The CEO's Wife Is a Medical Master
Chapter 302: His Love Letter
Aaron Cheney agreed at once. "You can count on me, Vera. I’ll get the task done!"
Vera Xavier chuckled. Aaron Cheney then pulled an envelope from his pocket, handed it to her, and said, "This is a task Nathaniel gave me."
Vera Xavier froze for a moment. She took the letter and glanced at the cover. Written on it in a strong, forceful script were two words: "Love Letter."
Vera Xavier was mortified. ’What on earth is he thinking? If he wanted to write me a love letter, he could have just written one. Did he really need to label it as such right on the envelope?’
She was truly in awe of Nathaniel Nathan’s bizarre logic!
She quickly took the letter and stuffed it into her bag, trying her best to maintain a calm expression in front of Aaron Cheney. She cleared her throat and said, "Alright, I’ve got it. You can head back now."
Seeing the blush spread across her face despite her composed expression, Aaron Cheney had to suppress a laugh. ’I’ll have to tell Nathaniel about this next time we talk,’ he decided.
If Vera Xavier had known what Aaron Cheney was planning, she probably would have slapped him.
After Aaron Cheney left, Vera Xavier went back to her room and locked the door. Only then did she take Nathaniel Nathan’s letter out of her bag and unfold it.
Upon opening the letter, the first thing Vera saw was Nathaniel’s elegant handwriting. She started to read from the top, but the very first sentence made her cringe: ’My dearest Vera, may this letter find you well, as if I were there in person...’
’Did... did he really have to use such an old-fashioned opening? ...Alright, she had to admit, she actually loved it!’
As someone who had been reborn, Vera knew that by the time she had died in her past life, physical letters had already become precious rarities. Most communication happened through phone calls, messaging apps, and video chats. This slower, more deliberate method of writing a letter was actually far more touching.
After all, making a call, sending a text, or starting a video chat only took a few taps of a finger. But for Nathaniel to write a letter like this must have taken him at least half an hour.
The last time she’d received a love letter from another man, it had been awkward because Nathaniel was right there. To diffuse the situation, she had pulled him over to read it with her and complained about how poorly written it was.
She never imagined he would actually take her words to heart and write her a love letter of his own!
Vera continued to read: "To be parted from you is the greatest sorrow in life. However, I know that every parting is merely the prelude to our next reunion, and so I do not grieve. I only wish to complete my mission swiftly and return to your side. There is no need to list my feelings for you one by one in this letter. I long for my return, when we may be entwined upon our bed, whispering in the dead of night. I adore your gentle affections most of all..."
Vera Xavier shivered. Nathaniel’s letter was just...
She took a deep breath. ’Is it really okay to be this lewd in a letter?’
Her face flushed red, but she couldn’t stop herself from reading on: "I once promised to write you a love letter. I have thought long and hard on this, and in truth, I do not know what a ’love letter’ is. Examining those of the past and present, they mostly seem to be decadent displays of saccharine sentiment, much ado about nothing. In my opinion, why should such passions be confined to a letter? When we meet, we can express them to their fullest. Let us cherish the time we have together, with sweetness and love by day, and by night, lying in bed like a pair of mandarin ducks, necks entwined..."
Vera was utterly floored by his reasoning. ’Did he just use a letter to hit on me?’
"Since I am unwilling to speak of such cloying sentiments, I shall simply offer you my whole heart and wait. I only lament that you are exceedingly dense and often fail to comprehend my true intentions. Before writing this, I had intended to use this letter to chastise you for your foolish inability to appreciate romance. However, my heart belongs entirely to you. Thus, no matter how foolish or dense you may be, you are still my heart’s most precious treasure."
