Synthetic Wizard
Chapter 273 - 176: The Truth of the Wizard’s Inheritance
Sunan retracted his palm, a relaxed smile on his face.
The first round of assessment was almost no difficulty for him, only the final magic learning took a bit more time.
[Now begin the second test, the skill assessment.]
[Please choose the type you want to be assessed on from the following four skills.]
[Potion crafting, Biological Transformation, Magic item crafting, Puppet Refining.]
"Skill assessment, huh."
Sunan hesitated very little and quickly chose Puppet Refining.
Besides having the highest skill level in Puppet Refining, he also had the most high-level puppet designs at hand.
If he chose potion crafting or magic item crafting and was tasked to make high-level potions or Micro-Light Level magic items, he’d be at a loss.
After all, so far, he had only obtained high-level potions and Micro-Light Level magic items through synthesis, without actual formulas or designs.
In contrast, for puppetry—from Clay Golems, Stone Golems, Steel Golems, to Refined Gold Golems and Secret Puppets—he possessed designs ranging from Knight Level to Tier Four Legendary Level, allowing him to handle any kind of puppet required in the assessment more confidently.
Just as Sunan chose Puppet Refining, a door suddenly opened on the wall to his right, and a team of Clay Golems carrying materials walked out.
They were carrying various metals, gemstones, and soul crystals.
Sunan even saw high-grade gemstones and small soul crystals among them.
After placing down the materials, the Clay Golems returned behind the door, followed by a series of heavy footsteps, and a tall figure emerged from it.
It was a gigantic puppet!
Standing about seven or eight meters tall, composed entirely of massive bones, with eerie dark red bloodlight emanating from its pupils, exuding a stench and malevolence.
In its hand, it held a sharp bone battleaxe.
Skeleton Golem!
Sunan immediately recognized the origin of the golem in front of him.
A type of golem made primarily from biological bones, commonly used by Wizards (apprentices) specializing in the Undead Faction.
"Could it be that the builder of the Star Tower specialized in the Undead Faction?"
Sunan pondered silently.
[Challenge time remaining: 87 days, 22 hours, and 18 minutes. Please craft a puppet that can destroy the Skeleton Golem within the allotted time. The number is indefinite; failure to destroy the Skeleton Golem before the time expires or all materials are consumed will result in failure.]
Sunan felt a slight relief; this assessment task was much less strenuous.
The combat power of the Skeleton Golem was about the same as a Steel Golem.
While one Steel Golem might not be enough to destroy the Skeleton Golem, two certainly would be.
To date, Sunan had refined hundreds of Steel Golems, and the refining process was as familiar to him as could be; crafting two Steel Golems would take less than a day.
And indeed, in less than a day, two brand new Steel Golems were produced.
Then came the battle.
As Sunan anticipated, the two Steel Golems easily suppressed the Skeleton Golem, dismantling it into a pile of bones in less than ten minutes.
[Pass!]
A beam of light suddenly shot out from nowhere, instantly disassembling one of the Steel Golems into a pile of metal scraps.
The next moment, another beam of light struck, and the second Steel Golem broke into pieces as well.
Rumble.
The Clay Golems emerged from the door again, taking the materials back inside, while cleaning up the bones and metal fragments on the floor.
[Now begin the third test, the actual combat assessment!]
As the voice fell, the opposite wall suddenly rumbled open from both sides, revealing a vast darkness.
A massive gray hand suddenly extended from the darkness, followed by an arm, head, torso, and lower body.
A gigantic creature soon appeared before Sunan.
It was an enormous giant, its skin a deep gray with a hint of green, adorned with dark and light patterns, and its neck, shoulders, and arms covered with coin-sized bone and skin chunks resembling pebbles.
Its face lacked eyebrows, with protruding brow bones, a broad jaw, and its head also dotted with hard lumps.
Its entire body was hairless, not even a hair on its bald head. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞
"Goliath!"
Sunan raised an eyebrow, recognizing the creature’s origin.
Goliaths are a type of the Giant Race, immensely strong, naturally able to manipulate airflow.
These Otherworldly Creatures, upon reaching adulthood, possess power approaching Tier Three Legendary to Tier Four Legendary, making them extremely powerful, born warriors.
After crawling out from behind the door, the Goliath immediately stood upright, reaching a height of fifteen or sixteen meters, and with its massive and burly gray-green body, emanating an overwhelming sense of towering mountain-like pressure.
[Defeat the trial creature to pass!]
Sunan recalled the disassembled Steel Golems earlier and couldn’t help but purse his lips.
This assessment really leaves no loopholes.
"Roar!"
The Goliath roared, raising its massive Wolf Fang Club, charging at Sunan like a tank, the fierce air blast causing Sunan’s robe to billow continuously.
His expression unchanged, Sunan willed, and countless silver metal liquid surged from his body, transforming into a metal storm that engulfed the Goliath!
Swish, swish, swish!
The muffled sounds of blades slicing through flesh echoed incessantly in the hall, drowning out any wails of agony.
After only a few breaths, the metal storm receded, vanishing back into Sunan’s body.
