The Assassin's Redemption: A Princess's Journey to Forgiveness
Chapter 163: My Room My Rules
Isadora followed closely as her other self was being led to a room by two knights. This dream, if it was one, was relaying information to her that she couldn’t decipher. Why would she and Alexander be in this same dream yet her present self was still here, witnessing everything? Was it a past event? The knights left shortly after showing the princess into her room. Isadora, who had been like a ghost all the while, passed through the door without even opening it. But the sight that welcomed her shuttered her heart into a thousand pieces. The princess was crying! Taking a few steps closer to the woman who had buried her face in the pillow, quiet sobs escaping her lips, Isadora stretched her hand for a touch. It pained her to see herself being this weak. Unfortunately, her hand passed through just like any other time. Damn it! Why couldn’t she touch things or people in her own dream? Crestfallen, she couldn’t help but watch as her other version cried uncontrollably for hours, and before she knew it, it was already nighttime. Was time faster here or was it because she was in a dream? The door flew open and a maid walked in holding a tray of food which she placed on the table."Your food is here, Highness," she said."I’m not hungry!" Isadora said from the safety of her bed, adding a sleepy voice to wrap it up."His Highness instructed me to make sure that you finish your meal," she said, fear evident in her shaky voice. Who knew what the crazy prince would do to her if she failed in her job. Isadora could have understood the maid’s worry but not when she was battling with her own emotions as well. She couldn’t believe his father would be so cruel as to give her to this beast of a prince. If he could kill her people mercilessly, why not kill his people then. "No one touches what is mine!" She sneered at the words. If he thought she would easily accept to be his wife, then he was in for a big surprise. ’Don’t touch her unless she wants you to!’ At least her father had protected her from the monster but wait... Hadn’t he touched her when he kissed her knuckles. Violation of the agreement! Now she had an excuse to return home. But would her father believe her. He’d say it was one of her treacherous schemes to escape from Valoria. In the end, she gave up."Take this away. I’m not hungry," she lied. "But...""I said I’m not hungry. I don’t care if you die if I don’t eat but I’m not hungry!" She almost screamed."And who said she’ll die?" Came the annoying voice she so much hated. Her gaze shifted to his direction and there he was, looking fresh and regal as she could remember. With two brisk steps, he found himself inside the room, towering over her."You may leave us," he ordered the maid, but in a polite manner. She seemed conflicted but left anyways, literally running out of the room. His scent invaded her senses. He smelt so good, like cinnamon. What the hell am I thinking? She berated herself."After coming from a long journey, it is only natural that you’ll be hungry," he said. She felt the soft material sink beside her bed. Instinct kicked in and she found herself fleeing to the edge of her bed. He signalled nothing but danger!A wry smile curved on Alexander’s face. Did she fear him that much? Or maybe he was taking it too fast? "I’ll not touch you unless you want me to so why are you running a mile away from me? I’ll never harm even a strand of your hair." And talking of hair, his gaze shifted to her head. Her black hair looked as smooth as silk that he itched to run his fingers through it, but sadly he couldn’t. Patience! He ended up clenching his fists. It was only a matter of time. Still, she remained coiled at the far end of the bed. "Just leave me alone and I’m not hungry," she said."I hope you did notice that you are in my room," he said, a cunning smile forming on his face. Isadora’s face grew all shades of dark. She let her eyes scan her surrounding for the first time and judging from the outlook, it was indeed a royalty’s room; Alexander’s room! She was right into the devil’s lair! How could she have failed to notice it? And what did she expect? That she would be living in a guest room? She clearly had not considered this before. How the hell was she even going to survive? Having him around was suffocating her already, and now she would spend her entire life in this room, his room! Could she resist him forever like she had planned? The walls she had so hard tried to build were now one step closer to crumbling.Alexander found the whole scenario amusing. Did she think he could send her to a guest room or something? That would be taking her a mile away from his goal! He smirked seeing the confused expression on her face as she surveyed her surrounding. Maybe it was time to torture her some more."And my room my rules." The look on her face only acted to amuse him more."Rule one; there’s no fasting here. Three meals a day plus dessert, which is optional." He was laughing his ass off inwardly."Huh?" She asked, raising a brow. What kind of rule was that? It was more like forcing her to eat. "Yes," he curtly replied expecting objection from her but she said nothing. Instead, she surprised him with a bolder question!"What are the other rules then?"Alexander felt like laughing but he masked it with a smile instead. Did she know what he had in store for her? "Are you sure you want to know the other rules?""Yes," she replied, her answer firm and decisive. "If I’m going to live here, I ought to know all the rules."A smirk formed on his poker face. This was going to be more fun than he had thought.
