Surviving the Zombie Apocalypse With My Military System
Chapter 287: The Discussion with the President in Person
In the secure confines of the Cheyenne Mountain Complex’s large conference room, President William Barry sat at the head of the long, polished table. Flanked by his top advisors and military officials, the atmosphere was one of grave seriousness. The walls of the room, lined with screens displaying various global hotspots, added to the urgency of the gathering.
Richard Gonzales, leading the Blackwatch team, took a seat opposite the President. Mark, Sara, and Graves positioned themselves strategically around the room, their eyes constantly scanning their surroundings. Lisa sat quietly beside her brother and was determined to not cause any interruptions during the meeting.
President Barry cleared his throat, breaking the brief silence. "Mr. Gonzales, let’s cut to the chase. The world as we know it is in chaos. Your team’s intervention and capabilities have caught our attention, and frankly, we need all the help we can get. The footage you sent was... unsettling, to say the least."
Richard nodded, his expression solemn. "Mr. President, what you saw in the footage is just the tip of the iceberg. Lin Feng and his forces are unlike anything we’ve encountered before. Our mission is to neutralize this threat, but it’s a task too big for any one group to handle alone."
A military advisor, General Davis, leaned forward. "Your resources and knowledge about these supernatural entities could be invaluable to our efforts. But we need to understand more about Blackwatch’s capabilities. How do you propose we collaborate?"
"We have intel, resources, and, most importantly, firsthand experience with these threats," Richard began. "Our immediate goal is to establish a joint task force, combining our expertise with your military strength. Time is not on our side, and we need to act fast."
President Barry nodded thoughtfully. "Agreed. General Davis, coordinate with Mr. Gonzales on this. We’ll need to mobilize quickly."
"Understood, sir," General Davis replied, turning his attention to Richard. "So, what weapons do we need to kill these threats?"
Richard leaned forward as he steepled his hand, and placed it on the desk. "Well, are you familiar with Superman?"
"Superman? As in the comics and the movies?" Davis answered, tilting his head to the side, seemingly confused.
"Yes...Superman," Richard confirmed. "Well, Lin Feng is like Superman. Conventional weapons wouldn’t kill him but it doesn’t necessarily mean it won’t kill him. So far, the only thing that killed him nearly is through a low-yield tactical nuke."
"So you also possessed a low-yield tactical nuke huh?" Davis mused. "Well, the United States still has one percent of its nuclear arsenal so we can use that to kill Lin Feng, but I’m puzzled as to why you are using your nuclear weapons—I won’t ask where you get it, to attack random cities? Wouldn’t it be better to use your stockpile of nuclear weapons to kill Lin Feng?"
General Davis’s question hung in the air, bringing a tense silence to the room. Richard’s gaze was steady as he considered his response. He can’t tell General Davis that he is striking cities with his nukes to gain experience points and gold coins, which would defeat the purpose of hiding the system he exclusively has.
"Think of it as culling the numbers of zombies around the world, so that when we defeat Lin Feng, there’d be fewer zombies to clean up."
General Davis raised an eyebrow but seemed to accept the explanation. "Strategic containment of the infected, I see. But we need to focus on neutralizing Lin Feng without resorting to nuclear options unless absolutely necessary."
"Don’t worry, we still have plenty," Richard replied. "If the opportunity arises, we will ask you to use your nuclear arsenal and kill Lin Feng. Speaking of which, where are they?"
"We have hunter-killer subs in the Pacific, the USS Indiana, and the USS Tennessee, both armed with low-yield tactical nukes. We also have B-2 bombers on standby at Whiteman Air Force Base, ready to deploy if necessary."
"I’m curious and I believe I have asked this, how did the United States lose against the war with an undead?"
"It was a spontaneous event," Barry answered. "Like I told you before, in just an instant, zombies appeared in every state and in our allied countries. We thought at first it was the work of the Russians and the Chinese but when we saw them also suffering the same fate, we realized it was a global phenomenon beyond any one nation’s doing," President Barry explained with a somber tone. "Our military and law enforcement were overwhelmed. The sheer numbers and the suddenness of the outbreak left us scrambling."
General Davis chimed in, "The spread was too rapid, and our conventional tactics were ineffective against the hordes. Not to mention, we had to deal with the chaos among the civilians. It wasn’t just a military battle; it was a fight for survival on all fronts."
Richard listened to their explanation and started to realize just how Lin Feng planned this global chaos. He had to go through that effort and now he seems to be on the verge of dominating the globe and becoming its overlord.
"It’s clear that Lin Feng has orchestrated this chaos on a scale beyond our comprehension," Richard commented."
"Where is he now?" Barry asked.
"Currently, we are tracking him and he is on his way to—" Richard paused as he glanced at Sara. Sara stepped forward and whispered in his ears. "Ahh...according to the latest intel we have on him, he seems to be heading north, seemingly back to his country."
"Speaking of your intel, you haven’t introduced me to your associates here," William noted.
"Ahh...this girl sitting next to me is my little sister, Lisa Gonzales," Richard introduced.
Lisa waved a timid hand.
"And these are Mark, my second-in-command, and Sara, my girlfriend, and analyst," Richard continued. "Meanwhile, this gentleman, Graves, is my head of security detail."
"A pleasure to meet you, Mr. President," Graves introduced them.
Mark and Sara gave a nod of acknowledgment, with Mark maintaining a stoic expression and Sara offering a polite smile.
President Barry shifted his focus back to Richard. "You’ve managed to keep track of Lin Feng’s movements impressively. We need to leverage your intelligence network. The more information we have, the better prepared we’ll be."
Richard agreed, "Our network is at your disposal, Mr. President. We’ll share all relevant intel. In return, we would appreciate access to your military resources and support."
"Consider it done," Barry affirmed. "Our forces will coordinate with Blackwatch to ensure a unified front against Lin Feng and the undead."
General Davis then addressed logistical concerns, discussing supply lines, communication protocols, and joint operation strategies. The conversation shifted towards tactical planning, with Richard providing insight into Lin Feng’s tactics and possible countermeasures.
As the meeting drew to a close, President Barry stood up, extending his hand to Richard. "Mr. Gonzales, this partnership could be the turning point in this crisis. I’m glad we’re on the same side."
Richard shook his hand firmly. "Thank you, Mr. President. We’re in this together. Let’s end this nightmare before the year 2025."
