Chapter 157: Safety

After instructing some of the knights to tie up the Crescian general, Alexander hopped on midnight and rode after the fleeing Crescians. And as a fast rider as he was, he caught up with his Valorian counterparts who were already having a hard time keeping up with the Crescians. Several traps would be laid to deter them from the chase rendering some even dead.

Alexander almost got hit by a falling tree uprooted through magic but midnight was quick enough to have leapt forward before the tree hit his master. Alexander spotted the knight who had tried to kill him instantly narrowing his gaze at him. A fire ball materialized in his left hand, a smirk printed on his face before he sent it towards the fleeing knight. Screams and the fresh scent of burning flesh filled the air as both the Knight and his horse went up in flames. Only then did a satisfied look settle on his face. But the chase was far from over.

Alexander spotted Griffin on the lead, his gaze narrowing when he saw the Crescian camp appear a few meters ahead. Damn it! If Griffin made it to the camp alive, that meant the war would be far from over. But if Alexander killed him right now, that would instantly end the war.

And with that in mind, he urged midnight forward now moving in a speed that he himself felt afraid of. Since when did midnight turn this agile? But this was not the time to think about it. His flaming hands swayed on the side as he burnt anyone who tried to block his way. He was the only Valorian who had made it this far.

Griffin glanced behind, instantly awed by how fast Alexander was. He looked like the almighty self while flaming. But the most intriguing thing was his horse. It never got burnt for once despite the flaming rider on top of it. How was that even possible. The distance between them was already growing thinner with each passing second prompting Griffin to swallow in fear. He gazed forward, the camp proving to be his only salvation now. Almost all of his knights had been turned to ash.

"Shoot him!" He yelled at the archers who were standing guard on top of the gate. The archers got his signal and lined up with bows and quivers full of arrows. They all aimed at the flaming figure before they simultaneously released their arrows.

’Swish’ The sound of incoming arrows invaded Alexander’s senses. As instinct told him to halt but seeing how vicious midnight was, not willing to stop anytime soon, he gave up. But he had to come up with a quick plan or else...

Fire dragon! He had summoned one when fighting with Griffin! He didn’t know how but a dragon instantly materialized in front of him, soaring the sky before it spit fire at the incoming arrows instantly turning them into nothingness.

Anger boiled within himself when he saw Griffin alighting his horse and now dashing to the safety of the camp. A aqua like halo enveloped the whole camp and for once, midnight came to a halt. Alexander alighted as he approached the almost invisible force surrounding the camp. Curiosity drove him to stretch his hand and touch when a shockwave like force hit him instantly throwing him a few meters away. The dust settled on his flaming self.

Effortlessly standing up as if nothing had happened, Alexander walked closer to the barrier clenching his fists damn hard when he saw Griffin smiling back at him. That brat! He must have been one lucky bastard.

Behind him, the Crescian knights who had failed to make it to the camp in time were now fighting for their lives amongst the sea of Valorian knights. And though the Valorians were great in number, they couldn’t hold a candle against the Crescians. One Crescian knight would take ten Valorian knights by himself. Little did they know their lives were at bay now. Alexander had just turned around and found something to vent his anger on.

He unsheathed his sword that instantly got wrapped in flames, his gaze narrowing at the countable Crescians who were causing mayhem to his people. These didn’t require roasting, just a sword. 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂

His presence got recognized by the Crescians making them step back in fear. They had seen how vicious this Valorian prince could be, almost defeating their own king. And the aura he was leaking off currently was not one to smile at.

"Step back!" Alexander ordered his knights who involuntarily made way for him. The Crescian knights were now trapped in a clearing surrounded by the Valorians. Even if they defeated the prince, which was just but a dream, they would never get a chance to escape death! Sadly, their home was just a few meters away. Wouldn’t Griffin send reinforcements or something?

Alexander tightened the grip around his sword, his blazing eyes sizing the group of eight that were cornered together like cubs awaiting their death after their mother had abandoned them. He chuckled darkly at the thought. One thing he was certain of, Griffin would never send reinforcements.

Thoughts aside, his gaze sharpened at the group, his calculating look making them swallow in fear, fear that prompted them to attack aimlessly. A smirk formed on Alexander’s face, surprised that they made the first move. The first attacker was fast approaching, his reflexes quick that his movements could be termed as a blur. To a normal human, this was one dangerous guy, but to Aleattacker

The guy thrust forward, his sword aimed at Alexander’s chest. Alexander could tell he was a wind elemental mage majoring in swordsmanship. He could kill a human army in a blur.

But to everyone’s dismay, Alexander didn’t even bat an eye. He perfectly timed the guy’s attack, dodging effortlessly before he slashed the guy into two; head apart and body apart. The other looked at the fallen guy, the expressions on their faces easily readable.

"Thought he was the best!" Alexander said with a smirk. "Next please!"
