Chapter 39: The Soul weapons and the beginning of the apocalypse!

Bai Li took the RV and rode it to the apartment complex and parked it in the underground parking lot.

She came back to her newly renovated duplex and walked around the entire place and got a feel of all the changes in the surroundings.

And most of all, they have installed a control panel in her work room as in the room where she keeps her desktop and could be said as the control room.

Bai Li then thought about turning one of the rooms into a weapons room where all her knives, kukris and other camping weapons like axes and such and most importantly, the crossbows and arrows should be placed.

And one of the rooms has already been turned into a storeroom with all the supplies, foods, water stored in there. With this three of her six rooms have been occupied leaving three more rooms which can be used for various purposes later on.

Bai Li then thought about moving the weapons and crossbows and arrows to the weapons room. Just then, the system that had stayed silent in her mind for several days suddenly appeared again without warning.

"Darling, System is at your service."

Bai Li, who had just sat down after checking the last few things inside the duplex, paused immediately. For a second, she even thought she had imagined it because there had been no response from it no matter how many times she had called earlier.

"You’re finally back?" she asked while lightly tapping her knee with her fingers. "I tried contacting you a few days ago. Why didn’t you answer?"

The sweet yet slightly annoying voice of the system started ringing in her head with visible enthusiasm,

"Of COURSE, It’s because the gods were putting an update in me! And good news, my dear host!! The soul weapons that the gods were preparing have arrived!! And I am sure that you would definitely love them, hehehe.."

Bai Li at this point had almost forgotten about the soul weapons written on the system panel. She didn’t know what these would be but she was sure that they would come to be very useful in the apocalypse.

Bai Li said," Ok, what are they then?"

"The system replied almost immediately. "There are three soul weapons provided by the gods which can bind with your soul and give you a cutting edge advantage in the apocalypse. These soul weapons would be directly linked to your soul, almost like a part of your body. These soul weapons are all mythical, godly items hand crafted specifically by the gods themselves, host! Just imagine how terrifying these would be!!

First, a basic storage space. Current size: 10 square meters, the standard size about any small to medium sized bedroom. Many items can be stored here, of course except for living things. The storage space can be upgraded through killing more zombies and monsters and obtaining their crystal cores. At some point, after upgrading, the storage space would also unlock its secondary ability which will allow you to keep living things in it as well, though that’s for later and you don’t need to worry about it now, host.

Second soul weapon: it’s a dual combo weapon consisting of a dagger and a revolver. These two weapon upgrades according to the number of zombies and monsters eliminated by darling.

The dagger is named Whisperfang. It has a self growing ability, which means the more zombies or monsters you kill and obtain crystal cores, you can use them to absorb the powers of the crystal cores and the dagger would continue to grow stronger and sturdier and more and more sharper. At its base, it can cut through metal easily and just imagine how terrifying it would be if it continues to grow strong.

And host, you must be thrilled to know that this dagger also possesses infinite abilities, the basic three abilities already provided are Silent Return, allowing the dagger to return to its owner’s hand by thought after being thrown. The second is Vein Split, where even a small cut became difficult to heal and continued damaging tissue internally. The third is Night Pulse, which awakened more strongly in darkness, making the blade harder to see and increasing its cutting power. But these abilities are locked currently.

You can continue to grow these abilities and also unlock new abilities, if you can provide rare crystal cores of rare monsters or zombies.

And the dual weapon combo with this is the revolver, Black halo. It is also self growing and the more you grow it, the more deadly the bullets it can fire and more precise the shots it will target. At higher levels, you don’t just shoot living targets but even souls and emotions and many more mysteries.

It also has three basic abilities, all of which are locked at the moment. The first ability is Echo Shot, allowing one fired bullet to create a delayed second impact on the same target point, as if a hidden second round struck half a second later. The second ability is Iron Lock, which makes the next bullet impossible to deflect once fired, locking its path directly toward the target within a limited range. The third ability is Grave Spark, where bullets fired in darkness carried stronger penetrating force and a faint destructive energy that spread slightly after impact.

The dual weapon combo will allow an increase of 100% in effectiveness and ability in the weapons. The three abilities of them both can only be unlocked after obtaining three thousand basic crystal cores.

"The third soul weapon is the Mythical RV Modification System," the system said, and this time even its voice carried obvious pride, as if it had been waiting especially for this part. "For activation, a completed RV is required as the base structure, which is fortunate because you have already prepared one in advance, host. Once the system binds to that vehicle, the RV will no longer remain an ordinary machine. It will evolve into a true mythical mobile fortress."

"At the most basic stage, the body will immediately gain extreme durability far beyond ordinary industrial standards. Bullet resistance, impact resistance, fire resistance, and shock resistance will all become part of its core structure. Even if heavily damaged, the vehicle will possess self healing properties and gradually restore its own body over time, provided the core remains intact."

Bai Li listened quietly while the system continued.

"But the true value of this soul weapon is not the outer shell. Its greatest function lies inside. Once activated, the internal structure of the RV will separate from normal physical limits through dimensional expansion. In simple words, the inside will become far larger than what the outside volume should logically allow. What appears to be an ordinary vehicle externally may contain an internal living space several times larger, with separate functional zones, independent rooms, bathrooms, storage areas, work spaces, defensive compartments, and future expansion slots."

"And this growth is not fixed. As the RV absorbs energy through crystal cores and future upgrades, the internal dimension will continue expanding. New rooms can appear. Specialized areas can unlock according to need. Medical space, cultivation space, weapon storage, biological planting areas, independent energy systems, even more advanced modules may become available later depending on how far host develops it."

"Important note: 1000 basic zombie crystal cores is required for the activation of the RV system."

After hearing about all three soul weapons, Bai Li’s eyes were already glowing. These all seemed too overpowered and for a second, she felt like life in the apocalypse would be easy then she also thought about if the gods gave her such abilities, that means that she would definitely need them and that also means that the apocalypse would be far beyond her imagination.

Anyway, there’s no need to think so much. She should just do one step at a time. Besides, having a storage space made her trouble of carrying supplies almost nonexistent whenever she went outside for exploration or for other reasons.

A ten square meter area did not sound large at first, but it would be able to contain a lot of things in them, as most of her basic things can be stored without much problem.

Then comes the weapons which would fulfill her most important aspect, attacking.

And the rv would be cover for defence and and a stay place and also as a mode of transportation.

"How do I use them?" she asked without wasting time.

"These abilities are already linked directly to darling’s consciousness. A thought is enough. Darling may try now."

Bai Li nodded slightly.

The moment she focused inward, she immediately felt something unusual inside her mind, like a small sealed space existing somewhere just beyond ordinary thought.

She lifted her hand and tried again.

The next second, something appeared in her palm.

A dagger.

It came so suddenly that even Bai Li, who had already accepted many strange things in the last few days, still stared at it for a moment.

The dagger looked like something that did not belong in an ordinary hand, as if it had been taken straight out of an old legend and forced quietly into the modern world. Its full length was a little over thirty centimeters, slender but not fragile, built with the kind of balance that made it feel unnaturally perfect the moment it rested in the palm. The blade itself was narrow near the hilt and widened slightly toward the middle before tapering again into a sharp, elegant point. At first glance the metal looked silver, but under light it shifted subtly, sometimes pale blue, sometimes like cold moonlight layered over polished steel. Fine lines ran through the blade like frozen veins, not engraved on the surface but seemingly inside the metal itself, faintly glowing whenever the weapon was drawn for more than a few seconds.

The edge had no visible roughness at all. It looked so clean that even staring at it too long gave the strange feeling that the blade might cut air itself. Along the center ran a thin dark line, almost black, as though another metal had been fused deep inside during forging. That dark core gave the dagger an unsettling depth, like something sleeping beneath the surface.

Its guard was minimal but beautiful, shaped like two curved wings folding slightly forward, made of dark metal with tiny silver markings that resembled ancient script. The handle was wrapped in deep black leather so fine it almost felt warm when touched, yet beneath that softness there was a firmness that locked naturally into the grip. At the pommel sat a small gemstone no bigger than a thumbnail, deep violet in color, but not fully transparent. Sometimes it looked dull. Sometimes a faint light moved inside it like mist trapped under glass.

Bai Li was completely captured by the beauty and sheer terrifyingness of the dagger. It felt so sharp just holding that she could not imagine what it would be like to use it. With another thought, the dagger disappeared and the revolver appeared in her hand.

This time, she was truly impressed by the weapon.

Black Halo had the kind of appearance that immediately drew attention even before anyone understood what made it special. Its body was built from matte black metal, but not the dull black of ordinary firearms. Under light, the surface carried a faint deep sheen, almost like black glass layered over steel. The revolver had a long barrel, elegant and slightly heavier toward the front, giving it a balanced but intimidating shape. The cylinder was thick and perfectly machined, with six chambers outlined by very fine silver engraved lines that circled it like delicate rings.

Near the barrel, subtle silver patterns ran along both sides, not flashy enough to look decorative from far away, but close up they looked like old engraved markings, sharp and clean, almost like something carved by hand rather than machine made. The hammer and trigger were darker still, nearly absorbing light, while the edges remained smooth enough to reflect a faint metallic glow.

The grip was dark walnut wood, polished to a rich deep brown that almost looked black unless light touched it directly. Fine natural wood grain could still be seen beneath the polish, and the shape fit naturally into the palm, giving the weapon a luxurious feel despite its weight. At the very bottom of the grip sat a tiny black metal emblem shaped like a ring, subtle enough that most people would miss it unless they looked closely.

What made Black Halo feel unusual was its overall finish. It looked old and expensive at the same time, like a weapon made for someone important in another era, yet perfectly maintained, with not a single flaw visible anywhere on its surface. Even resting still, it carried a strange heaviness, as if it belonged in silence rather than noise.

Bai Li was completely satisfied with the weapons.

Without delaying further, Bai Li went directly toward the study room.

Now that she had space, even limited space, she had to use every inch properly.

She first brought several large water bottles and began arranging them carefully at the bottom layer of the storage space. Since the space itself existed almost like an invisible vertical compartment in her mind, she had to mentally place things with care, making sure no volume was wasted.

Large bottles first.

Then smaller water bottles pushed into gaps between them.

Electrolyte drinks followed next because she knew plain water alone would not always solve dehydration under harsh conditions.

She kept filling until nearly half the space was occupied by liquid supplies.

Water always came first.

A person could survive days without food.

Without water, the body collapsed much faster.

Especially once the apocalypse began and nobody could guarantee clean water systems would remain functional.

After finishing with the water, she left the upper half for food and necessities.

She moved into the storage room where food supplies were already stacked high from previous deliveries.

This time she selected carefully rather than randomly.

Canned food with proper sealing.

High calorie chocolate bars.

Vacuum packed instant noodles.

Self heating meals.

Compressed biscuits.

A few sealed packets of dried meat.

Everything went in neatly, one after another.

She arranged heavier items first, lighter ones later, building upward without wasting corners.

Roughly one third of the remaining space disappeared quickly under food alone.

Then came daily necessities.

Toilet paper.

Sanitary pads.

Toothpaste.

Toothbrushes.

Soap.

Small shampoo bottles.

A compact bottle of disinfectant.

A basic towel.

Even tiny things mattered later because once ordinary supply chains collapsed, small comforts would suddenly become difficult luxuries.

She filled another section carefully.

Then came the final part.

Weapons and survival tools.

Two crossbows.

A hundred bolts.

Two kukri knives.

One axe.

One entrenching tool.

A high powered binocular.

One military water bottle already filled.

One mess kit.

An alcohol stove.

Solid alcohol blocks.

Flint.

A lighter.

Compact rope.

A small folding torch.

A medical pouch.

That final section disappeared much faster than she expected.

When she mentally checked again, the space was already full.

Every inch had been used.

The storage space was small enough that she immediately felt its limitation.

Still, the advantage remained enormous.

Anything stored there stayed hidden, instantly accessible, and according to the system, preserved in vacuum.

That meant no moisture.

No spoilage.

No accidental ignition.

Which also meant carrying certain dangerous things later would become much easier.

Bai Li exhaled slowly and sat down on the chair nearby.

"If only it were bigger," she muttered honestly.

But even while saying that, she knew very well that what she had already received was absurdly useful.

A hidden storage space alone could change survival completely once chaos began.

And compared to ordinary people who would struggle carrying one bag while running, she now had essential supplies literally hidden within thought itself.

..

..

By the time Bai Li finished doing all her work, it was already 8 pm. She didn’t feel tired after doing all this work but she definitely felt nasty and decided to have a good shower.

After showering and feeling fresh, she ordered food and ate with relish and decided to sleep for the night. Since today is the last day and the apocalypse would officially begin tomorrow.

At six o clock, She woke up feeling mentally refreshed and took a bath again, brushed her teeth and sat down on the sofa couch with a cup of black coffee in her hand.

By this time, it was almost 7 am in the morning. According to the book, the zombies were first sighted around 9 am. The outbreak truly happened a little after that.

She finished her coffee and opened her phone to order a large takeout. This might be her last time eating outdoor food so she might as well properly enjoy it.

After about 20 minutes, the delivery came and she received it.

After getting her takeout, Bai Li ate in the living room while watching some news channel and also scrolling douyin and weibo for some news about the apocalypse.

Time passed by and soon, it was 8:10 in the morning. She thought a little and went into her master bedroom on the second floor and moved a chair to the balcony. She had purchased a lot of camping items before and one of them was a high powered binocular for scouting areas. With this, she can even see kilometers in the distance.

There were quite a few cars and pedestrians on the street. Lin Ran looked around with binoculars when suddenly, a scene at a pedestrian crossing in the distance caught her eye. A man was heaving violently while vomiting in the middle of the street with a lot of people crowding around to check his condition.

Just then the system in her mind almost screamed in excitement announcing,

"Congratulations! Host! The apocalypse has begun as of now!"

Just then, Bai Li saw the man who was vomiting, suddenly lunging towards the people close to him and biting their necks off!
