The Delicate Female Lead Only Wants to be Loved by the Villainous Young Ladies

Chapter 390: The Hunt’s Successful Conclusion

The encroachment wasn’t long. Iä!’s sinister laughter echoed as she sought a new host. Adele was the perfect target. Her instincts warned her, but instincts could be wrong. This was her only chance!

Before possessing Victoria, Iä! observed this world’s humans and their power. Compared to her old, weak world, this one was fascinating. She had devoured all knowledge prematurely in her world. If she had been patient, waited for the five-limbed, eight-legged beings (humans in her world evolved from octopus-like creatures) to create more...perhaps she wouldn’t have ended up alone. This was the consequence of unsustainable consumption.

Knowing human power, Iä! knew she couldn’t escape in Victoria’s injured body. The Ratmen were useless, failing to bring enough knowledge for her to level up. So, like a hermit crab, she needed a new host.

She waited for Adele, then feigned a fierce battle, sacrificing her remaining magic power. No pain, no gain. Iä! learned idioms quickly, especially curses. It seemed curses were the first thing anyone learned in a new language.

Iä! gave Adele the illusion of victory and saving Victoria, so she could strike at Adele’s unguarded soul! She wouldn’t fail again! Her previous failure, the “Dark Day,” was still fresh. Overwhelmed by mages, she possessed Victoria, only to be suppressed for millennia. It was only when Victoria, unable to resist Ron, wanted to use Iä!’s power to protect Adele that the contract was made. This was Iä!’s most humiliating experience as the “Devourer of Worlds.” She wouldn’t let it happen again! She had to have Adele!

Reality unfolded as planned. Adele, unguarded, was hit by Iä!’s mental attack. Iä! transferred her tiny remaining soul to Adele.

At first, like shapeless slime, she roamed Adele’s pure white mental world, a reflection of Adele’s innocent heart. Although calling Adele “pure” was a stretch, aside from her lewdness, she was sincere and kind.

Iä! tried to taint Adele’s mind, but then she froze. She saw something that shouldn’t exist: a door. A mental world should be closed, a box, a room, a peach, a cat, but always closed. An open mental world meant a dissipated soul, only happening after death. But Adele had a door.

A door was a form, a meaning. It meant Adele’s mental world could be opened and closed, or perhaps both at once, a “Schrödinger’s mental world.” This was beyond Iä!’s comprehension, but fascinating! She was curious! No evil god craved knowledge more than Iä!. If I open this door, she thought greedily, I’ll gain unprecedented knowledge and evolve!

Iä! couldn’t resist, even though she knew the safest course was to taint Adele’s mind and control her. Victoria had willingly surrendered her mental world; before that, Iä! couldn’t touch her. But Iä! was driven by her thirst for knowledge. If she didn’t solve the “mystery of the door,” she would go crazy!

So she extended a trembling tentacle and grasped the doorknob. It could be opened... Her hand trembled more, but her resolve hardened. She turned the knob and pulled the door open!

What she saw was unforgettable: an eye, a huge, curious eye filling the doorway, its white like snow, its pupil like cherry blossoms. Adele’s eye! Those unique cherry-pink eyes. Why is there a giant Adele eyeball outside her mental world!? No, not just an eyeball...a giant! A giant Adele outside her mental world!

Iä! glimpsed a vast, star-like world, ◆ Nоvеlіgһt ◆ (Only on Nоvеlіgһt) incomprehensible even to her. Under Giant Adele’s innocent gaze, Iä!’s mind went blank, feeling immense pressure. Even at my peak, there couldn’t be such a powerful soul...

By the time Iä! tried to escape, Giant Adele had reached into the white room and picked up Iä!, who was like black putty. Even at her peak, Iä! couldn’t break free!

“What are you doing...?” she shrieked.

But Giant Adele didn’t care. She had been woken up and was hungry. The elemental dumpling last time was tasty, but not enough. What about this black, flattened dumpling?

Munch, munch... Poor Iä! became a snack. The evil god’s legend should end here, but Giant “Adele,” after chewing, frowned in disgust, then spat out the saliva-covered Iä!.

“Disgusting...” she commented. Iä!’s soul was too mixed, like different colored putty mashed together, turning black. Then, she flicked the slime-like Iä! away, not just from her presence, but out of Adele’s mental world.

In reality, Adele vomited, expelling Iä! along with her food. Iä!’s soul, unlike others’, had a physical form, a lump of black slime. Now, it lay unconscious in Adele’s vomit. Humiliation! Far worse than possessing Victoria. At least then, she had taken root. But here, she was discarded like trash!

Unconsciousness was probably a defense mechanism. This reality was too despairing, her last chance of escape gone. Iä! would soon be contained.

Adele collapsed. Xiaosu, beside her, cried, “Sister Adele! Squeak!” and supported her. Adele, panting, regained consciousness and looked at Victoria, peacefully lying on the ground. The evil god’s power had dissipated.

Xiaosu’s mother, the Rat Queen, was freed. Other Ratmen rushed over, looking at Adele with a mixture of joy and fear. Xiaosu explained, and they realized Adele was their hero! Grateful squeaks filled the air.

Adele’s face turned slightly green, but she held back. Surrounded by rats...anyone would be freaked out! No wonder Ratmen weren’t accepted. Even Adele, with her universal love, felt apprehensive, but she quickly calmed down and gave a speech, promising to have the Enforcement Bureau resettle them, respecting their choice to stay or leave.

Director Yashi arrived, a faint smile on her lips. Adele had surprised her again, using her power for good and achieving great results, forcing out the evil god’s soul and finding the Ratmen.

Yashi walked towards Adele, who was using magic to clean and knead the “evil god slime.” Otherworldly souls had physical forms, like slime, able to possess bodies.

“Congratulations, Adele.”

“D-Director!? Why are you here!?” 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎

“I was an agent before becoming Director. You worked hard. The Bureau will reward you generously. Go rest, we’ll handle the rest~.”

Adele was relieved. “Thank you, Director.”

Yashi smiled and patted Adele’s shoulder. Adele, feeling recognized, looked at Xiaosu and then said to Yashi, “By the way! Director, and them...”

Yashi placed a gloved finger on Adele’s lips, her expression saying, I know, trust me.

Adele blushed and nodded, trusting the Bureau’s experience with foreign races.

Soon, other agents arrived, collecting Iä!’s unconscious slime-like soul in a special container.

Medical personnel attended to Victoria.

The “evil god hunt” ended successfully.

Adele, a mid-level agent, played a crucial role, deserving of MVP. S

he was invited to the Bureau’s celebratory party, but declined.

“I’m sorry, I already have an appointment.”

“There’s a...ahem, a girls’ tea party waiting for me!”

“I can’t let them down!”
