed a strong sense of vigilance.
Jiang Cheng silently sensed the mental marker left on Shang Lv, finding it peculiar that it hadn't moved in many days, remaining in the same spot, leaving Jiang Cheng puzzled.
Of course, he hadn't considered that Ba Lv had been imprisoned by the higher-ups of the Black Group as a traitor. How could someone locked in a cell roam around?
Thus, his spiritual marker remained in one spot.
After passing the second outpost, Jiang Cheng and Yanran quickly ducked into a secluded spot when no one was around.
Jiang Cheng said to Yanran, "It's strange why the mental marker I left on Ba Lv hasn't moved at all."
Yanran asked curiously, "When did you leave a marker on her? I never saw it."
Jiang Cheng replied, "Of course you wouldn't see it. I planted the Divine marker inside her during a slap I gave her."
He added, "Considering she's an important figure in Black Exhaust Group, I feared she might notice the mental marker, or that some expert in their group would. So I made sure that slap was hard, to hide the Divine marker deep."
Yanran stuck out her tongue, feeling it was a pity for the slap Ba Lv received.
That day, her teacher's slap on Ba Lv was indeed heavy. Having followed Jiang Cheng for so long, she had rarely seen him that furious.
She knew Jiang Cheng's principle, he would never insult his opponent. He'd rather kill his enemies than humiliate them.
