Surviving the apocalypse with a wife and a system! [GL]
Chapter 78: Extra - . [Their daily life in an ABO world.]
The city woke under a pale gold sky, and the top floor of the Baihe Tower was already bright with work lights. Bai Li stood by the wide glass window in a dark suit, one hand holding a tablet, the other resting in her pocket, looking calm and sharp in the way people had come to expect from her. She was the owner and CEO of Baihe Group, one of the largest companies in the country, and in the ABO world, her name carried weight everywhere. She was an alpha with strong control, strong instincts, and a cold face that made board members sit straighter the moment she entered a room. Yet in the quiet before the day fully began, when the city was still soft with morning haze, Bai Li was not thinking about business. She was thinking about the woman sleeping in the private lounge behind her office, her wife, Yan Cijin. The thought alone changed her face. The line at the corner of her mouth softened, and the cold shine in her eyes warmed at once.
Yan Cijin was a famous writer, an omega with a gentle face and a mind full of sharp light. Her books were loved across the whole continent. People said her words were like rain on old stone, quiet but lasting. Some said she wrote romance so well because she understood the shape of love in a real way. Bai Li liked to think that too, though she had never said it out loud in front of anyone else. Yan Cijin had stayed in Bai Li’s office the night before because she had wanted to finish a Chapter while waiting for her wife to come back from a late meeting. Now she was curled on the long sofa with a blanket over her legs, one hand still holding a pen, her hair loose and a little messy over the pillow. She looked soft and sleepy, and because she was an omega, she had a light scent that always made Bai Li feel calm. It was warm, clean, and a little sweet, like white tea and peach blossom. Bai Li could smell it even from where she stood, and it made her own pulse settle in a way no medicine ever could.
Bai Li walked quietly to the sofa and stopped beside her wife. Yan Cijin was still asleep, her breathing slow and even. Bai Li looked at her for a long time before bending down to kiss the top of her head. Only then did Yan Cijin stir. Her eyes opened a little, still blurred with sleep, and she reached for Bai Li before even fully waking. "You are back," she murmured. Bai Li’s voice was low. "I am back." Yan Cijin rubbed her eyes and smiled in a sleepy way that made Bai Li want to hold her forever. "You worked too late again." Bai Li sat on the edge of the sofa. "You waited too late again." Yan Cijin gave her a small look. "I finished my Chapter." "And then fell asleep here." Yan Cijin did not deny it. Instead she moved closer, resting her head against Bai Li’s shoulder. Bai Li held her without hesitation, one hand around her waist, the other brushing her hair back from her face. For a moment neither of them spoke. The office was quiet except for the soft hum of the air system and the distant sound of people moving far below in the building. In the quiet, Bai Li kissed Yan Cijin’s temple. Yan Cijin smiled against her shoulder. "Did you eat?" she asked. Bai Li paused. Yan Cijin lifted her head and looked at her with clear suspicion. "Bai Li." Bai Li sighed in defeat. "Not yet." Yan Cijin’s eyes narrowed. "Again?" Bai Li tried to remain calm. "I had coffee." Yan Cijin sat up fully and looked at her wife with the same expression she used when correcting a bad sentence. "Coffee is not breakfast." Bai Li lowered her eyes. "I was waiting to eat with you." Yan Cijin stared at her for a second, then her face softened. She knew that excuse, and she knew Bai Li used it often when she wanted attention. "You are shameless," she said, but her voice was gentle. Bai Li leaned closer and kissed her cheek. "Only with you."
Soon after, the two were sitting together in Bai Li’s private dining room, eating a simple breakfast that Yan Cijin had asked the chef to prepare. There were steamed buns, egg soup, fresh fruit, and a plate of little pastries shaped like clouds. Bai Li sat with her sleeves rolled up a little, looking less like a fierce CEO now and more like a woman enjoying a peaceful morning with her wife. Yan Cijin watched her over the top of her tea cup, then smiled. "You are calmer after eating." Bai Li swallowed and said, "You make me calmer." Yan Cijin blinked once, then smiled like she had won something. "That is because I am good at this." Bai Li looked at her. "At what?" Yan Cijin lifted her chin. "At being your wife." Bai Li almost laughed. "You sound very proud." "I am proud," Yan Cijin said. "You are the best husband in the whole city." Bai Li gave a faint cough. In public, Yan Cijin liked to tease her with words like that, even though in private she liked to call Bai Li her wife too, and Bai Li never corrected her because she did not mind either way. Bai Li reached across the table and touched Yan Cijin’s hand. "You are also the best wife." Yan Cijin’s ears went a little red, but she still kept smiling. After breakfast, Bai Li had meetings, and Yan Cijin had to leave for a signing event at a nearby bookstore. They parted at the elevator with a quick kiss that looked casual to others but was very obvious to the two of them. Yan Cijin adjusted Bai Li’s tie before stepping away. "Do not skip lunch," she said. Bai Li raised a brow. "And if I do?" Yan Cijin smiled sweetly. "Then I will come to your office and feed you in front of everyone." Bai Li paused. "You would not." Yan Cijin’s face stayed very calm. "Try me." Bai Li knew better than to argue when Yan Cijin made that kind of promise. She watched her wife step into the elevator, graceful and neat in a pale coat, and then turned back toward work with a little more energy than before. 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦
Bai Li’s morning meeting was long, as most of them were. The company she led was huge, with many branches, many projects, and many people who liked to use long reports to hide simple problems. Bai Li did not like that. She sat at the head of the table, reading through numbers and plans with a sharp eye, asking clear questions, and forcing people to answer clearly too. Her alpha control was strong enough that no one dared to play games in front of her for long. By the end of the meeting, two managers looked pale, one project head looked sweaty, and Bai Li had already made three decisions, each clean and fast. The room was quiet after she set her pen down. "This project will be delayed if you keep making excuses," she said. "Fix the supply issue by Friday. If not, replace the team." No one spoke. Bai Li closed the folder and stood up. Her assistant followed behind her with careful steps. As they left the room, Bai Li took out her phone. One message from Yan Cijin was already waiting: "I got to the bookstore. There are too many people. Miss me?" Bai Li stared at the message for a second, then her stern face softened so much that the assistant almost looked away out of respect. Bai Li typed back, "A little." The reply came at once. "Only a little?" Bai Li thought for a moment, then sent, "Very much." She put the phone away before the next message could arrive, because she knew Yan Cijin would not stop there. She was right. Three seconds later, the phone lit up again. "Good. Then work hard and think about me more." Bai Li looked out the window and smiled to herself.
By noon, Bai Li was at the bookstore with a lunch box in hand, because she had decided she was not going to let Yan Cijin spend the whole day eating plain snacks and cold coffee. The signing event was already over, and Yan Cijin was sitting in the private room behind the stage, taking off her microphone with a tired but pleased look on her face. The room was full of flowers sent by fans. Bai Li stepped inside and Yan Cijin looked up at once, her face brightening in a way that made Bai Li’s heart soften hard. "You came," Yan Cijin said. "I said I would." Yan Cijin stood and walked to her, then took the lunch box from her hands like it was a precious thing. "You brought me food." "You ate too little this morning." Yan Cijin opened the box, saw the warm dishes inside, and smiled. "You made the chef add the soup I like." Bai Li did not deny it. "I asked." Yan Cijin’s eyes grew warm. "You always remember." Bai Li looked at the flowers, then back at her wife. "I remember things that matter." Yan Cijin stepped closer and touched Bai Li’s sleeve. "I matter?" Bai Li looked at her for a long second before answering. "You are the most important one." Yan Cijin’s face turned red in an instant, and she lowered her head, clearly pleased. She knew Bai Li could be very direct when she wanted to be, but hearing it still made her heart beat faster every time. She ate the lunch Bai Li brought while Bai Li sat nearby and helped open the drinks and tissues. A staff member came in briefly, saw the two of them, and quietly left again with a look that said they were not going to disturb whatever this was. Yan Cijin noticed and laughed softly. "People always run away when they see us together." Bai Li was calm. "They know better." Yan Cijin smiled wider. "They are afraid of you." Bai Li looked at her. "And you?" Yan Cijin thought for a moment, then leaned over and kissed her wife’s cheek. "I am only afraid of you when you are hungry and stubborn." Bai Li gave her a long look, then reached out and lightly pinched her chin. "Then you should keep feeding me." Yan Cijin laughed, and the sound made Bai Li’s expression gentler again.
In the afternoon, Bai Li brought Yan Cijin home early because the writer had been tired for days and Bai Li had noticed. Their house was large but warm, with a garden, a music room, a study, and a reading corner that Yan Cijin had slowly filled with blankets, tea, and little lamps. Bai Li changed into more comfortable clothes and went to the kitchen to make tea. Yan Cijin followed behind her, slipping her arms around Bai Li from the back for a moment before letting go. "You smell like your work," Yan Cijin said. Bai Li turned her head slightly. "And you smell like books." Yan Cijin smiled. "That is because I am a book." Bai Li gave her a look. "You are impossible." Yan Cijin sat at the kitchen island and watched Bai Li pour tea. "You like impossible things." Bai Li brought the cup over and set it in front of her. "I married one." Yan Cijin nearly laughed into her sleeve. "You are too bold today." Bai Li leaned down and kissed the corner of her mouth. "Only today?" Yan Cijin raised a brow and touched Bai Li’s wrist. "You are usually bold too, but in a quieter way." Bai Li’s hand rested at her waist, warm and steady. "You noticed that?" "I notice everything you do when you want to make me blush." Bai Li’s eyes became a little darker with amusement. "Then I will have to try harder." Yan Cijin pretended to look serious, but the smile at the edge of her mouth betrayed her. "Do not. I still have work to do." Bai Li moved closer. "Your work can wait ten minutes." Yan Cijin looked up at her through her lashes, then softly said, "You say that like you are not trying to distract me." Bai Li did not deny it. She kissed her again, this time slower, as if she had all the time in the world. Yan Cijin melted into the kiss without effort, her fingers tightening on Bai Li’s sleeve. Bai Li liked that best, the way her wife always responded so naturally to her touch, like she trusted her with every part of herself. When they finally separated, Yan Cijin’s cheeks were pink, and she made a small, unhappy sound when Bai Li stepped back. Bai Li looked satisfied. "There. Now you can go write." Yan Cijin glared at her, but the glare was weak and lovely. "You are the one being naughty." Bai Li’s voice was smooth. "You say that every day." "Because it is true every day." Bai Li smiled, and Yan Cijin had no answer for that.
That evening they went on a date, because Yan Cijin had declared, with full seriousness, that work could not swallow their whole week. Bai Li had agreed immediately and had even chosen the restaurant herself, a quiet place by the river with soft lights, private tables, and a balcony view of the water. Yan Cijin had changed into a long cream dress, and Bai Li had worn a dark coat over a fitted shirt, looking as elegant as ever. When they walked in together, a few people turned to look, then quickly turned away. Their marriage was well known, and people always seemed to stare when they were seen together, because Bai Li and Yan Cijin had a strange kind of balance that made others look twice. One was a strong alpha who controlled a giant company. The other was a respected omega writer whose calm face often hid a sharp mind. Together, they looked like a pair from a story. At the table, Yan Cijin leaned her chin on one hand and watched Bai Li read the menu. "What are you smiling about?" Bai Li asked without looking up. "I am thinking that my wife is very handsome." Bai Li lowered the menu and gave her a flat look. "That is a dangerous thing to say in public." Yan Cijin smiled sweetly. "Why? Because it is true?" Bai Li set the menu down and reached for her hand. "Because you make me lose focus." Yan Cijin squeezed her fingers. "Good." Bai Li looked at her with clear helplessness and a little warmth. "You are becoming bolder." "You taught me." Bai Li had no reply for that either. During dinner they talked about small things. Yan Cijin told her about a new character she was writing, a woman who pretended to be cold but secretly kept every little gift someone gave her. Bai Li listened and said, "That sounds like you." Yan Cijin blinked. "Me?" Bai Li nodded. "You keep every note, every ribbon, every silly thing I bring home." Yan Cijin’s face softened. "Because you give them to me." Bai Li looked at her for a second, then said, "Then I will keep giving them." Yan Cijin smiled and felt her heart turn soft in that quiet, full way that always happened when Bai Li spoke honestly. After dinner they walked by the river under a row of small lanterns, their fingers linked together. The night breeze moved across the water, and Yan Cijin leaned lightly against Bai Li’s shoulder while they walked. "Do you know," Yan Cijin said, "I still like going on dates with you more than anything else." Bai Li glanced at her. "More than sleeping?" Yan Cijin smiled and looked ahead. "That depends on the night." Bai Li laughed softly, and Yan Cijin joined in. Their hands stayed together the whole walk home.
When they got back, the house was quiet except for the soft sound of the heating system and the faint rustle of the curtains. Bai Li took off her coat and loosened her sleeves. Yan Cijin sat on the couch first, then patted the space beside her. Bai Li sat down, and Yan Cijin immediately leaned into her, resting her head on her shoulder. "You look tired," Yan Cijin said. Bai Li answered honestly, "A little." Yan Cijin reached for her hand and rubbed the back of it with her thumb. "Then let me be good to you tonight." Bai Li turned to look at her. "You are always good to me." Yan Cijin’s eyes softened at that. She kissed Bai Li’s jaw, then the corner of her mouth, and Bai Li’s body relaxed in a way it only ever did around her. They stayed on the couch for a while, sharing tea, talking about the day, and laughing at a funny story Yan Cijin told about a fan who had tried to give her a packet of lucky candies and then turned bright red when Bai Li walked in to pick her up. Bai Li listened with interest. "What did you say to the fan?" Yan Cijin thought for a second. "I told her thank you." Bai Li raised a brow. "Only that?" Yan Cijin smiled. "And I told her my wife was waiting." Bai Li stared at her, then lowered her head with a faint cough. Yan Cijin laughed and touched her ear. "You are blushing." Bai Li answered in a low voice, "You say things too directly." Yan Cijin only smiled and kissed her again. Bai Li’s hand slid around her waist, drawing her closer. The kisses between them became slower, warmer, full of the soft hunger that had nothing to do with pain and everything to do with love. Bai Li was often called naughty by Yan Cijin because she liked to tease her wife, to trap her in small kisses, to hold her too close, to whisper little things into her ear when Yan Cijin was trying to write, but Yan Cijin was no less dangerous. She knew exactly how to make Bai Li lose focus. A hand on the wrist, a look over the shoulder, a sweet little smile, and Bai Li would forget what she had been thinking about only moments before. Tonight was no different. Yan Cijin slid her arms around Bai Li’s neck and smiled against her mouth. "You keep distracting me on purpose," she said. Bai Li’s voice was low. "You keep allowing it." Yan Cijin had no answer because that was also true.
Later they went upstairs to bed together, carrying the softness of the evening with them. The bedroom was warm and dim, lit only by one small lamp on the table and the moonlight at the window. Bai Li changed first and then turned to see Yan Cijin sitting on the bed brushing out her hair with slow care. The sight of her in loose sleep clothes, with her long hair falling over one shoulder, made Bai Li stop for a second. Yan Cijin noticed at once and smiled. "What are you staring at?" Bai Li walked closer. "You." Yan Cijin lowered the brush and looked up at her. "That is obvious." Bai Li sat beside her and took the brush from her hand, then began to brush her hair for her instead. Yan Cijin let out a pleased little sigh and leaned back against Bai Li’s chest. "You are good at this." Bai Li’s fingers moved through her hair with gentle care. "I am good at taking care of what belongs to me." Yan Cijin turned her head a little. "And what belongs to you?" Bai Li looked at her in the mirror, eyes quiet and steady. "You." Yan Cijin went still for a moment, then smiled in a way that was soft and almost shy. "You always say the best things when you are trying to be bad." Bai Li set the brush down and kissed her shoulder. "Trying?" Yan Cijin laughed and turned in her arms, kissing her lightly on the mouth. Bai Li answered at once, and the kiss grew warm, slow, and close, the kind that made time feel less important. The rest of the night slipped into gentle touches, quiet whispers, and the soft comfort of shared warmth. Bai Li held Yan Cijin close under the blanket and pressed kisses to her hair, her brow, her lips, while Yan Cijin smiled sleepily and tugged her nearer whenever Bai Li tried to move away. At one point Yan Cijin murmured, half asleep, "You are too good at tempting me." Bai Li kissed her temple. "You started it." Yan Cijin gave a small sleepy sound. "I know." Then she added, with just enough awake mischief to make Bai Li laugh, "But I like it." Bai Li tucked her closer and smiled into her hair. There were many things they did not say aloud, many things that belonged only to the room and the dark and their shared trust, but the feeling between them was easy to understand. It was love that had been lived in, touched daily, laughed over, kissed into place, and chosen again every morning.
Before sleep took them, Yan Cijin lay with her face against Bai Li’s chest and listened to her heartbeat. Bai Li’s hand moved slowly up and down her back, warm and steady, and the room felt like a safe harbor after a long day at sea. "Tomorrow," Yan Cijin murmured sleepily, "you have the morning investment review." Bai Li sighed softly. "You are ruining my peace." Yan Cijin smiled without opening her eyes. "I am protecting your future." Bai Li gave a quiet laugh and kissed the top of her head. "And after that?" Yan Cijin’s lips curved even in sleep. "After that, you come home." Bai Li held her a little tighter. "I always come home." Yan Cijin hummed in contentment. "Good." Bai Li stayed awake for a while longer, looking at the woman in her arms and thinking that, even in a world full of business, power, scent bonds, and social rules, there was nothing more important than this quiet room and the person sleeping in it with her. Her life was large, busy, and full of pressure, and Yan Cijin’s was full of words and deadlines and public attention, but when the day ended they always returned to each other, as naturally as breathing. Bai Li kissed her wife one last time on the forehead, then closed her eyes and let sleep take them both, wrapped close together in the kind of ordinary, lasting love that felt like the strongest thing in the world.

To be continued.
Hello dear readers. I hope you guys are enjoying this novel. I have been a lot busy for the past week due to exams and I have not been able to put forward more of the story and even the last few Chapters before the extras were just drafts which needed a lot of corrections but I had to upload them without correcting them due to my exams. Anyway, From tomorrow, hopefully, I will again be able to properly write and don’t worry, I will also thoroughly correct the past 5 or so Chapters [Not the extras] as I know there are a lot of faults and inconsistencies in them.
Anyway, These extra Chapters are something I am extremely fond of and I still have quite a few more which I wrote in my free time. I will see whether I can upload the following story or the EXTRA Chapters. But whichever they are, I am sure you guys will enjoy them thoroughly.
Again, thanks for reading and please help this poor author by donating power stones or gifts and please share this novel to as many of your friends and social media as possible. I will be extremely grateful.
