Chapter 39: Chapter 39: Bai Lian Goes Berserk

Not far away, a huge white lion lay on the ground, sound asleep.

Its body was powerful and well-built, its fur as white as snow, yet it was covered in black stains, looking utterly out of place in this darkness.

Its body rose and fell faintly with each breath, and a soft halo of light emanated from it, as if stubbornly resisting the dark world around it.

Su Yaoyao approached cautiously. She thought the White Lion’s appearance strongly resembled Bai Lian.

She called out softly, "Leon?" Her voice sounded faint and ethereal in the dead-silent world, and it was quickly swallowed by the darkness.

When the White Lion didn’t respond, Su Yaoyao raised a hand and gently placed it on its body. She slowly closed her eyes, focused her mind, and a continuous stream of spiritual power flowed from her palm into the White Lion.

However, the White Lion remained completely unresponsive, as if it had sunk into an endless abyss of sleep.

Su Yaoyao was frantic. Large beads of sweat rolled down her forehead. She gritted her teeth, raised her other hand, and pushed with both, pouring even more spiritual power into it.

As she continuously infused it with spiritual power, the black stains on the White Lion’s body gradually began to fade.

Just as Su Yaoyao was beginning to feel a flicker of relief, the White Lion’s eyes snapped open. A frigid light shot from its blue irises, like two incomparably sharp blades instantly slicing through the thick darkness.

The White Lion’s gaze was fixed directly on Su Yaoyao, and its icy stare made her scalp tingle with fear.

Su Yaoyao gasped in fear and snatched her hand back. She instinctively tried to retreat, but her legs had turned to jelly, and she collapsed to the ground.

The moment she moved, the White Lion’s pupils constricted. It shot to its feet and lunged at Su Yaoyao like an arrow shot from a bow, opening its gaping maw before her and letting out a deafening roar.

"ROAR!!!"

"AHHH!!!" Su Yaoyao screamed, shutting her eyes in terror.

In the real world, the instant the White Lion awoke, Bai Lian’s eyes flew open, a frenzied light gleaming within them.

The energy in his body surged like a violent tide, uncontrollably pushing him toward his beast form.

Sharp fangs protruded from his mouth, piercing his lower lip. Blood slowly dripped down his chin.

His eyes were bloodshot, glinting with a manic light. Their once-clear blue was nearly consumed by crimson.

"Yaoyao, get out of the Spirit World! Now!" Bai Lian roared, using every ounce of his strength.

He knew he was on the verge of losing his mind. If he went completely berserk, the consequences would be unthinkable.

Enduring the excruciating pain that felt like a million ants crawling under his skin, he used his last shred of conscious will to forcibly sever the Spiritual Link with Su Yaoyao.

Su Yaoyao felt as if her head had been struck by a heavy hammer. After a moment of the world spinning around her, she was violently jolted back to consciousness from the Spirit World.

The first thing she saw was Bai Lian, clutching his head in agony. His body was curled into a ball, and he was thrashing on the floor, letting out muffled, painful groans.

"Bai Lian, what’s wrong?" Su Yaoyao cried out, her face pale with shock. She rushed to his side, her hands hovering over him, unsure of how to help.

"I’m about to lose control... go berserk! Get away!" Bai Lian managed to force out the words, his voice hoarse and distorted with pain.

"How could this be happening?!" Su Yaoyao’s mind was filled with confusion and anxiety. She had clearly been soothing Bai Lian with her spiritual power, so how could it have made him go berserk instead?

She didn’t have time to think. She immediately released her spiritual power, trying to soothe Bai Lian’s raging energy. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚

At the same time, she frantically opened her Light Computer and, with trembling fingers, dialed Pani’s number. Bai Lian had made her add his contact information, worried that she might fall ill.

At that moment, Pani was in his room, tossing and turning. An embarrassing image that made him blush refused to leave his mind.

When Su Yaoyao’s call suddenly appeared on his screen, his heart skipped a beat. He hesitated, then, blushing, finally pressed the answer key.

"Yaoyao..."

"Pani, Bai Lian is going berserk!" Su Yaoyao’s frantic voice burst from the Light Computer.

Pani’s face instantly turned deathly pale. His earlier bashfulness vanished without a trace, replaced by sheer shock and worry.

"Don’t panic! I’m on my way!" He hurriedly hung up and bolted for the door.

Just as he opened the door, he ran into Reg, who was in the living room looking for Su Yaoyao.

Seeing his panicked expression and hurried steps, Reg couldn’t help but frown and ask, "What’s wrong with you?"

"The Admiral is going berserk!" Pani didn’t have time to explain further. He threw the words over his shoulder and kept running.

Reg’s brow instantly furrowed deeply. ’Yaoyao must have gone to find Bai Lian.’

He paid no mind to the fact that he was still under confinement and turned to follow Pani.

Reg and Pani rushed to the library, frantic. The moment they pushed open the door, a thick, oppressive aura washed over them. The scene before them was one of utter chaos.

Bookshelves were knocked askew, books were scattered across the floor, and loose pages fluttered wildly in a turbulent wind.

Bai Lian stood at the center of the chaos. His beast-like features were extremely prominent: his body was several times larger than a normal person’s, his muscles bulged, a layer of fine white fur covered his skin, and his sharp claws were dug deep into the floor, leaving behind a series of shocking gouges.

What was truly stunning, however, was that a sliver of clarity still flickered in his eyes. Though twisted in agony, he was stubbornly clinging to his last shred of sanity. Both Reg and Pani were moved by his astonishing willpower.

Reg reacted instantly. Knowing the situation was critical, he shouted, "All personnel, on my order! Evacuate the area around the library immediately! I want no one left behind!"

His voice boomed like a great bell, cutting clearly through the chaos. The soldiers moved quickly, guiding everyone in the vicinity to evacuate.

At the same time, Reg used his communication device to urgently summon the base’s elite soldiers, ordering them to arrive fully armed and provide backup in case Bai Lian lost control completely and caused irreparable damage.

Su Yaoyao stayed by Bai Lian’s side, her eyes red-rimmed as tears welled up.

She held tightly to Bai Lian’s hands. Although they had become rough and were now covered in sharp claws, she didn’t seem to notice, continuing to pour a steady stream of spiritual power into him.

She kept calling to him, "Leon, hold on! We’ll definitely save you." Her voice was choked with sobs, and every word was filled with anxiety and concern.

A pained roar rumbled from Bai Lian’s throat. The sound, filled with struggle and agony, seemed to rise from the depths of Hell itself, striking a blow to the heart of everyone present with each cry.

Seeing this, Pani was frantic. With trembling hands, he quickly took a Rage Suppressor from his medical kit.

It was their most effective tool and, at that moment, their only hope.

He rushed forward, located Bai Lian’s arm, and injected the suppressor without a moment’s hesitation.

But Bai Lian showed no signs of improvement. The extent of his transformation didn’t lessen in the slightest, and he continued to struggle in agony.

Seeing this, Reg’s brow furrowed tightly, his eyes filled with confusion and worry. He blurted out, "How can this be?"
