Chapter 193: But this place is a hospital

The ultrasound machine hummed softly moments later. Doctor Ade focused carefully on the screen. Then her expression relaxed a little. "The babies are fine."

Amara opened her eyes immediately. "Both?" she whispered weakly. Doctor Ade nodded. "Yes. Both babies are okay." The relief that hit Amara was so strong that tears instantly gathered in her eyes.

For the first time since the pain started, she could breathe properly again. Doctor Ade continued the examination carefully while nurses monitored everything around them.

"Doctor... " Amara asked quietly after a moment, fear still lingering in her voice. "Are you sure everything is alright?" Doctor Ade hesitated briefly. "Well..." she said honestly, "for now, yes."

That answer didn’t fully comfort Amara. "There are a few concerns," Doctor Ade admitted gently. "But nothing we can’t manage if you rest and avoid stress." She gave her a pointed look at the last word.

Amara almost laughed bitterly at that. Avoid stress? Her entire life had become stressful. Doctor Ade sighed softly while removing her gloves.

"Your blood pressure keeps rising, and with your current condition, that’s dangerous for both you and the babies." She nodded toward the nurse. "Give her something mild to help her sleep."

The nurse prepared the medication while Amara stared blankly toward the ceiling. Everything felt too heavy now. Seren being alive. Seb. The DNA test. The media. The memories. It was all crushing her at once.

Within minutes, the medication slowly started calming her body. Her eyelids became heavier. The pain eased slightly. Julian was finally allowed back into the room just as Amara was beginning to drift. The moment he entered, his shoulders visibly relaxed after seeing her stable.

He immediately moved beside the bed and grabbed her hand again. Amara weakly squeezed his fingers.

"I’m okay," she whispered sleepily. Julian leaned down and kissed her forehead carefully. "You scared me." Outside the room, more security personnel had already arrived after Julian’s earlier calls. The entire hallway was now heavily guarded.

But Julian still didn’t feel safe. Not here. Not in Seb’s territory. Not when Seb clearly had influence over almost everything connected to this hospital.

Julian turned toward Doctor Ade quietly once Amara finally drifted asleep. "Thank you, Doctor." Doctor Ade nodded tiredly. Julian lowered his voice. "Can I move her?"

Doctor Ade frowned slightly. "Move her?"

"We have another doctor handling her pregnancy," Julian explained quickly. "He knows her medical history well. I’d feel more comfortable transferring her there." In truth, Julian wanted Amara far away from Seb.

Far away from this hospital. Far away from anything Seb could touch. Because even after calling in an entire team of security and guards... He still knew one thing. If Seb truly wanted something. There were very few people powerful enough to stop him.

Doctor Ade removed her glasses slowly after reviewing the monitor results again. "I’m sorry," she said calmly, looking directly at Julian, "but I would not advise moving her right now."

Julian’s jaw tightened immediately. Doctor Ade continued before he could argue. "There was also slight bleeding." Her voice became more serious. "It has stopped for now, but I need to run more tests to determine whether it’s stress-related or something we need to worry about."

Julian glanced toward Amara, sleeping weakly on the bed. The sight alone made his chest tighten painfully. "She needs stability right now," Doctor Ade added. "Not movement."

Julian rubbed a hand over his face tiredly. "It’s not that I doubt your experience, Doctor," he said carefully. But Doctor Ade’s expression had already cooled slightly.

"I’m very familiar with Ms. Piers’ medical history," she replied professionally. "She has been my patient for many years."

The meaning behind the words was clear. She felt insulted. Not openly. But enough. Julian noticed it immediately. And honestly, he couldn’t blame her. He exhaled quietly before nodding. "Understood."

For now, he had no choice. He would have to wait until they got the green light to move Amara safely. Doctor Ade gave one last look toward Amara before stepping outside the room.

The moment the doors opened, she stopped. Her eyes widened slightly.

The entire hallway had transformed into something that looked closer to a military operation than a hospital floor. Men in black suits lined both ends of the corridor. Security everywhere. Earpieces.

Weapons hidden beneath jackets. Even nurses walking through the hallway looked nervous now. Seb stood near the far wall with his arms crossed, already irritated by the growing circus around him.

Doctor Ade frowned deeply. "What is this?" she asked sharply. "This is a hospital." At that moment, Julian stepped out behind her. He looked at the security team surrounding the floor.

Then frowned too. Apparently, even this wasn’t enough for him. Without hesitation, he pulled out his phone again.

"Add more men to the east wing," he ordered coldly into the phone. "Double security near every entrance." Even Seb turned his head slowly at that. Julian ended the call before finally looking back at Doctor Ade.

"My wife is very important to me, you see," he said calmly. The words were simple. But the weight behind them was heavy enough to silence the hallway.

"Since we’re forced to remain here," Julian continued, "please bear with us." His eyes briefly shifted toward Seb before returning to the doctor. "Her safety comes first."

Doctor Ade studied him quietly for a moment. The fear in Julian’s eyes was real. Not afraid for himself. Fear of losing Amara. Again.

Seb looked away with visible irritation, his jaw tightening slightly at the way Julian kept calling Amara his wife so naturally. But Julian didn’t care. Not anymore.

At this point, he would bring an entire army into the hospital if that was what it took to protect her. "But this place is a hospital," Doctor Ade said patiently, though exhaustion was already creeping into her voice. "She is safe here."

Julian looked at her quietly for a moment. Then his expression hardened.

"And yet she was kidnapped from this same hospital three years ago," he said coldly. "And because of that... she lost her baby."
