Chapter 183: I’m Not Coming With You!

Silence reigned the entire battlefield for once, all eyes directed to the debris on the city wall. The dragon rose in the sky and let out a victorious roar that shook the Valorians. All the hope they had of winning the war crumbled to dust. "Is he dead?" Marcus asked from the comfy of his horse. They knew how stubborn the Prince was. He could even defy death! "I don’t think he could have survived hell flames," the witch leader voiced his opinion. "Then the city is ours! Kill the Valorians!" He said aloud sparking a war. In this war, a crestfallen group was fighting against an ambitious one. The Valorians began to retreat to the city as their numbers started decreasing gradually. But not until an earthquake happened! "What is happening?" Marcus asked. His horse, sensing danger, shook him off. He landed on the dusty ground on his stomach letting out a groan. But that was just a tip of the ice; more tidings awaited. Shading his eyes with the back of his hand, Marcus witnessed something he’d never forget his entire life, that is if he’d live. A godly like being ascended from the debris floating mid air with his whole body engulfed in flames yet he wasn’t getting consumed. He had to blink twice to confirm it was indeed true. A dangerous aura suddenly enveloped the whole place even making the dragons whine in fear. Not even the bravest and strongest of witches could hold a candle against him. He hovered higher in the sky looking like the devil’s incarnate until he came at par with the dragons. "That’s His Highness!" The Valorians exclaimed. Their psyche was rejuvenated giving them even more reason to attack relentlessly. The chase got reversed and it was the witches and Crescians fleeing for their lives now! "Where the hell do you think you are going?" Marcus called but all fled for their lives. No one cared if it was a king giving orders or not. Disappointed, Marcus nodded at the witch leader who signalled one of his men to step forward. His eyes were lightly purple, an indication that he was a leader of a coven, a strong one at that. Coven leaders could cast strong spells especially when they combined their powers. Each of them had a specific spell that they had perfected in which got shared to the coven members. He looked at the witch leader who nodded in acknowledgement. Mumbling some incoherent words that only the witches could decipher, a gust of wind suddenly formed in the battlefield taking with it a few Valorian knights. So strong was the wind that it even uprooted trees which knocked the poor knights to death. On seeing the Witches take lead in the war, the fleeing Crescians came back and started slaughtering the remaining Valorian knights. For some odd reason, it suddenly started raining! *****The sound of thunder clapping echoed in the room making Isadora swallow in fear. Was Alexander and his men fighting in the rain? And the dragons, what would he do about them? She had this gut feeling that the war would not end well. She needed to do something and sitting here was not an option. But he had told her to stay in the room at whatever cost. Argh! She hated him for once. She tried to take a nap and read a book to keep herself distracted but she couldn’t stop worrying about him. What if something bad happened to him? What if he got burnt by those dragons while she was just seated here doing nothing? She’d blame herself forever! She gave up! "Where are you going My Lady?" Gabriel asked upon noticing her exiting figure. But Isadora didn’t stop. Instead, she held the hem of her dress and ran across the hallway as fast as she could. "Damn it!" Vincent and Gabriel cursed before running after her but she was too fast for their pace. All she wanted was to lay her eyes on him and make sure he was safe. She couldn’t deny the ominous feeling of impending danger anymore. "My Lady? Stop please," Vincent called but all that fell on her deaf ears. She quickened her pace instead letting herself soak in the rain but that didn’t act to stop her either. And as if the rain read her emotions, a heavy downpour proceeded, the heavy raindrops hitting her skin that it almost hurt. But all her attention was focused on the gate. With all her might, she swung it open revealing a war like no other. Crescians mercilessly slaughtering the Valorians was the sight that welcomed her. Valoria was clearly losing here. But that was not who she was looking for. She held her dress and ran over the dead bodies, her gaze searching for those familiar blue eyes in the sea of people but her eyes landed on a person she least expected. There, seated on a majestic white horse in the midst of the rain was a figure she never thought would be behind all this. "Father?" She called him, the tone in her voice impalpable. All this time, she had thought it was the witches doing but this. Even Crescian knights were present in the field. "How could you do this?" She asked, her grip on the hem of her dress tightening. Surprised, Marcus turned to face his daughter with a wide smile planted on his face. "I came to save you Darling." He sounded proud. "Save?" Isadora asked with creased brows. She was speaking louder because of the heavy downpour. "Who said I needed saving and from who?" "What do you mean dear? Of course from that monster. I told you I couldn’t let you be with him. Come here Darling before you catch a cold," he added spreading his arms to receive her in his embrace. Isadora just stood there conflicted. But why would her father come to save her from a saving she never needed in the first place? Earlier, she’d have appreciated his efforts but it was different now! And to add salt to injury, he even called him a monster, her own husband! She lifted her gaze to meet with her father’s eyes before she shook her head."I’m not coming with you," she said, her voice firm and resolute.
