The Broken Halo
Chapter 443: Two Million
There was a deep silence in the shop after Caesar’s threatening words.
If it was another Initiate, whether a second year or a third year, he would never take them seriously.
Every single Initiate- talented or not talented- were all kids in his eyes.
How would he take the threat of a child seriously?
The only kids he took seriously to a certain degree were Jorra and Merath, and that’s because they were Daemons who had the backing of the hidden organization called The Abyss.
But as he looked at Caesar, there was something about this demon that made him to take his words seriously.
He was not just speaking arrogantly.
The world seemed to respond to his words, and if he had a weak mind, he had a feeling that he would see an image of Caesar standing on a mountain of corpses.
’He has a very sturdy and powerful Will. His threats are not mere threats.’
Simon was now more intrigued by Caesar, but was he afraid?
Obviously not.
He would only take Caesar a little bit more seriously.
"I’ll be taking my leave then."
He turned around to leave, not bothering to give a response to Caesar’s words.
Was he worried about the fact that Caesar seemed to possess more power than he expected?
Not really.
It was just a minor bump to his plans.
Just like he said earlier, the three factions of Caesar were not the strongest in the academy.
Maybe some of the factions he was interested in joining had doubts over the risk of making him one of their members.
And he understood.
If they asked him to join their faction, they would be at odds with Caesar, and from what he had seen and experienced, Caesar’s authority in the academy was not little.
Another reason is that he was a slave of the clan.
If he joined a faction, the faction would face some sanctions and other problems.
Basically, these factions might be wondering if he was worth the risk.
And if that was the case, Simon believed that he would just have to be more proactive and make some changes to his plans.
His eyes flashed with a cold and calculating glint as he approached the door.
However, Caesar suddenly spoke.
"Are we not going to talk about my sword that’s in your possession?"
Simon stopped, then he turned and faced Caesar with a slight tilt of his head.
"What is there to talk about?"
Caesar tapped the armrest of his chair, his eyes narrowing slightly.
"You’re not going to be able to sell it in market square. However, because you intrigue me, I’ll buy it from you."
Simon raised a brow.
"How much?" He asked with a suspicious tone.
"Twenty thousand (20,000) merits."
Simon scoffed immediately, then he turned and walked to the door without saying a word.
Twenty thousand merits?
As if.
Even if it was a low sovereign artifact, it should cost at least fifty thousand (50,000) merits.
Twenty thousand merits was just straight up robbery.
He nearly killed himself because of a life and death duel Caesar created, and the one reward he got was the sword.
However, Caesar wanted to take back this reward from him and give him pennies in return.
"Are you sure it’s wise for you to leave? I might not be offering the actual price, but twenty thousand merits is not easy to come by."
Simon scoffed.
"For nearly losing my life? It’s a pathetic price."
Caesar said nothing, and he only watched Simon leave.
A few seconds later, his lips curled into a smile.
"I’m curious to see how you’ll sell that sword, Broken Halo."
Unfortunately for Caesar, but fortunately for Simon, there was a certain rich demoness called Sunless.
And this rich demoness was standing before Simon.
"So, let me get this straight. You want me to buy a sovereign ranked sword, even when I don’t use a sword?"
Outside market square, Sunless stood against the railing of a bridge with her arms crossed.
In front of her was Simon, and in his hand was Blackblade’s arm holding the sovereign ranked sword.
"Yes. You’re right. You’re rich aren’t you?" Simon replied with a calm and indifferent tone as he looked at Sunless.
Sunless shifted her gaze to the sword, and there was silence between them for a moment.
Although Simon was calm, the honest truth was that Sunless was his last hope of selling the sword and not getting reaped off by a huge amount.
If Sunless decided not to buy it, then he would just have to give it to Akaza to try his luck and find a buyer.
Though he had no idea how rich Sunless was, he had a feeling that fifty thousand merits should not be too much for her.
After nearly ten seconds, Sunless spoke.
"Do you know that you’re owing me for two things? My last food and me finding out with my momey that Blackblade has a master."
Simon’s lips twitched.
"And now, you want me to buy a sword that is of no use to me? When you know that I’m an archer?"
Simon’s lips twitched again, but he had nothing to say.
He was just trying his luck, and he was also banking on the fact that she would help him because of the feelings and affection she had for him.
Just as he was about to return the sword back into his spatial ring, Sunless spoke.
"Well, I don’t mind buying it since I just made two million merits because of you."
Simon froze.
"What?"
Sunless chuckled softly.
"I bet twenty thousand merits on you for your life and death duel, and because the odds were heavily against you, I won two million merits."
Simon blinked, and if his face could be seen, one would see the utter disbelief he had.
Sunless could imagine Simon’s expression, and she could not help but chuckle again.
"So, thank you Broken Halo. I’m two million richer."
