Chapter 198: Reconstruction Of Valoria

When Isadora finally woke up, the golden rays of the morning sun struck her eyes. She fluttered her long eyelashes open taking in the details of the place when she paused midway. Wait! This was her room! How did she reach here?

The last thing she could remember was feeling dizzy while on the horseback, and when she finally stepped on the ground, she swayed before succumbing to darkness. That meant Alexander had brought her, right?

Just as she was about to leave the bed, the door flew open revealing a smiling Roselyn and a maid who trailed behind. Isadora furrowed her brows, her gaze never leaving Roselyn’s until the woman sat next to her on the bed.

"I heard you were unconscious so I came to check on you," she said.

"I’m fine thank you," Isadora curtly replied.

"I guess it’d be advisable if you laid down a little longer... Alexander told me." She added due to the gaze she got.

Alexander said that? And why would he tell this woman? "I’m fine and I don’t need his advice."

"Can I keep you company at least?" Asked Roselyn.

Isadora looked at her curiously. She had applied oil on her burnt skin but it did less to hide the effects of the burn. And despite the bruise, one could see the radiant face beside her cunning smile. What did she want this time.

"I’ll be fine by myself. After all, I have work to do," she said, hoping she didn’t sound rude.

"I can come with you!" She exclaimed like a little child. Oh no! This wasn’t going the way she expected. Forcing her away would be rude given that she was a princess.

"If you insist." A smile lit on Roselyn’s face and out of the blue, she hugged Isadora who ended up stiffened.

After the awkward hug, Roselyn instructed the maid to leave saying her work was done. Isadora took a bath with a patient Roselyn burying her nose in one of the books in her room.

Roselyn didn’t know why she came to visit this woman. If not for Alexander, she wouldn’t have wasted her precious time with her. But she thought helping Isadora would make Alexander happy. Still, she didn’t know his feelings towards this woman. Back then when she was a princess in the disguise of a maid, he had fallen head over heels for her. And now that they were closer, she feared for the worst.

What if Alexander rejected her because of her face? He had every right to. She needed to fix this quick if she wanted to have her future husband by herself.

She forced a smile when Isadora stepped out of the bathroom clad in a blue royal dress that accentuated well with her curves. She closed the book and placed it on the table, a book she had read not a single word from.

"You look lovely,Your Majesty," she complimented. The dress matched perfectly with her gorgeous blue eyes that it made Roselyn feel jealous. Honest or not, Isadora was dressed to kill.

"Thank you." Isadora walked across the room and slipped her feet into a pair of blue shoes. She must be a lover of blue, Roselyn thought. "There. I’m all done."

"Shall we?" Roselyn led the way. The two women walked in the hallways with little to no interaction between them. To Isadora, this woman was just acting friendly while she was actually on a much bigger mission. She was no fool to trust her easily.

"If I may ask, where did Alexander go to?" She asked.

Roselyn rolled her eyes inwardly but answered anyway. "He’s leading the Valorians in building the capital."

To that, Isadora said nothing.

"He’s handsome, isn’t he?" Roselyn paused in her tracks and asked. Isadora halted too and looked her in the eye. The game this woman was trying to play, she was ten steps ahead already.

"If you say so," she replied, adding a faked smile before she resumed her walking. A conflicted Roselyn was left behind trying to decipher the meaning of the statement.

Nearly everyone in the Valorian palace had fled to Crescia. As queen, Isadora had to see what she would offer to a fallen Valoria in terms of resources and money. It came as a surprise to her when she learned it was indeed true construction had began in Valoria. How did Alexander get the money?

She conveyed a quick meeting with the Queen Victoria and King Henry in the royal chambers. Some council members involved in the treasury were invited too.

"The aim of this meeting is to see how we can help Valoria during this crisis. Crescia will offer men to aid in the construction."

"We’ll offer building materials from our mining fields," Henry offered.

"That’s so kind of you but we can pay for everything," said Victoria, casting a frown on everyone’s face.

"And where will you get the money from?" Asked a curious council member.

"The Valorians are very pessimistic about such happenings so we choose to keep our treasures and money in a safe place. That’s why my son has already began with the construction plans."

Everyone " ".

No kingdom had ever thought of such a thing. A smile lit Isadora’s face when she saw all the three rulers seated together. The Crescians, Valorians and Arcadians could sit peacefully, all thanks to Alexander. He deserved way much more.

"I don’t know what you think about this Your Majesties, but how about we make our three kingdoms an empire?" She asked. The council members began murmuring but Victoria and Henry remained stoic.

"It’s not as easy as you think, Your Majesty," Victoria said. "As Alexander’s mother, I’d gladly consent to that but King Henry might a different opinion." She turned to look at him.

"You’re right My Lady. I think I can agree to that, but under one condition." He paused to look at Isadora. "Only if he agrees to marry my daughter."
