Patricia Thompson was already screaming at the top of her lungs, "You unfilial brat! You see me and don’t even call me Grandma, and now you dare to make sarcastic remarks? Jason, go teach her a good lesson! Show her what happens when you’re disrespectful to your elders!"

Jason Langdon was a little scared seeing the knife in Vera Xavier’s hand, but he was a pig butcher by trade. A tool like a knife was an ordinary sight for him, and Vera Xavier just looked so delicate.

So, he simply raised his fan-sized palm and swung it at Vera Xavier’s face. Vera Xavier’s eyes narrowed slightly, showing not a hint of fear. She raised the watermelon knife in her hand and slashed at Jason Langdon’s hand.

Jason Langdon had assumed she was just using the knife to scare them. After all, what teenage girl would actually dare to attack someone with it?

But he quickly discovered he was wrong. The young girl before him was completely different from the norm. The arc of her rising knife showed no hesitation, let alone fear. He could even see an undisguised killing intent in her eyes.

Jason Langdon butchered pigs for a living, so his instincts for this sort of thing were sharper than most. Her gaze made it perfectly clear: if he dared to hit her, she would dare to chop off his hand!

Astonishment filled Jason Langdon’s eyes. Ultimately, he didn’t dare risk his hand to see if Vera Xavier would actually go through with it!

He snatched his hand back at the last moment. The watermelon knife’s blade sliced past his fingertips, shaving off a layer of skin, before slamming down hard on the watermelon on the table. It split the large fruit in two, sending juice spraying everywhere!

Terror instantly filled Jason Langdon’s eyes, and he instinctively took a step back.

Vera Xavier, meanwhile, asked him with perfect composure, "Want some melon?"

Jason Langdon glanced at his fingertips, where a layer of skin had been shaved off, and took another step back.

Patricia Thompson started screaming again, "You vicious girl! How dare you attack your own uncle with a knife!" 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦

Vera Xavier said coolly, "My mom gave birth to me, so I call her Mom. As for the rest of you? We’ve hardly ever met. What do you have to do with me?"

Patricia Thompson was left speechless by her comeback. She plopped right down on the floor and started wailing, "You damn monster! You tried to attack your own uncle with a knife, and now you’re cursing me, your own grandmother!"

A small smile played on Vera Xavier’s lips as she watched the performance. ’So, Rona Langdon’s impressive talent for throwing fits is a family trait!’

’In Vera Xavier’s eyes, however, there wasn’t much difference between dealing with one shrew and dealing with two. If Patricia Thompson wanted to wail, let her. She was determined to resolve this matter today, one way or another!’

She calmly brandished the knife. It was coated in watermelon juice. The red liquid clinging to the blade wasn’t as vivid as blood, but it was still a startling crimson.

Rona Langdon felt a chill as she stared at the knife in Vera’s hand. She glanced over at her brother, her sisters, and her brothers-in-law. Before coming here, they had been full of vicious threats, all vowing to beat Vera Xavier to within an inch of her life. But now, seeing this ferocious side of Vera, every last one of them had chickened out.

After all, even if they helped Rona Langdon secure the house, it would be hers. They wouldn’t get much out of the deal, so naturally, none of them were willing to risk life and limb by rushing forward.
