Surviving the Apocalypse While Being Tempted by an Elf and a Dark Elf
Chapter 400: Darkness within (6)
As if he had forgotten the importance of a good stance when fighting, Luke bent his body and then punched the monster. However, the creature blocked the attack with a cross guard. The monster was still pushed backward, but it just waited for the next attack while watching Luke.
"He isn’t falling apart, even though he was supposed to," the monster thought as he watched Luke’s wounds being healed at the same time they opened.
The monster had realized that, but it never thought too much about it. But even though mana wasn’t supposed to exist in that dimension, Luke was still using and getting more and more over time. That wasn’t supposed to be possible... Eventually, the monster noticed the book that Luke had. He had been carrying that on his chest for a while, and despite the severity of the battle, it didn’t suffer any damage...
When Luke got close enough, the monster prepared his attack and fired a massive beam of energy at the book when he punched the monster. An explosion happened and pushed them to opposite sides. Soon after, Luke returned, and the monster realized that the book was intact. 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
"It seems that is returning his powers, even though he was supposed to have lost them..." The monster thought. "Even if that is indestructible, as long as I explode his head."
Luke charged even though he barely could see the enemy. At that point in time, the dark thoughts were clouding most of his vision, and he was guiding himself while feeling the presence of the monster. When he got close, he felt a sudden increase in energy in front of the monster, but he couldn’t retreat, so he moved his arms to protect his head. Just as he had expected, the monster had aimed there, and he felt like his arms were melting.
Before Luke could attack again, the monster began to drain even more dark energy from the surroundings, and at the same time, the creature also summoned several small purple spheres and made them move around. They were like small copies of themselves, but their firepower probably couldn’t be laughed at. While Luke could use them to obtain more energy, the attacks would give an opening to the enemy sooner or later.
The spheres began to spread across the area in order to become harder to get rid of them all at once. Even in his enraged situation, Luke still stopped to consider how he could deal with them. After all, leaving them alone would only make things more annoying. Before he couldn’t come up with an answer, Luke suddenly was kicked in the stomach, and his body bent forward. Instead of using that chance to punch his face, the monster pointed both arms toward it and fired a powerful beam of energy. Luke barely had the time to cover his head with one of his arms, but he still suffered great damage and was sent flying in the opposite direction. As if things weren’t troublesome enough, the sphere approached and then began to bombard Luke.
In the end, Luke used space magic and connected the spot behind him to the back of two of those. Once he appeared there, he touched them and covered them with a layer of mana crystal. It was pretty thin, but it completely stopped them. Once that was done, Luke smashed them against each other. He had planned to do that with the others, but then he got kicked on the back by the monster... "
That son of a bitch sure is liking to use its body," Luke thought.
The reason behind that was simple. It was more effective. While beings of energy had more Explosive damage, they could be absorbed by Luke, and it would make him stronger. Each of those strikes made Luke’s bones crack all over while he flew for dozens of kilometers as well...
Before Luke could even stop, the monster had the nerve to start a combo using only dropkicks. Its speed was enough to do even that... However, the monster decided to stop when it realized that Luke wasn’t planning to counterattack. He was enduring the pain while absorbing some of the energy of the attacks and of the surroundings. His body was about to collapse, and he still wanted more...
While the monster found that dropkicks were quite fun, he decided to help Luke with his death wish. The monster suddenly stopped after kicking Luke with all its might and making him fly for even longer than before. After that, the creature raised its arms, and then a massive dark and purple sphere appeared and began to grow. Before long, the sphere reached the size of the moon, and then the enemy fired just like that.
When Luke sensed the danger, he just enveloped his arms with mana and dark energy; he also summoned his shadow clones to offer some protection there, and in the end, he had the crazy idea of stopping the attack with his hands. The plan didn’t work very well as he was pushed down even further without much Resistance. His whole body began to feel like it was melting in front of that massive mass of energy. Little by little, Luke’s arms began to disintegrate down to an atomic level... and yet, in that situation, who looked most troubled was the monster who attacked. Once again, he felt Luke’s dark energy spiking. It was getting harder to imagine him being killed before the became as good as the monster at amassing dark energy. He surpassed his limits a long time ago... And that means that he won’t reach them.
Even before the attack could actually end, the monster realized that it had to take down Luke right now with all its might. That opponent was too dangerous to be left alone... The monster wasn’t holding back, and yet... As if he was showing that he was used to getting beaten up so badly, that puny human being kept moving forward.
When the monster decided to amass all the energy of that dimension, Luke got strong enough to heal his arms instantly, even if they were completely destroyed. Despite that, his arms were getting destroyed and healed several times per second, and Luke didn’t show any sign that he was about to give up. If anything, his aura only grew stronger.
The monster had planned to wait for a little while in order to amass enough energy to destroy the other side, but even though that would delay its plans a bit, the creature decided to amass all the energy as fast as possible to kill Luke. Acting like that, will definitely put the will of the world on guard and will give them time to prepare for another Reset... still, the monster was willing to endure another to get rid of the greatest enemy.
In the end, the monster’s predictions were accurate, and Luke survived the attack and even absorbed most of the energy. He was biting his lips while showing a vicious expression... he barely could feel any pain since he almost had been taken by the anger and the voices in his head. Still, he calmed down a bit when he felt that dimension changing... as if a black hole had appeared there. All the miasma and shadows were moving upward toward the spot the last time Luke saw the enemy.
"I have... to... kill... that..." Luke muttered while trying to keep his sanity.
The enemy was getting even more powerful than before, and this time, the difference in strength would be absolute, so Luke had to hurry. Luke flew faster than a meteor toward the enemy. Surprisingly enough, he even managed to use the shadows to propel his speed while firing the energy from his feet. Thanks to that, he managed to clear his mind a bit. Still, in the end, he began to think that it wasn’t a good idea... The dimension was losing its purple color and slowly getting clear. The enemy was gathering stupid amounts of energy, the entire miasma, and dark thoughts of that dimension. Luke knew that he wouldn’t survive a single high if the enemy reached such a high level.
"I was pushed too far away... damn it," Luke said while he was flying, but he didn’t feel like he was getting closer.
In the end, Luke also tried to absorb some of the dark energy to weaken the enemy and make himself a bit stronger. Unfortunately, the monster was serious this time, and things returned just right as they were when the fight started. He couldn’t keep up with that, not even when he summoned the shadows to help. At that point in time, he was stronger than when he fought Aivern, thanks to both energies, but he couldn’t see himself winning anymore...
"Whatever, it isn’t like I need confidence to begin with," Luke said and gathered all his mana and dark energy in a single place in his hands.
Luke was unable to use Projection on the dark energy before, but perhaps things would be different now that he could combine that with mana. That would be his last bet against that enemy. Luke’s hands suddenly began to feel like they were burning and being healed at the same time, but there was no sense of pain. He almost thought that he was about to self-destruct by trying to do something crazy. Still, this time the projection and transmutation worked well. He figured out at the last moment that he would need transmutation as well... the result? It was a long broadsword that was as tall as luke. Still, it was quite the weird weapon... it had two edges, one white and the other black, but the middle was gray like it was a combination of both. It was like the sword was telling him that despite the differences, mana, the energy that is given birth when one mind becomes strong, and dark energy, the energy that is given birth when one is too mentally weak, are just two sides of the same coin. One can’t be strong all the time, and one can’t be weak all the time. They have to find a balance like the sword.
Last Harmony
A sword made using the light and darkness of the human’s mind as catalysts. The more mana and dark energy you feed this weapon with, the more powerful it will become.
Strength + 10, Speed + 10, Intelligence + 10, Endurance + 10, Resistance + 10, Focus + 10,
Durability: 10/10
Luke frowned when he saw those parameters, but then he recalled the vampire sword. It has been a while since he used that, and he stopped because he didn’t have the chance to make it absorb blood while he was training. In any case, Luke fed the weapon with his mana as he recovered, and he confirmed that the weapon got stronger every time he used ten thousand mana points. All of the parameters increased by ten points, so it wasn’t a small amount. In any case, Luke quickly went to his dimension to power up that weapon. Luke almost sighed in relief while he used both energies since that was perfect for controlling his rage. If he only had thought of that sooner...
"No... This weapon can only exist now because I have the book that let me use mana in this dimension, and because I can use dark energy as well," Luke thought. "This weapon can only exist now due to numerous circumstances that brought me here."
