That's How We Necromancers Do Things
Chapter 124 - 92: Demigod Pale Elegy! This Little Mouse Is Quite Interesting
The scorching golden flames burned against the Silver Armored Corpse’s silver body. While they couldn’t instantly ignite it like a common Skeleton, they still produced a SIZZLING sound. The flames left behind large, charred patches and continuously depleted the death energy within its body.
In this seesaw battle, although the Silver Armored Corpse was temporarily holding off Golding, it was clearly at a disadvantage. Moreover, as the Holy Flame continued to burn it, its aura was slowly but steadily weakening.
Lynch was at once both relieved and worried.
The good news was that Golding was only a Tier Seven; otherwise, the Silver Armored Corpse probably wouldn’t have lasted this long.
The bad news was that the Holy Flame’s power against the Undead was even more severe than he had imagined.
If things continued like this, the Silver Armored Corpse’s defeat was only a matter of time.
Once the Silver Armored Corpse fell, his remaining Undead Army and the three girls would stand no chance against a frenzied Tier Seven Holy Flame Knight.
Lynch and his Bone Mage had tried casting weakness and Pain Curses on Golding, but the difference in their tiers was too great. Besides, their opponent was of the Holy Light System, which specialized in purification, so the Curse Magic was almost useless.
’This is bad...’ Cold sweat beaded on Lynch’s forehead as his mind began to race once more.
’A direct confrontation is out of the question, but escape is temporarily blocked by Pale Elegy’s power...’
The only saving grace right now was that Pale Elegy seemed to only be interested in preventing their escape. ’It feels like a cat toying with a mouse, all to satisfy her hollow, lonely, and bored soul.’
’I’ve got it!’
In a flash, an almost insane idea sparked in Lynch’s mind, and his eyes lit up.
’Pale Elegy wants to see a "good show," doesn’t she?’
’She wants to satisfy that empty, boring, twisted sense of fun, right?’
’Then I’ll give that empty woman a proper show.’
As the thoughts raced, Lynch glanced at Avril in his arms, and a plan took shape in his mind.
He lowered his voice and spoke quickly into Avril’s ear, "Avril, don’t be afraid. Work with me! Come on, give me a little of your power... We’re about to turn this around."
Avril’s terrified heart inexplicably calmed down a little upon hearing his voice.
But faced with his unreasonable request...
Her small face flushed red. After a moment’s hesitation, she looked up, averting her gaze, and gently pecked Lynch’s cheek with her soft, warm lips.
Then, like a startled fawn, she immediately buried her head back in Lynch’s chest and squeezed her eyes shut, her eyelashes trembling slightly. She looked completely overcome with shyness.
Lynch: "???"
He was completely dumbfounded by the sudden attack. He staggered, nearly falling over with Avril still in his arms.
"I meant for you to give me some of your Holy Light Power! Use Glow Shield to cover both of us! We’re in the middle of a disaster, what are you thinking about?" Lynch said irritably. "And what are you being so shy for?"
"Ah..." Avril nearly fainted. Her already crimson cheeks instantly looked as if they were about to drip blood. She hurriedly waved her Holy Radiance Staff and cast Glow Shield.
A shield emitting a faint, holy glow instantly enveloped the two of them.
Although the shield looked flimsy, it was made of genuine Holy Light Power.
Wasting no more time, Lynch sprinted toward the cave containing the Sacrificial Array, still carrying Avril.
Fortunately, though Lynch was a Necromancer, he was surprisingly fit. He ran quite fast, even while carrying the light-framed Avril.
At the same time, he issued a command to all his Undead Units through their mental link.
All units were to tie up Golding at any cost.
They were to ram him, grab him, block him—even if it meant being reduced to ash, they had to stall him for a single second, drain a single wisp of his Holy Flame!
The next instant, Lynch’s Undead Army went into a complete frenzy.
Skeletons swarmed Golding one after another. As one batch was reduced to ash, the next would immediately rush in to take its place.
For a moment, Golding was trapped in a quagmire of the undead.
Seizing the opportunity, Lynch, still carrying Avril, weaved through the Sea of Skulls like an agile fish. Wherever he passed, the Skeletons parted to form a path.
Soon, he and Avril zipped past Golding, about seven or eight meters away from him.
In the process, the two were inevitably brushed by the Holy Flame Vortex.
However, the shield did not shatter, nor were their bodies scorched by the Holy Flame.
In fact, when the pale golden Holy Flame swept across the surface of the Glow Shield, it actually replenished it with a wave of pure Divine Energy.
The shield’s light seemed to grow even brighter.
’Just as I thought.’
’While the Holy Flame is extremely effective against the Undead, it doesn’t harm allies of the same Holy Light System.’
’It’s the same principle as how even the most intense flame won’t burn fire itself.’
As Lynch sprinted toward the Sacrificial Array and the crystal coffin with Avril in his arms, Golding, in his frenzy, was momentarily stunned.
But then, as if realizing something, his pupils quaked.
"No!!! Stop! What do you think you’re doing?!"
Golding roared in terror and rage. The Holy Flame on his body erupted, forcefully blasting away the charging Skeletons and the Silver Armored Corpse as he chased madly after Lynch.
However, it was too late!
Skeletons, zombies, Abominations, and even the Silver Armored Corpse which wasn’t fully under Lynch’s control... they all desperately entangled Golding, willing to turn to dust just to hold him back for a single moment.
The Silver Armored Corpse even took a full-force blow from Golding’s warhammer with its chest. Its silver torso was deeply caved in, but it held fast to his legs.
That one delay was all it took.
Like a gust of wind, Lynch charged to the center of the cave with Avril, arriving beside the crystal coffin.
He casually set Avril aside, then aimed a vicious kick at the lid of the crystal coffin.
BANG!!!
The coffin lid flew off, and a bone-chilling cold erupted from within.
And inside the coffin, the little girl Esther—dressed in a magnificent court gown, her delicate face as pale as a doll’s—was revealed before Lynch’s eyes.
She emanated a grim, cold aura of death and had clearly been dead for a very long time.
Without a second look, Lynch flicked his wrist and retrieved a Magic Scroll from his Space Ring.
The scroll was inscribed with complex, fiery red runes and faintly pulsed with scorching heat. It was one of the Tier Three Magic Scrolls he had spent a fortune on as a life-saving trump card: the Great Fireball Skill.
Without hesitation, he unfurled the scroll and aimed it at the lifeless body of the little girl in the crystal coffin.
At the same time, he roared at Viscount Golding, who was frantically breaking through the Undead blockade and charging toward him, his eyes practically splitting with rage: "Golding!!!!"
"You—"
"Wouldn’t want your precious daughter—"
"To become a pile of charred remains, would you?!!"
"STOP RIGHT THERE!!!!"
In that instant, time seemed to stand still.
Golding, who had been desperately breaking through the blockade, froze in place.
In the distance, Ophelia and Lilith were also completely stunned.
Even Pale Elegy, who had been elegantly holding her parasol in the air as if watching a magnificent play, was visibly stunned for a moment.
Her gaze drifted downward, and she sized Lynch up with a hint of interest.
’This little mouse... seems a bit interesting~’
