The Alpha Who Regrets Losing Me
Chapter 63 – Shared Body
When Elara opened her eyes, the first thing she felt was silence. This time, the silence did not feel like a void; on the contrary, there was a movement within it. A slow, patient, and careful movement. As if someone was breathing for her, listening to the surroundings in her place. Her body was still heavy, her muscles were tired, but her mind was not the same as before. Something had changed, and this change was not only about power.
When she fixed her gaze on the ceiling, what she saw was not just a metal surface. Every line, every reflection looked sharper, more meaningful. Her senses had expanded. But this was not a recovery. This was a redefinition of control. Elara took a breath, but this breath was not alone. It felt as if it was being shared with another presence within her.
There was no voice inside her, but there was a consciousness. This consciousness did not speak with words, yet its presence could be felt. Elara did not reject this feeling. She only tried to understand it. Because for the first time, instead of fighting this thing, she was considering existing with it.
When the door opened, Adrian walked in. Elara lifted her head, and her gaze met Adrian’s eyes. This moment was brief but clear enough. Adrian noticed it. This look did not belong to the Elara he had seen before. It was deeper, more conscious, and more... crowded.
Adrian watched her for a few seconds without speaking. For him, this was a moment of analysis. He was measuring Elara’s breathing, posture, and the change in her eyes. "You’ve changed," he said finally, his voice calm but cautious.
Elara did not respond. A faint smile appeared at the corner of her lips. This smile was deliberate, but it did not belong entirely to her. Adrian saw this, and it genuinely caught his interest. "What do you feel?" he asked. Elara tilted her head slightly. She did not need to think about the answer. "More," she said. Her voice was calm, but the meaning it carried was far heavier.
Adrian took a step closer. "Are you in control?" he asked. Elara paused briefly. Something moved within her. The answer to this question did not belong to a single person. "Not exactly," she said. And this time, this answer was not a weakness, but an awareness. A faint smile appeared on Adrian’s face. This answer was better than he had expected. Because it showed that control had not been lost, only redistributed.
The experiments were restarted. This time, the platform was more advanced. Devices, sensors, and data flows added on top of the previous system made the environment denser. But when Elara stepped onto the platform, she felt this difference not only with her eyes but together with the presence inside her. They were standing there as more than one being, and they were learning. When Elara realized this, her breathing slowed. This was no longer a one-sided process. This was an interaction. And this interaction was changing both sides.
When the devices activated, the frequency spread through the room again. But this time, Elara’s reaction was different. At first, she stood as if nothing had happened. The energy rose but did not explode uncontrollably. It remained stable. This caught Adrian’s attention. "Adaptation..." he murmured to himself.
Elara closed her eyes. This time, she did not wait for a presence to emerge from within her and chose to go inward herself. The Moon was there, but it was no longer foreign. She was not fighting it. She was trying to understand it and move together with it. And this understanding was the first true step toward control. 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶
An alarm sound cut through the room. Adrian’s attention immediately shifted. The door opened, and the officer who entered spoke briefly and clearly. "They are waiting for you, sir." Adrian was disturbed, but he did not show it. "Who?" he asked. The answer was clear enough to leave no room for another question: "The High Council." The room fell into silence for a brief moment. Adrian gave one last look at the platform. He observed Elara for a few more seconds. Then he stepped back. "Continue," he said and left the room.
The room Adrian entered was darker and more formal. When the screen lit up, there was no clear face in front of him, only a silhouette. This was a place where power was independent of identity. "Report," said the voice in a commanding tone. Adrian slightly lowered his head. "We have reached a threshold," he said. After a brief silence, the commanding voice echoed again in the room: "Elaborate."
Adrian raised his eyes. "The energy is not stable, but it is not dispersing. It reacts, it learns, and it interacts with the system." The figure on the screen remained silent. "So?" Adrian’s voice was clearer this time. "This... could be the one mentioned in the prophecy."
The room froze for a moment. The figure on the screen asked, as if measuring the meaning of the statement, "Are you certain?". "No," said Adrian. "But this could be the beginning of something that cannot be controlled."
The figure on the screen leaned forward slightly. "If that’s true..." The sentence was left unfinished. But the meaning was clear. Adrian lowered his head. "I will bring it under control," he said. The screen went dark. Adrian stood still for a few seconds. Then he smiled slowly. This was no longer just a task. It was turning into a personal obsession.
On the forest side, silence carried a different meaning. Rowan was kneeling, examining the ground. The traces of Elara’s energy were still there. But these traces were no longer scattered. They were directional. "This trace... is conscious," Rowan said.
Kael stood a few meters away. His eyes were dark, but his mind was clear. "They took her," he said. Rowan lifted his head. "Who?" Kael’s jaw tightened. "The World Government.."
There was a brief silence. This silence was not born of uncertainty, but of a forming decision. Rowan stood up. "We will find her," he said. This was not a sentence of hope. It was a decision. Kael watched him for a few seconds. Then he slightly nodded his head. "We will," he said. This time, they were not alone. But whether they were on the same side was still unclear.
And Elara... She was no longer someone waiting to be saved. She was something that had begun to rewrite her own story.
