Chapter 401: 401: Beast Pouch

After paying for the beasts he planned on using for the Eternal Mind Zoo, he asked the various shops he bought them from to deliver them to his dorm room.

He had thought long and hard about where he should practice his mental techniques, and at the end of the day, he decided to do it in his room.

And his main reason for doing this was simple... Money.

He had no idea how long he’d spend if he rented a cultivation room or another specialized room that charged based on time spent in a room.

He had to start reducing his expenditure, so he decided to have the beasts delivered to his room.

He could have bought a storage item that could store beasts for a limited time, but the beast storage item cost nearly ten thousand merits, so he had to give up on it.

He obviously could not take all the beasts with him to his room, so he had to pay about twenty (20) merits to have the beasts delivered to his room.

He could have told Akaza to bring it to his room, but it would be too conspicuous, so he decided not to.

He needed to wait for about thirty minutes before the beasts were brought to his room, so he left the academy and decided to start going through the techniques of the Mad Scientist before they arrived.

When it came to the two techniques of the Mad Scientist, the reason he decided to focus on the Eternal Mind Zoo first is that he believed that it would serve him better than the Eternal Mind Maze.

Inside his room, he took his time as he read the book of the Eternal Mind Zoo.

He already knew many of the most important aspects of the technique, but there were some little things he missed and ignored when he was reading it in the library.

And funny enough, one of them was a note of the Mad Scientist stating that the weaker the Will of a beast, the weaker its attack and defense.

As he read the book, he got to the page that had the diagram of the formation that would enslave the Will of the demonic beast.

He was about to start learning and memorizing the formation, but a knock on his door suddenly disrupted his reading.

He used Shadow Sense to perceive how many people were outside his room, and he sensed that it was just one demon. He also sensed the shadow of a leather pouch hanging from the demon’s waist, he knew that his package had arrived.

He opened the door, had a brief conversation with the demon delivering his package, then he gestured for the demon to enter his room.

The demon then grabbed the pouch, sent his demonic energy inside it, and a formation glowed on its surface.

Objects began flying out of the pouch one after the other, and in the next moment, loud thuds began to resound in his room.

Simon looked at the source of the thuds, and he saw three cages in his room.

One contained the gnawers.

Another contained the demon dog.

And the last contained the abyssal grass cutter.

The demon closed the pouch, and after having a very brief conversation with Simon, he left.

Simon watched him leave, and his eyes could not help but move to the leather pouch that was hanging from the waist of the demon.

The leather pouch was a beast storage item called a beast pouch, and it could only store beasts for a maximum of three hours.

There were other beast storage items, and some could even store beasts for days and even months, but this was a low grade beast storage item, so its storage time was very low.

When Simon ordered for his beasts to be delivered to him, he told them to use the cheapest beast storage item they had to deliver the beasts so that it would not be known to everybody, especially the factions, that he was purchasing beasts.

This was the reason why he had to pay twenty merits for the delivery fee.

’In my time, there was nothing like a beast storage item on Earth. When it comes to runes, formation, magic, and certain other things, demons are more advanced than humans since it’s something they’re used to.’

He shook his head and decided to shift his attention to the beasts.

He had been ignoring them, but now that he was focusing on them, he could hear the squeaking of the gnawers, the growling of the demon dog, and the uncomfortable scraping of the mantis’ sharp forelegs on its cage.

Now that he was focusing on them, he found the sounds to be annoying.

He frowned, then he released a sliver of his killing intent toward the beasts.

The demonic beasts immediately went silent, and his room became peaceful and quiet once again.

"Don’t make a single sound." He said coldly, and the rats squeaked as they moved further away from Simon in fear.

The dog whimpered in fear, and it also distanced itself from Simon in its cage.

Only the mantis did not move back in fear, but its large red eyes were constantly on Simon.

Simon nodded when he saw how quiet it was, then he went back to his reading.

He continued reading and memorizing the enslavement formation of the Eternal Mind Zoo, and Simon was a little bit surprised when it took him over two hours to learn and completely memorize this formation.

His knowledge on chaos runes was still poor, so all he could do was perfectly copy and paste the formation diagram in his head and and draw it perfectly on his own. However, the formation made him realize that he would need to increase his knowledge on chaos runes.

After reading the book of Eternal Mind Zoo, he read the book containing the Mind Spear technique since he would need it.

The Mind Spear was much easier for him to understand, and after going through everything in the book more than once and ensuring that he was not missing a thing, he closed it and released a soft sigh.

’I’m done with these two books. Let’s hope it works.’

He stood, then he approached the cage containing the gnawers.

He picked one of the rats by its neck, and though it squeaked and tried biting his hand, it ultimately failed once Simon coated his hand in his demonic energy.

With an indifferent gaze, he looked straight into the eyes of the gnawer, making sure that the last thing the gnawer saw was his face.

Then a second later, he snapped its neck.

Snap!
