Chapter 87: Chapter 87: Excited Kevin Everett

As Jayce walked out of the room, the living room grew misty, like a fine spring drizzle.

Seeing that Jayce was alright, Yvonne Shelby was no longer worried.

Still, looking at Jayce in this state, Yvonne Shelby didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. "Jayce, what’s going on? Can’t you rein it in a little?"

Jayce scratched his head, his expression turning annoyed, but mostly helpless. "I don’t want this either! But I can’t control it."

He felt like he was a human sprinkler right now.

Who in their right mind would want to be a human sprinkler?

Kevin Everett had always been the serious and stern type, but even he couldn’t help but laugh at the sight.

"It probably won’t be like this forever. You’ll be fine once you get used to it!"

Sierra Sullivan nodded in agreement. "That’s right, you’ll be fine once you get used to it! It’s not a big deal!"

"Sierra!" Jayce looked at Sierra Sullivan pitifully. "How could you say that too?"

Watching the whining Jayce, Sierra Sullivan found it both amusing and a little funny.

"If I don’t say that, what should I say? What level do you think your Superpower is at now?"

When it came to business, Jayce’s expression instantly turned much more serious.

"I think I’m almost at the Fourth Level."

"That high!"

Although she knew the Crystal Core contained a vast amount of energy that would significantly boost his Superpower, Sierra Sullivan was still shocked to hear how much it had improved.

Sierra Sullivan wasn’t the only one who was shocked; Kevin Everett was just as stunned.

"Then if you absorb a few more Crystal Cores, won’t you reach the Fourth Level?"

Kevin Everett didn’t have a Superpower himself, so he wasn’t entirely sure what a Fourth Level Superpower entailed.

After a moment of thought, Kevin Everett asked, "Compared to before, how much water can you produce at once now?"

Jayce didn’t answer right away, thinking it over seriously. "Probably about five tons!"

It was one ton before—that’s a fivefold increase!

Along with his shock, Kevin Everett felt an even greater sense of ecstasy.

Raging sand filled the sky, and all the rivers had inexplicably dried up.

Even groundwater couldn’t be pumped.

Currently, aside from scavenged bottled and barreled water, the only source of drinking water was from Water Ability Users.

But the Superpowers of most Water Ability Users were limited, and they could only provide a finite amount of water each day.

Every drop of water in the base had to be used sparingly, and even then, it was far from enough.

But now, the improvement in Jayce’s Superpower would significantly alleviate the pressure on their water supply.

How could this not excite Kevin Everett!

Water is the spring of life.

With Jayce around, they wouldn’t have to worry about the survivors in the base dying of thirst.

Maybe they could even try hydroponic farming.

Just the thought of it made Kevin Everett’s heart race, and all sorts of ideas began to bubble up in his mind.

In the end, however, Kevin Everett managed to suppress his excitement.

No matter how excited he was, it could wait.

"Dinner, dinner!" Kevin Everett declared with a wave of his hand. "Open a few cans, we’re going to celebrate properly! Call everyone else! Let’s all eat together!"

Before long, the rest of the Everett Family came out of their rooms.

Kevin Everett and Yvonne Shelby had three sons in total.

The third was Jayce.

The second was Tim Everett, whose wife was Charlotte Morgan. The two had a son and a daughter, named Julian Everett and Roxanne Everett, respectively.

The eldest was named Quinn Everett, and his wife was Bella Bauer. They had only one son, twelve years old this year, named Howard Everett.

Unlike Tim Everett’s boisterous and restless family, Quinn Everett’s family of three was much more composed and quiet.

Every time Sierra Sullivan had come down before, she had rarely seen the three of them.

Seeing them now, Sierra Sullivan couldn’t help but look a little longer.

The three of them were dressed in casual clothes, neat and clean.

They all had short, clean hair, unlike the survivors outside, who all had greasy mops on their heads.

As Sierra Sullivan was watching, the three seemed to sense her gaze, looked over, and nodded at her with a smile.

Sierra Sullivan didn’t feel awkward at all. She smiled and nodded back in response.

Her rarely seeing them didn’t mean they just stayed in their rooms and did nothing.

On the contrary, though none of the three were Superpower Users, they were not idle in the slightest. Each of them helped Kevin Everett manage the base’s affairs in their own areas of expertise.

Even twelve-year-old Howard Everett would often go to the house where the orphans were kept, studying with the other children and encouraging them.

These three truly embodied what it meant to be worthy heirs of a prominent family.

No matter the circumstances, they wouldn’t be easily defeated. Instead, they would quickly adapt to their environment and do whatever they could to contribute.

But Sierra Sullivan also knew that becoming such a person was no easy feat.

Not everyone in the world could achieve that.

"Alright!"

Kevin Everett spoke, drawing everyone’s attention.

"Today, whether for our family or for the entire base, is a momentous day that deserves a proper celebration!"

Jayce was also sitting at the table, causing the whole dining room to be filled with mist.

But not a single person found it annoying; in fact, they were quite happy about it.

The sandstorms blew nonstop every day, making the air terribly dry.

Even staying indoors, their skin would become parched, and their lips would crack until they nearly bled.

Now, Jayce was like a human humidifier, moistening the air around them.

Everyone only felt more comfortable, so of course, no one was bothered in the slightest.

A fine day like this was actually perfect for a celebratory toast.

However, given the special circumstances, a toast was naturally out of the question.

The group was more than content just to sit together and quietly eat a relatively lavish meal.

After the meal, Jayce finally stopped being a humidifier and returned completely to normal.

Jayce and Sierra Sullivan wasted no more time. They quickly disguised themselves, preparing to check out the trading market in the underground garage.

Before leaving, Sierra Sullivan walked over to Candice Tate. "Candice, you be good and stay with Aunt Shelby. Big Sister will definitely be back soon!"

Candice Tate’s eyes were filled with reluctance, but she didn’t cry or make a fuss. Instead, she nodded obediently. "Big Sister, I know! I’ll be good and wait for you to come back!"

"Such a good girl!"

Ruffling Candice Tate’s hair, Sierra Sullivan finally stood up, ready to head out with Jayce.

"Wait!" Kevin Everett called out to them.

Sierra Sullivan and Jayce turned to look at Kevin Everett at the same time.

Kevin Everett looked at them with a serious expression. "Be careful with everything! Don’t act impulsively! Come back safe!"

"Don’t worry!" Jayce made a gesture. "We’ll definitely come back safe!"

...

The underground parking garage.

For a luxury residential complex, the underground parking garage was built to be just as luxurious.

Before the apocalypse, this place would have been brightly lit, looking less like an underground garage and more like a car exhibition center—one that only displayed luxury vehicles!
