Supreme Warrior in the City
Chapter 2455: Feiyu Guard
In fact, Bright City, among the main cities on the Human Clan side, ranks quite high in terms of strength. After all, nurturing a Saint Emperor is not an easy task. Just imagine how many Spiritual Sources are needed to sustain so many Saint Emperor soldiers in Bright City. How many of the other main cities can afford such extravagance?
According to Lin Ye's account, some of the weaker main cities don't even have three thousand troops, including the city guards. Those places hardly qualify as main cities. And the root of all this is the scarcity of Spiritual Sources; only with enough Spiritual Sources can a city maintain a larger army.
Spiritual Sources are the most crucial wealth here!
Su Yang memorized the details of all the guards, and after thorough comparison, he selected five individuals.
These five people are guards of the main city, who can freely enter and exit the city. Additionally, they are patrol personnel, which means they can patrol anywhere within the city.
Su Yang needed to explore the main city to find the group led by the Nine Palace Main God; it was crucial to patrol multiple places, not just guard a single spot.
Moreover, these five individuals have moderate strength, are not very powerful, and are somewhat antisocial, without many acquaintances inside.
Su Yang intended to impersonate these individuals to enter the main city, thus he had to choose people who wouldn't attract attention. If he chose someone with a lot of acquaintances, he might get exposed. By choosing these five patrol personnel with no social ties, no one would pay them much heed, making it much safer.
After some comparison, Su Yang settled on one individual.
This individual's name was Feiyu, a rather nondescript presence within the main city, fitting Su Yang's criteria perfectly. Moreover, the key point was that his residence, though in the small city, was quite secluded, with no many people nearby.
With the choice settled, Su Yang promptly stored Lin Ye away, and along with three Crystal Skulls, returned to the small city.
They lingered there for about half a month, familiarizing themselves with the surroundings. During this time, Su Yang and his companions feigned participation in the trading market, buying some items and selling processed Elixir Pills, not arousing much suspicion.
Even though Su Yang's group got tricked by Lin Ye and lured out, witnessed by many, no one cared about the final result. Further, Su Yang and his group returned without Lin Ye, signaling to everyone that Su Yang was not someone they could afford to provoke. Consequently, no one dared to target Su Yang's group anymore.
Half a month later, the guard Feiyu finally switched shifts and returned to the small city.
Su Yang met Feiyu for the first time—a middle-aged man with rather ordinary looks. His strength is notably superior, surpassing Lin Ye by a long margin.
In fact, among the guards, it's rare to find someone weak.
In the Land of Chaos, Spiritual Sources are the most wanting, while Saint Emperors are the least scarce!
As long as one possesses enough Spiritual Sources, strong individuals will readily pledge allegiance!
Su Yang did not rush to take action but instead spent another half a month observing Feiyu's every move, his habits, and work style. To imitate Feiyu, Su Yang must not only replicate his appearance and aura but also adopt his mannerisms and work style; otherwise, he might still be discovered.
After half a month, Su Yang was rather familiar with Feiyu.
One night, Su Yang quietly visited Feiyu's home.
Feiyu was practicing alone at home when Su Yang suddenly entered, causing some surprise.
Remember, this is a vendor city affiliated with Bright City; no one dares cause trouble here, much less provoke Bright City's guards. Trespassing into someone's home is inviting trouble.
"What's your intention?" Feiyu exclaimed coldly.
Su Yang smiled lightly and approached Feiyu. Just as Feiyu prepared to get angry, Su Yang said, "Greetings, Master Feiyu. Don't you recognize me?"
Feiyu paused, puzzled. So, this person might be an acquaintance? But he had no impression at all.
However, as a guard, he socialized quite a bit. Often, others recognized him, although he didn't remember them. Some people, he only met once, and he never bothered to remember them, but they remembered him vividly. After all, being a guard here renders one a significant figure, someone others eagerly want to associate with.
Thinking that, Feiyu felt a bit contemptuous. Presumably, this was yet another person seeking his help due to some past encounter, thinking they were very familiar. Feiyu met many such minor figures, often dismissing them.
"What do you want?" Feiyu responded icily but didn't immediately eject Su Yang. He wanted to see if gains were involved; if so, things would be much smoother. Without benefits, he would simply dismiss Su Yang.
"Master Feiyu, it's like this!" Su Yang smiled, "There's a deal where the profit in Spiritual Sources could match Master Feiyu's thousand-year salary."
"What!?" Feiyu's eyes widened. A guard's pay isn't low, so matching his thousand-year salary is a substantial amount, naturally leaving him shocked. If such a deal were conceivable, he'd certainly reap significant benefits.
"Master Feiyu, are you interested in such a deal?" Su Yang smiled.
Despite Feiyu's excitement, he maintained a cool demeanor: "What's the deal?"
Su Yang surveyed his surroundings, hesitated momentarily, and spoke softly, "Master Feiyu, may I borrow a moment for a private word?"
Feiyu furrowed his brow; Su Yang's secrecy was displeasing. Nonetheless, considering potential gains from the deal, he ultimately nodded.
Profiting greatly in Spiritual Sources signifies a significant affair. Discussing it openly could attract unnecessary troubles if overheard by others.
"Let's go chat outside!" Feiyu took the lead, flying out and guiding Su Yang away from the small city.
Feiyu exhibited great confidence, believing Su Yang wouldn't dare harm him. After all, they were near Bright City; who dares confront Bright City's guards? Even if another city's rival came, targeting a mere guard like him holds no merit.
Besides, Feiyu led the way, not allowing Su Yang in front. Thus, even if Su Yang had an ambush arranged, it'd be useless. Not knowing which direction Feiyu intended to proceed, how could Su Yang ensure a proper ambush?
