Surviving the Apocalypse While Being Tempted by an Elf and a Dark Elf
Chapter 389: Goal (4)
"He didn’t use mana... but his mana is reacting, how?" Aivern wondered.
Aivern could attack while Luke was returning, but he wouldn’t understand how that was possible... he didn’t even see that happening with his Clairvoyance, so it didn’t make any sense. If Aivern didn’t see, then it was because it was something that Luke prepared beforehand, in his dimension where no one could see him... it was also something that could only be triggered upon his death. He sure was prepared... even for his death to obtain victory.
"It’s almost like the Reset... but he didn’t bombard anything with mana to make everything go back in time," Aivern thought.
While Aivern was thinking about that, Luke eventually returned to his original position, and then the light returned to his eyes. He immediately clicked his tongue when he realized what had happened... he died. He had created a countermeasure in case that were to happen using time magic and a mana crystal, but he didn’t think that he would actually die against Aivern. All that training... decades of training, and yet...
While biting his lips in anger to the point that they started to bleed, Luke suddenly had a flash of inspiration. It was almost the worst time to have that, but at least it helped him calm down.
"That was an interesting technique... Another one that you came up with that the system can’t quantify," Aivern said. "I wonder how many times you can do that."
"It is simple, the fastest way is gray coins in Vanilla Secret 2. Get the gray P button near the Spinys, hit the button at the beginning of the level, collect the gray coins, and gain a lot of lives. This isn’t too far into the game. I would argue that if you take the lake path instead of the cave path in Donut Plains, you could finish it in well under 15 minutes, possibly even under 10," Luke replied while he recalled how he used to get ninety-nine lives in super Mario world. "I can do that ninety-eight more times."
Aivern frowned when he heard that. He didn’t understand half of it. It was only natural since Luke was spewing nonsense. He couldn’t even do that one more time without preparing since he could only absorb a single crystal that could do that per time. The crystal was absorbed to be used when Luke suffered mortal damage. It was the only moment that it could be activated since it would make his body entirely go back in time to the moment it began to be attacked...
While Aivern was confused, Luke tried to analyze the idea that he had. He used space magic to create some distortions in front of him, and then he used Clairvoyance in those distortions. As one would expect, nothing happened. However, when he used time magic on those, the distortions began to show images like mirrors. The images were quite blurry, but they showed exactly what happened while Luke was unconscious.
"So, that is how it is..." Luke thought.
That was a rather crude way to see the past. Aivern could do it without giving the enemies the chance to see him do anything. He also could do it instantly and see many seconds ahead in a single moment. Still, he couldn’t help but open his eyes widely... Luke really managed to do the same thing that he could.
"You... How you can be sostupid and ingenuous at the same time?" Aivern asked.
"Go eat shit... I told you not to show me your skills too many times," Luke said. "This system isn’t that hard to master, as long as you have Mana Manipulation and the skills necessary anyone can learn pretty much anything. You are just a dumbass who lacks creativity. Or perhaps you are just a dumbass that got lazy after getting your main skill evolved. Instead of learning more by experimenting with what you had, you just copied what others did trying to use their powers like they were your own. As it turns out, they weren’t and that is why you never accomplished anything and failed time and time again. You hit your head against the same obstacle many times and hoped that others would do the hard work for you... You are a failure."
Aivern expression distorted to one of Absolute rage... He was so pissed "that his aura even began to change. Weirdly enough, he even just learned Rage and Berserker... He sure was composed for someone who saw the universe end so many times. It has been a while since Luke felt that refreshed... Or maybe not. He couldn’t tell since his notion of time got messed up in his dimension.
Unlike the usual, Aivern charged after Luke, and even before he could actually approach Luke, he got punched in the face... Six times. When he got close enough, his attacks got even faster, and even though Luke could see his arms, it felt like he had dozens of invisible other arms.
Luke was resisting with his enhanced endurance, but there was only so much he could do when he was being punched hundreds of times per second, and each punch could easily destroy a mountain. Luke had to make good use of his new technique. So, he hurried to distort the space in front of his left eye and then create a mirror of the future... That was what he called his pseudo Foresight. However, he suddenly had a better idea.
Luke used Meteor Sword, and while Aivern was busy blocking them, he moved away and then created a magic contact lens while using Projection, and he imbued it with Space Manipulation, Time Manipulation, and Clairvoyance. That was another trick he learned while he was training.
Foresight Lens
It grants you the power to see possible event futures based on their likelihood. The possible futures will appear at the same time, creating shadows of what might happen.
Cost: 5.000 mana per second.
