- Oh, what is it? Did I notice the relief in your eyes? - Amanda raised her eyebrows in surprise, catching the insignificant mimicry of the witch as soon as the breath left her friend’s body. – Or was it my imagination?

Amanda couldn’t hide a gentle chuckle, but then her gaze hardened again, cooling all the fun with a wave of the magic wand again directed at her.

Taking a deep breath, the witch made the last preparations, swallowed the disgusting, nauseating dried meat, shutting her eyes tightly and grimacing from it, before shouting an attacking spell at the top of her lungs with all her might, throwing it at the vampire. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦

With one movement of her foot, she threw the protective crystal aside and the circle around her broke, pushing them into an open duel.

Amanda attacked with lightning speed, unable to use her hands, she rammed the girl with her feet, threw her aside, inflicted severe damage on her, but it was still not enough, because the witch began to fight really desperately, and her strength seemed to have increased a hundredfold.

A foul smell of rotting flesh emanated from her mouth, which distracted Amanda, but what puzzled the vampire even more was the appearance of a strange viscous liquid at her feet, which bubbled and spread, slowly but surely.

It was something she had never seen before and it looked eerily strange, frightening and dangerous. For some reason, the thought immediately flashed through her mind that it was not worth stepping into this muck.

Ice spikes dug into the center of the vampire’s stomach, which jumped out of nowhere, covering Amanda as soon as she was distracted by the strange bubbling liquid.

He groaned and crouched on the ground, spewing streams of blood from his mouth, choking on it, and feel that his internal organs are riddled and as if they are burning from the inside. The next moment, Amanda and the witch came face to face.

Amanda attacked her with a knee to the stomach, but instead received an electric shock that passed through her entire body. This made her shudder in convulsive twitching, her eyes sunk in exposing the whites of her eyes, her teeth merged into a single whole from the excessive onslaught of her jaws, and her fangs scratched her own gums, flooding her mouth with blood.

All her muscles contracted, breathing problems and cramps began, but she still remained conscious to realize that this could be the end for her.

- Get off her. - a loud roar yanked Amanda out of her state, allowing her to fall backwards on her back when she lost contact with the witch and Dexter cut off the witch’s head with a single movement of his hand.

Before the vampire’s eyes, it darkened and the picture became blurred as she swallowed air profusely with her mouth, lying on the damp ground and completely not feeling her own hands and feet.

- Fuck. - a panicked cry immediately brought her to her senses. – Mandy.

She blinked several times and felt warm tears flow down her cold cheeks.

Amanda couldn’t believe that she would hear that voice again, couldn’t believe herself how happy she was at that moment, but she couldn’t even utter a word, because at the same moment her body was pulled aside like an unnecessary rag.

- Don’t move, please... just don’t move your legs. - Dexter pleaded, trying not to scare her more than necessary.

A black viscous liquid wrapped around the princess’s ankle and it looked hopeless, judging by how confused Dexter looked at the moment.

- What should I do, Dex? What to do? Take this thing off me. - she mumbled indistinctly but insistently through her tears.

- It’s a golem, Mandy. I do not know how to remove it. More precisely, it is simply impossible. - he lowered his head, sitting next to her on his knees and holding her shoulders tightly, literally clinging to them with a death grip.

- Then just cut off that fucking leg, Dexter. - she screamed at the top of her voice. – I would have done it myself, but...

She had to stop when he stuck a rolled-up handkerchief into her mouth and she squeezed it, closing her eyes tightly. He took the belt from his trousers and tied it tightly above the place that the golem had already swallowed.

- Mendy, do you remember what Raphael said when he left Abion? - Dexter’s quiet, calm voice made Amanda frown, bringing back memories of that day in her head. Was there anything important why he suddenly asked this question?

She shook her head and the next moment, the razor-sharp claws on Dexter’s hand merged into one cutter and he swung a confident hand without hesitation, cutting off Amanda’s foot, bleeding her shoes profusely.

She screamed shrilly, heartbreakingly, dropping a drooling handkerchief from her mouth and her chest squeezed until it was impossible to take a breath, after which she instantly lost consciousness.

- You’re such a fool. Why did you come here without me? Why didn’t you say anything? - Dexter whispered in her ear through clenched teeth, who pulled her body further away from the place where the golem grew.

He was heartbroken, he wanted to cut off his hands for the fact that it was with these hands that he had to deprive the princess of part of her leg. And even Raphael’s anger did not frighten him, he cursed himself that he could not come a little earlier. If only she had appeared earlier, all this could have been avoided, but he noticed the absence of the princess in the castle too late.

He was rushing to the border with all his might, he knew the supposed place of Milos and his men’s sortie, but it was all like pointing a finger at the sky and he lost even more time to determine their exact location.

But what he saw shocked him. There is blood everywhere, internal organs, severed heads, limbs, and in the center of all this action she is the one for whom he was ready to sacrifice his own life, but he did not have time.

The golem also did not add positive moments to their meeting, because he had no idea how to destroy it. These were such rare creatures that he had never had to meet before, despite being aware of them.

- Dexter. - Milos said, breathing heavily, limping and holding onto his side, from which blood was streaming, soaking through numerous layers of clothing.

Apart from this injury, it was difficult to find a small area of intact skin on him and he looked too exhausted.

Milos fell silent as soon as he saw the state of the princess and the primordial fear shackled his face.

He refused to believe what his eyes saw. He could already imagine what the king would do to them all when he first found out about what had happened. He was the main culprit in this, it was he who could not stop the princess’s desire to join his squad and it was he who could not protect her.

Rather, when he noticed a werewolf in a group of witches, he considered that he posed the greatest danger to everyone, so he distracted him by taking him deep into the forest and taking his attack on himself.
