Chapter 91: Going out 1.

It seemed that after the zombie outbreak, a lot of people had already hidden themselves away in their homes or workplaces and were too scared to come out. The streets were basically empty except for the jagged figures of the zombies moving around in broken, unsteady ways. Bai Li said, "There are far fewer zombies in the hospital this morning than yesterday. We should be able to get home safely." She did not bother explaining much more than that. Instead, she handed the binoculars over to Yan Cijin so she could see for herself. Bai Li’s own eyes then dropped to the office door, which was still blocked by a pile of tables, chairs, and other things they had stacked there before. Yan Cijin looked through the binoculars for a while and saw that there were indeed many zombies outside on the streets too. The whole city looked dead and unsafe, not just the hospital. After that, she put the binoculars away and looked back at Bai Li, waiting for her to make the next decision. Bai Li saw that Yan Cijin had finished checking and then picked up her backpack. She took the binoculars back, put them inside her own bag, and handed the kukri to Yan Cijin. Her gaze moved over Yan Cijin as she spoke softly, "Here, the rule is the same as yesterday. You must protect yourself and become stronger. I will try my best to keep both of us safe." Yan Cijin smiled and answered, "Okay, I’ll try my best not to hold you back." She said it with a light smile because she knew that even though Bai Li tried to sound harsh with those words, in a dangerous situation Bai Li would still throw herself in front of her to protect her. Bai Li nodded once, put her backpack on again, and carried the long knife in her right hand as she walked toward the office door. Lin Da, who had been watching all of this, got startled when he saw Bai Li heading over there. He pointed at her and asked, "You, what are you doing?" Bai Li bent down and started moving the chairs blocking the doorway, then turned her head and looked at him with a cold expression. "What? You have a problem with that?" she asked. Her tone was flat and sharp, and it made Lin Da shrink back immediately. She turned around again, still carrying her Tang sword, and kept moving the blockage. Lin Da got so frightened that he stepped back several times at once, waving his hands fast and saying, "No, no, I was just asking. At least we’re safe now. If you move all these things, won’t the zombies rush in?" Zhang Fan also jumped in right away. "Yeah, I think you shouldn’t be impulsive. It’s not like you’re the only one here. The five of us didn’t agree to you moving the things by the door." His eyes moved toward Yan Cijin again as he spoke, and his brows were pulled together tightly. He had actually wanted to argue with Bai Li earlier, especially when she had spoken to Yan Cijin the way she did. Yan Cijin was the beauty everyone in their hospital knew, the kind of girl people talked about because she seemed distant and untouchable. Zhang Fan had feelings for her too, and he had always thought that at least one day he might get close to her. But now this woman from who knows where had suddenly snatched their goddess away from them. That made Zhang Fan furious. He wished he could just rush over and pull Yan Cijin back by force. Bai Li sneered and raised one eyebrow, then asked in a dry voice, "Where did these five people come from?" Zhang Fan got even more angry after hearing that, and he pointed at Yan Cijin. "Dr. Yan is from our hospital. You must have coerced her into coming with you." Bai Li looked at him and was almost speechless at how stupid his logic sounded. She stared at him like he was an idiot who could not even understand a basic situation. Then Bai Li looked at Yan Cijin and asked very calmly, "Are you with me, or with them?" Yan Cijin did not hesitate at all. "Of course I’m with you. Didn’t we agree on that yesterday?" She reached out, grabbed Bai Li’s wrist, and smiled as she said it, while coldly looking at those bastards. Bai Li turned back to Zhang Fan again and said, "Did you understand? Shut up if you don’t want to die. I’m not very patient. You guys stopped me just now. If it happens again, I’ll have to take action." Her eyes went cold. Even though her hands were still sore, most of her strength had already come back. Bai Li did not bother with Zhang Fan and the others anymore. She turned around and started moving the tables and chairs away from the door. Yan Cijin helped too, pulling away some of the chairs and clearing space. Zhang Fan was furious when he heard Yan Cijin choose Bai Li, but when he remembered how ruthless Bai Li was, he could only force that anger back down and glare at the two of them through clenched teeth. Bai Li moved fast. After more than ten minutes, she had cleared everything away from the doorway. Then she leaned down and looked through the glass in the medical office door. She saw two zombies wandering around at the entrance, but apart from that, there were no more zombies in the corridor on this side. She nodded at Yan Cijin and tightened her grip on the Tang sword. Zhang Fan and the others watched Bai Li as she prepared to leave. They were angry, but they could not say anything out loud. Lin Da lowered his voice and whispered, "Once they go out, we have to block the door immediately. We already gave Yan Cijin a chance.
