Chapter 203: Fake Relationship

Roselyn was looking at her bruise in the mirror when the door flew open. Surprised, she turned to see a fuming Queen Victoria enter with a long face. Her usually smooth face was lined with a frown and with one look, she could tell someone was angry.

"What happened?" She asked placing the mirror on the bed. Rising from where she sat, she poured a glass of water for the ranging queen. "Here," she offered, but the look she got!

"I don’t need it," she rejected giving Roselyn a stern face.

With shrugged shoulders, Roselyn placed the glass on the table. "So what happened?"

"Unbelievable!" Victoria cursed under her breath. "I can’t believe that someone is stealing your husband while you are seated here."

"And by husband, you mean Alexander?" She asked only to annoy her more.

"Who else?" She flared.

Roselyn acted stoic. She of all the people knew there was nothing between her and Alexander. He had made it clear he was not interested in her, so why force herself on someone she didn’t love? If it was her princess self, she would have listened to what Victoria was saying. But things had changed, drastically at that. It was the high time everyone knew she was no longer the Roselyn they were used to.

"I can’t believe my son had the audacity to kiss that woman in front of me. How dare he?" Roselyn just stared at her apologetically as if Victoria was the one to go through the pain of being rejected.

So Alexander had kissed Isadora in front of his mother? That only meant he was proving to them whom he truly loved. The two deserved the best. She imagined them together and couldn’t help but smile. They were a couple made from heaven!

"What are you smiling at?" Victoria asked. She was telling her about her husband having another woman and she was smiling? She must be mad. "I’m talking to you!"

"Nothing actually," she replied.

"So you mean whatever I have said does not affect you in any way?" Her anger doubled.

"I don’t mean that, Your Majesty. What I mean is I am not the right person for Alexander."

Silence momentarily reigned the room with a guilty Roselyn avoiding Victoria’s gaze. If there was anyone who had worked hard for her ’fake’ relationship with Alexander, then it was Victoria.

"I’m sorry," she added, her eyes glued to the floor all the while.

"So all this time, all the energy I had invested to see you end up with my son will go down to waste?" She asked taking a step closer.

"I appreciate your efforts Your Majesty, but he’s not the man for me," Roselyn replied lifting her face to meet with Victoria’s eyes.

"Who is the man for you then?" She fired back. "Tell me, who is going to marry you, with that face?"

Roselyn, " ".

"Only Alexander could have given you that chance."

Reality hit Roselyn hard, yet somehow she knew it. It was no surprise to her for Victoria to state it, but her throwing mad on her face? She clearly hadn’t expected that. She caught her lower lip between her teeth, looking at her in the eyes.

"I might have been your puppet in the past but right now I’m doing what will make me happy, and your son is unfortunately not in my wishlist. Your Majesty," she added that to irk her.

And as dramatic as Victoria was, she smiled, a coy smile that defined her acting skills. "That sounds great! I can’t wait to see the man in your wishlist." She said, enthralled by the whole thing.

"If you’ll excuse me, I have some work to do," Roselyn said, and in one briesk step, she stood by the door gesturing Victoria to step out.

Never in her life had Victoria ever been this disgraced. She, a queen, was being treated like mud by this... what was she? Princess was not the right word.

Roselyn stood her ground on the door, putting on a brave face. She would stop at nothing to see those people who didn’t respect her decisions were completely out of her life. Burnt face or not, she deserved to be treated like a human.

Victoria reluctantly walked to the door staring daggers at her once daughter in law. She never knew someone could change overnight!

"You’ll regret treating me like this," she threatened, adding her staged smile on it.

Roselyn smiled at her in the same way but the look she got. Looks like the drama queen could not put up a dramatic face when confronted with the truth.

She sighed heavily when the dejected queen finally walked out with her pride swallowed. All her whole life, she had always been treated like a doll that everyone would play with and instruct however they pleased. And now that she had decided to be independent, everyone was turning against her. She leaned on the door heaving another sigh. And just as she was about to walk off, a knock sounded on the door.

"Mother!" She called after opening the door.

Felista walked in only to be hugged out of the blue by her daughter. Roselyn held her tightly wanting to stay in her mother’s embrace for eternity. All the tears and emotions she had been trying to hold back went loose, turning into sombs. How she missed this; to be comforted by her mother, for her to say everything would be alright. Unfortunately, it was not.

She let it out all in her mother’s embrace, letting the tears flow freely until she ran dry. Felista, who had been surprised by the sudden hug, couldn’t help but worry for her. She stroked her hair softly but Roselyn clung to her chest like a little baby, turning her robes damp. And as much as she wanted to ask questions, she let her cry first. Little did she know the few days she had been away from her daughter had turned out to be the worst in her life.
