The Assassin's Redemption: A Princess's Journey to Forgiveness
Chapter 170: Boring Day!
"What a boring day," Isadora said as she lazily threw stones at the stream on the garden. She had found herself loving the garden more but it now felt empty, just like the void in her heart. She stood up smoothening her skirt. She had to think of something productive rather than wasting her day here. Her men! Goddamnit! How could she forget to check on them? Had they eaten already? A day had already passed and considering the fact that they were in a crazy Prince’s territory, she could only imagine for the worst. Who knew he had even slaughtered them overnight? Killing spree! Hell wait! Was her men his target for his so called killing spree. She would never forgive him if he even laid another finger on her men. The fact that she had dined with the devil himself alarmed her. She had let her guard down again! He was the devil’s incarnation and deceiving people was what he was good at. Maybe he had manipulated her! That’s the only reason she could come up with to convince herself as to why she’d dine with him.Panic kicked in as she raced through the hallways, her eyes searching for those familiar faces of her men. She kept reciting in her mind like a mantra that they were safe. Otherwise, she’d turn this palace into hell for him. He had killed the Butler mercilessly so why not her men? "Your Highness?" Someone called her halting her in her tracks. "Rasmus!" She exclaimed. "Thank God you are alive!" She added walking closer to meet with him. "Where are the rest?" "They are safe princess," the guy named Rasmus answered. He was the ponytailed guy. "Thank God!" She said holding her face. "Did they feed you already?" "Yes," he simply replied. "They are treating us well so far apart from snatching our weapons." "Really?" She still couldn’t believe it. A sigh escaped her lips. "What about you? Is the prince treating you right? Is he following the rule?" Rasmus asked. Isadora was a bit taken by that. Did he really want to know? Well, the prince had broken the rule a couple of times already."Yes he is," she chose to say that instead. "I’ll take my leave now since you are all fine. I’ll visit you some other time.""I can guard you princess," Rasmus said. The fact that the crazy prince was close to his liege didn’t settle well with him. He could only fear for the worst. "I’ll not allow him to touch a strand of your hair." ’As if he has not touched me already.’ Isadora rolled her eyes inwardly. "But you don’t have any weapons with you Rasmus," she stated."Don’t worry about that. I’ll protect you with my bare hands," he said displaying his muscles at her. Veins popped on his biceps adding to the words he said, and he meant it."But he’s strong Rasmus. You don’t know what he’s capable of. Of course you know. Why am I even telling you this. Just stay here with the rest, okay?" "But he’ll...""He’ll not harm me Rasmus. Stay here, and that’s an order," she added noticing he wanted to argue again. He was as stubborn as she could remember. She left him standing there not even giving him more room to argue. With her knights safe, she was relieved off the worry she had. But the day was still far from ending and she had not seen him yet. Having him at least elevated her mood and she never felt lonely. But wait! Was she missing him? Definitely not! She took a quick shower and laid on her bed, their bed, staring blankly on the ceiling. Why was this day proving to be longer than normal? It was because she was new here right? She would get used to it anyways. But this was not her life. She’d be enjoying a hunt with her knights now in Crescia and not some boring afternoon in bed.And where could he be currently? Did he go for another killing spree? He had called it his beast! How ridiculous! Did he mean he had a beast inside him, like a human and animal residing in one body? That was crazy! But what else could make him go Savage? What if it was true? And last night, he had tried so much to control himself, or was it the beast? How could a simple kiss ignite him that much. And he said it only happened to him once! Did that mean she was the only one that awakened his beast? And the kiss, it was not as she had expected. He was rough with her as if he she’d disappear anytime soon. Her hands flew to her lips, the image of that intimate scene crossing her mind. Lord! What was she even thinking? But no matter how hard she tried to push him at the back of her mind, the more unanswered questions lined in her mind, of which he would be the only one to answer. Would he even consider sparing her his breath? He had mistresses so why would he even think about her? While she was here thinking about him, maybe he was in some other place enjoying time with his mistresses. But why would she care anyways? Their marriage, if it was one, was one bound with unimaginable rules that would definitely set them apart forever, rules that he had broken thrice! But that didn’t cross her mind that moment.Bored by staring at the ceiling thinking about someone who she would never enjoy her life with, she grabbed a book to kill some time. But what turned out to be killing time turned into something else. God! The story was so sweet! She found herself turning pages not even noticing the entry of someone in the room. Time flew and before she knew it, she was reading the last page. A frown settled on her face when she noticed the cover after turning the final page."What a bad ending," she said puffing her cheeks. She gssped in surprise when she felt a chair move instantly craning her neck to the other side only to be greeted by that alluring smile if the person she least expected.
