The Best Actor Insists On Living With Me!
Chapter 1802 - 1792: Award-Winning Work (5)
After they finished speaking, Xia Siyu returned the topic to Sun Wujiu. After taking the topic, he just said one sentence: "Thank you."
Anyway, the point was made.
"Spring Light" won the Golden Lion Award for Best Film, not only did the audience watching the live broadcast go crazy, but it also quickly became a hot topic.
In recent years, in China, there have been some people who won Best Actor and Actress awards from the three major film awards. However, winning the highly prestigious Best Film award from these top awards is absolutely an indication of significant prowess.
Especially with both Bo Yan and Xia Siyu in it. Previously, the selections of the European Big Three were overly artistic; some were good works, but artistic films hardly achieved high box office in the domestic market. But with these two involved, as long as the films aren’t overly obscure and incomprehensible, the box office shouldn’t be too bad.
After the awards ceremony concluded and just upon exiting the venue, the crew was surrounded by a group of media. Unlike last time at Cannes where mainly domestic media surrounded Xia Siyu, this time not only were there domestic media, but some foreign media also blocked the crew.
Since it’s foreign media, naturally, the communication is in English. Xia Siyu and Bo Yan had no problem conversing smoothly, even translating for Sun Wujiu when he got confused by some questions directed at him.
When the interview concluded, though it was late, Bo Yan had already arranged for a boat to pick them up and leave, which actually helped to avoid being blocked by a crowd of random media.
But only Bo Yan and Xia Siyu were going back to the main city; Sun Wujiu and the other crew members stayed on Lido Island. As for the matters afterwards, Bo Yan and Xia Siyu needn’t care, they only had to focus on themselves.
After a journey over mountains and waters, they returned to the hotel room, marking the end of this day.
Closing the door, Xia Siyu couldn’t hide her joy. Unfortunately, Venice wasn’t China, so unless they sought out a specific bar, it was hard to find places that were lively at midnight.
However, while it was late night in Venice, in China it was early morning. At this time, the media coming for interviews and discussions were endless.
Luckily, Xia Siyu had already informed Wei Jingjing in advance to manage these. Not just tonight, she wasn’t accepting any events tomorrow either, because she had already arranged with Bo Yan to explore Venice with him.
Since the pandemic, both have been almost confined to the domestic scene; although there were leisure moments, due to both of their domestic fame, even fully disguised, there remained a risk of being accidentally recognized.
Xia Siyu disliked the feeling of being observed in private; even now, after starring as a superhero and winning the Golden Lion tonight, there was still a chance of being recognized in Venice. But relatively, it was more comfortable compared to home. Besides, although Venice’s charm is slightly different from Sicily’s, it’s still in Italy.
Even if they were immigrants here and her father couldn’t regularly accompany them, there was a lack of belonging. She accepted some Western thinking, but her genes were deeply rooted in Chinese civilization. Yet, Italy remained a place of her longing. It wasn’t the memory of her childhood she missed, but the years spent with her mother.
At times like this, she didn’t want to share it with anyone other than Bo Yan and she didn’t want to be disturbed.
Previously during the variety show filming in Sicily, due to the recording schedule, even though she wished to stay longer and explore, she couldn’t. Later, she had anticipated a visit only for the pandemic to disrupt all their plans.
But tomorrow, it completely belonged to them. No, starting now until the drive to the airport, it was all their time, as agreed with Bo Yan, no business, no matter the award results; everything would wait until they boarded the plane home.
"Do you think I have won or not?"
Yesterday, Xia Siyu made a wish, which Bo Yan pointed out, so although the wish was fulfilled, it was only partially realized.
Bo Yan laughed and said, "You’ve won, but not entirely."
Indeed, compared to personal awards, a grand prize like "Best Film" signifies a work that can be etched in history. It means the film will attract more viewers.
When you win an individual award, if someone isn’t a fan of this person, they might not watch. However, "Best Film" guarantees a high-quality movie, making it stand out among many.
Xia Siyu was still very proud, "The Jury President praised me! She said my performance was just one vote short! I’m really amazing. She even claimed without me in this film, it wouldn’t have been as exciting nor won the award."
This guy, she’s the typical person who ascends to the sky with a ladder. But Bo Yan didn’t rebuke her nor urge modesty; he nodded, "Yes, you are truly excellent."
After her boast, Xia Siyu quickly cooled herself down, "Too bad, if I had won, wouldn’t this award be more important than the three major Chinese ones? Had I won, at least my rivalry with Shang Feifei would be 1 to 2; I’d have a chance to overtake her."
Unfortunately, after the Golden Lion, there’s only a year’s countdown left until the final competition deadline. In one year, there are only three opportunities for the Chinese awards. She must win all three to triumph in the PK.
Or at least, she must win two while ensuring Shang Feifei doesn’t win the remaining one to barely even the score.
Despite this Golden Lion recognition, with the Jury President, a two-time Oscar-winning actress affirming her extraordinary performance, missing one vote meant missing one award, no individual accolade. Till now, she’s only achieved a Cannes Best Supporting Actress.
At this point, she herself felt the chance of winning the competition was minuscule. Even winning one in the next three evaluations would mean a loss.
Maybe, she just lacked a bit of luck.
"Not thinking about it anymore, sleep. Tomorrow I’ll strive to wake up early; I want to visit all of Venice!" Xia Siyu’s mood came and went swiftly; since she knew she would lose, there was no sense in brooding over it. She shook her head and headed to the bathroom.
Tonight was still a success; no need to be troubled by that one vote, so toast to it.
Bo Yan watched her emotions rise and fall, only to turn bright immediately. Sometimes he really admired her emotional management, forever an optimist. This person surely could excel in any career even if not an entertainer.
Watching her, even if it rained inside her mind, soon sunshine would appear.
Bo Yan hugged her from behind, whispered in her ear: "Let’s shower together."
With them showering together, it wouldn’t be just a simple bath.
