The Billionaire's Revenge Wife
Chapter 29: Meeting
"You told me about the offer he made you, and what did I say?" Mr. Wesley questioned, his fist clenching by his side. "I told you that Daemon Langford couldn’t be trusted. Do you really think he’s going to give us weapons without having an ulterior motive?"
Arianna took a breath before she responded. She feared if she didn’t take the situation under control, her father might actually pull out his gun and shoot Daemon at that spot, which was the last thing she needed at that moment.
"If Daemon wanted to hurt me, he would have done it a long time ago. He would have left me to die in the forest when Logan shot me." She paused, glancing up at Daemon who was waiting for her to continue. He stared down at her with the kind of expression that made it impossible to read what was going on in his mind. "And if he wanted to, he would have let the attacker Logan sent a few days ago to stab me. He even took the stab for me."
Cassian scoffed as if he’d just heard the lamest thing ever. "Don’t tell me you think he did that because he has feelings for you or anything?"
Arianna’s lips instantly set into a thin line.
Feelings? She didn’t think Daemon had feelings for her. They only met two months ago, back at the hospital. It was impossible to believe he loved her especially since he didn’t know anything about her.
Meanwhile, Daemon was silent.
What he felt for Arianna might be too far-fetched to say it was love he felt for her. But one thing was for sure, he would lay down his life for her if he needed to.
They’d already met a few years ago which she doesn’t remember anymore. That was the first time he laid eyes on her, and that was also when he claimed her even though she doesn’t know about it yet.
"He just wants to help us," she said. "Are we going to spend time discussing this when we can use the same time to plan how we can counter Sanchez’s attacks?"
However, her father wasn’t having it.
He walked towards Daemon, stood in front of him. Daemon towered over him with two inches so he had no choice but to look up at him.
"Call your father and get him here."
Daemon stared hard at the man. Getting his father to meet the Wesley family wouldn’t be a good thing especially since they were in a public restaurant.
If a gunshot rang out, the customers would panic and the cops would be called.
But Daemon didn’t resist.
If it was up to him, he wouldn’t involve himself in any of this, just keep Arianna by his side without either of their families being involved. But he understood where her father was coming from.
After his mother died, he was accused of killing her. A war broke out between the two families, leading to the death of several soldiers.
Mrs. Wesley had been kidnapped by his father because he wanted to return the favor. Thankfully, she was rescued on time.
He’d saved her before his father could do anything to the innocent woman.
Cassian and Josephine had been involved in several accidents in the past because his father was determined to make Mr. Wesley loses a loved one just the same as he’d lost one.
Against his will, he found himself understanding where he was coming from.
He excused himself to make the phone call.
A few hours later...
Daemon opened the door for Arianna which earned him a pointed look from her before she stepped out of the car.
For safety reasons, both families won’t be meeting at the restaurant anymore.
They were standing in one of the hotels owned by the Langford family.
Mr. Wesley was hesitant because he was stepping right into the Langford territory. If something happened, they might not be able to leave.
Thankfully, he’d brought some of his men when coming to Las Vegas.
They were all built like soldiers, armed with weapons in case they needed it.
Daemon led them to a private elevator that took them to the top floor.
Arianna glanced around the floor. She didn’t see a single soul around. Unlike the ground floor, not a single employee could be seen working.
She gulped down her saliva hard, hoping things will turn out well and there will be no bloodshed.
Daemon led them to an office where his father was already waiting with several other people.
Frederick was already there with their sister, Nicole, who gave Arianna a once over, her face filled with disgust before she shared the look amongst her family members.
Some of the Langford soldiers were already on standby, weapons already equipped on them, their fingers just an inch away from pulling the trigger.
As soon as Mr. Wesley and Mr. Langford both made eye contact, the temperature dropped.
Mr. Wesley didn’t sit yet, so all his children stood with him while he shared eye contact with the man before him.
"Luca," Mr. Wesley called.
"Jeremy," Mr. Langford responded, his expression stoic. "Your daughter successfully seduced my son and now he’s married to her."
Mr. Wesley’s teeth gnashed.
"I didn’t take Daemon to be that easy to seduce if you ask me," he continued. "But then again, she’s your daughter. She must have so many tricks up her sleeve."
Mr. Wesley parted his lips to defend Arianna, but Daemon beat him to it.
"Mind the way you speak to Arianna, father." His tone was low and cold. He didn’t care he was speaking to his father at all, not a single ounce of fear marring his words. "She may be the daughter of your enemy, but she’s my wife and I won’t tolerate any kind of disrespect directed at all, even if it’s coming from you."
Nicole glared at Daemon while Frederick revealed a grin.
’This is going to be fun,’ he thought.
Mr. Langford glared at his son, his rage flashing on his face for a second before he masked it.
He tore his gaze Daemon and stared at Mr. Wesley.
"You may take a search, Jeremy. We don’t have all day."
Mr. Wesley took a second before he obliged and sat down cautiously, both his men and Mr. Langford’s men gave each other a stare down as they held their weapons tightly in their hands in case it was going to be used soon.
"I think what I’m about to say is something that we both want," said Mr. Wesley. "Daemon and Arianna can not stay married. They must get a divorce and put an end to this shenanigan."
Arianna stared at her father. She wasn’t surprised by his words at all. It was part of her predicament regarding his reaction to him finding out about her decision.
However, putting an end to the marriage meant one thing—Daemon will no longer supply the weapons that her father will need which will be at their disadvantage.
"I agree," Mr. Langford responded, darting his gaze at Daemon. "I don’t know what he must have been thinking but this needs to end."
Daemon merely smirked.
He was willing to give them the chance to speak, run their mouths about what needed to be done, he had the final say after all.
But one thing was for sure—he wasn’t going to divorce Arianna.
After years of constructing a plan to make her be with him, he wasn’t going to throw all that effort down the drain because their families objected to their union.
"Do you hear that, Daemon?" His father called, looking at him. "You’re going to be divorcing this woman."
Daemon still didn’t say anything.
"I bet she seduced him by spreading her legs wide on his bed. I’m not surprised at all. The apple doesn’t really fall far from the tree," Nicole commented, glaring at the Wesley family members.
"Say one more word and I’ll have you chewing on the bullets from my gun," Josephine threatened, finally speaking for the first time since they entered.
She mirrored Nicole’s expression, her hand clutching on her pistol she had tucked on the side of her pants, letting the latter know she wasn’t joking.
The Langford’s soldiers immediately pointed their weapons at Josephine, fingers inching closer to the trigger but she was completely unfazed by them, her gaze never leaving Nicole.
"Calm down now," Mr. Langford said. "We’re only here to have a word, not to shed some blood." Then he turned to Daemon. "Ask your lawyer to file the divorce papers so that you can sign them immediately." He huffed, rubbing his temples in frustration. "I really don’t know what made you think you could get married to a Wesley of all people. The very same ones that killed your mother."
Arianna glanced between Daemon and his father. If he agreed for a divorce, then it was completely over. There was no other way she could help her father.
"I understand where you’re coming from father," Daemon started, staring right into the old man’s eyes. "But I’m not divorcing Arianna."
