Surviving the Zombie Apocalypse With My Military System
Chapter 318: Progressing Smoothly
"What kind of monster was that?!" President Barry exclaimed through his monitor. He just watched the Blackwatch Naval Fleet rain hellfire on the aquatic monster, and it was his first time seeing that kind of monster. Throughout his career, having been introduced to a lot of confidential information that would definitely scare the public, that monster was one of them.
"It’s one of Lin Feng’s minions," Richard answered simply. "We called them, Abyssal Leviathan. Well, they are quite strong, like the myth of the Kraken. Can pull down a warship and even crush them using their tentacles. However, they are vulnerable to conventional weapons so as long as we keep pummeling them with leads and arrows, they’ll... eventually succumb," Richard continued.
President Barry, absorbing the explanation, nodded thoughtfully. "How many monsters we haven’t seen except from the video footage you have sent us?"
Richard paused for a moment, considering how much to disclose. "Mr. President, the Abyssal Leviathans are among the more formidable creatures we’ve encountered, but they’re not the only ones. Lin Feng has managed to amass a variety of creatures, each with unique abilities and threats. However, our encounters have been limited, and we’re still gathering intelligence on the full extent of his arsenal."
"The exact number is uncertain. We’ve seen evidence of other entities, some terrestrial, some aerial, beyond the Leviathans. Our teams are working around the clock to identify, classify, and develop countermeasures for each threat," Richard elaborated, his tone serious.
President Barry leaned back, processing the information. "On behalf of the United States, I would like to apologize for lacking information on the zombie apocalypse. We were preserving what was left and had been hiding deep in the mountains while we came up with plans to reclaim our planet. We don’t know if it’ll come to this degree."
"Mr. President, these are unprecedented times. Every nation has been forced to make difficult choices to ensure the survival of its people. What matters now is that we’re united in our efforts to reclaim our planet and protect humanity from these threats."
He continued, "Blackwatch has been on the frontline, encountering these threats head-on. With the support of the United States, we’re making significant strides. Speaking of which, forces are nearing Hong Kong. It’s time that we execute phase 2 of our plan."
The Phase 2 Richard is telling was Operation Clear Sky. Its objective is to clear Hong Kong of hostile forces, and by hostile, they meant zombies. The first part would be through the use of Air Forces, fighter jets, bomber aircraft, gunships, and close-in support aircraft to conduct preliminary strikes on key enemy positions, aiming to soften up defenses and eliminate high-value targets that could pose a significant threat to the ground forces.
"We’ll be using precision airstrikes to minimize collateral damage while maximizing the impact on enemy forces. Drones will provide real-time surveillance, ensuring that our strikes are as effective as possible," Richard outlined the air strategy. Following the aerial bombardment, our ground troops will move in. And clear everything that’s left."
"Okay, let’s execute that phase," Barry said with a determined tone.
Hearing that, Richard flickered his gaze to Mark. "Let’s start warning the citizens of Hong Kong, shall we?"
Mark nodded and began relaying the command to the EC-130H Compass Call flying over Hong Kong Airspace.
***
The EC-130H Compass Call, a specialized aircraft equipped with advanced electronic warfare systems, was already airborne, circling at high altitudes over Hong Kong. Its crew, experts in electronic warfare and communication interception, had been briefed on their mission: to hack into the public address systems scattered across the city and broadcast a critical warning to the citizens. The goal was to minimize civilian casualties during the upcoming air strikes against the zombie hordes.
Inside the aircraft, the crew worked diligently to establish connections with the city’s communication infrastructure. The operator responsible for the hack carefully bypassed security protocols, gaining access to the public address systems without triggering any alarms.
Once the system was compromised, the technician nodded to the mission commander, indicating readiness to broadcast. The commander, after a final check with the team, gave the nod to proceed.
"Attention, citizens of Hong Kong. This is Blackwatch Private Military Company, in cooperation with the United States Government. We urge you to seek immediate shelter and brace for impact. Air forces from Blackwatch and the United States are about to commence strategic bombing operations against concentrated zones of hostile forces within the city. For your safety, remain indoors and do not attempt to leave your location until rescue and search teams have reached you. Help is on the way. We are here to assist and ensure your safety during these operations. Thank you for your cooperation."
The broadcast was repeated multiple times, alternating between English and Chinese to ensure comprehension across Hong Kong’s diverse population. The EC-130H Compass Call crew monitored the transmission’s reach, adjusting frequencies and power outputs to penetrate as deep into the urban fabric as possible, ensuring no corner of the city remained uninformed.
Simultaneously, the operation’s air component was in full swing. Fighter jets such as the F-35s, equipped with precision-guided munitions, began their sorties, targeting identified concentrations of undead with surgical strikes designed to inflict maximum damage on the enemy while preserving the city’s infrastructure as much as possible. Bomber aircraft, such as the B-52 flying at higher altitudes, released their payloads over larger infested areas, each bomb was carefully chosen for its yield and blast radius to ensure the eradication of the undead with minimal risk to any surviving civilians.
Gunships, specifically the AC-130, flying lower and slower, provided close air support, their cannons, and rockets shredding through the hordes. These aerial platforms were coordinated through a network of drones that hovered above, relaying real-time battlefield data back to command centers where analysts and officers assessed the situation, directing strikes where they were needed most.
On the ground, Citizens, already wary from months of living under the shadow of Lin Feng’s reign of terror, took the warning seriously. Homes and shelters across Hong Kong braced themselves, windows shuttered, and doors locked as families huddled together, waiting for the storm to pass.
They hoped that the explosions would kill all the remaining zombies.
The strikes were just the beginning of Operation Clear Sky. Following the air campaign, Blackwatch and U.S. ground forces would move in, sweeping through the city in a coordinated effort to eliminate any remaining threats. Armored vehicles, including M1 Abrams tanks and Stryker armored fighting vehicles, would lead the charge, their heavy firepower clearing a path for infantry units to follow.
These ground forces were equipped with the latest in personal protective gear and armed with an arsenal designed to take on both the undead and any of Lin Feng’s more exotic creations. Special units, trained in urban warfare and counter-zombie tactics cleared buildings, sewers, and subways, ensuring no corner of Hong Kong remained a haven for the enemy.
Richard watched the map of Hong Kong, which was layered in red, slowly getting crept by a green layer, signifying the progression of Operation Clear Sky and the reclaiming of Hong Kong from the undead and Lin Feng’s control.
"Things are going as planned," Richard muttered under his breath.
