The Demon Emperor was Saint Emperor - Chapter 102: Demon Mirror Message
"Three years without seeing each other, your mouth still stinks as always."
Kent, the ambassador of the Eagle Empire, turned away from Brian’s embrace with a look of disgust. He’s a man of normal orientation, and if Brian hugged him, he wouldn’t be able to sleep for three days and nights due to the disgust.
"But you’re getting more fragrant."
Brian’s strength actually far exceeds that of Ambassador Kent, but he dared not use force against him. Anyone who can become an ambassador has a background that can’t be simple; he just indulged in verbal sparring.
"Cut the crap. You arrived too late; the Celestial Destiny Empire has undergone a major upheaval. Just in time, ambassadors from various nations will meet in the Imperial Palace. Hurry up and tidy yourself up to go with me to see Her Majesty the Empress."
Ambassador Kent had already received delayed communication from the frontlines and knew about Brian’s mission on this trip.
But now is not the time to immediately investigate the demon race’s mutation. After all, the Emperor of Celestial Destiny has changed, and to do anything of significance on their territory would require the new emperor’s permission.
"What major upheaval? And who is Her Majesty the Empress? Did the dimwitted Celestial Destiny Emperor finally tire of playing with women and turn into one himself?"
Upon hearing this from Ambassador Kent, Brian’s mind was immediately a mess. He had only been traveling for a few days, just delayed a bit in the Beastman Kingdom, and now he couldn’t make sense of anyone’s words.
"The Sixth Princess Helena of Celestial Destiny Empire, along with the mysterious power Lynn, killed the Celestial Destiny Emperor. Yesterday, the two openly held an inauguration ceremony in the Imperial Palace, which was essentially cutting away the Empire’s corrupt flesh, executing nearly ninety percent of the nation’s nobility. Now the surface seems calm in Celestial Destiny Empire, but secretly, it’s probably in chaos."
Seeing Brian’s perplexed expression, Ambassador Kent took the time to briefly explain the so-called major upheaval.
This information came from the Empire’s spies, and of course, those involved didn’t really hide anything. Anyone interested could easily find out.
These matters, though easy to say in a few sentences, actually have extremely profound impact on the Celestial Destiny Empire and the entire continent.
The assassination of the king in the Golden Hall was unprecedented, and they aimed at the entire empire’s noble class ruthlessly.
How would the people from the other Seven Great Empires view this?
Surely they can’t sit back and watch entirely. If the knife can strike the Celestial Destiny Emperor, and chop at the Empire’s nobility, then one day it might even rest against their throats...
"Assassinate the emperor, chop the nobility... Wow, amazing!"
Brian muttered upon hearing, having been somewhat lazy during his education, his expressions seemed somewhat lacking.
"They did two refreshing things. It’s all about eliminating harm for the people, and though Celestial Destiny Empire’s populace might benefit, some of our empire’s folks might not sit comfortably."
Kent didn’t directly say who, but Brian understood what he meant.
If Celestial Destiny Empire becomes "suitable for human habitation," countless refugees may start considering returning home.
Even if only a tenth or two have the guts to try it, that’s a severe loss for Eagle Empire, as they are population, taxes, and gold coins!
"But what can we do? We can’t just cause trouble in Celestial Destiny Empire, can we? Then we’d hardly be humans."
Coming around, Brian frowned deeply, knowing the plight of Celestial Destiny Empire’s people. Now that they finally have some hope, for Eagle Empire’s benefit, you can’t just destroy their hope, right?
Brian doesn’t consider himself a good person, quirky and with unusual tastes, but he’d never do something rotten to the core like this.
"Who told you to cause trouble? I’m asking you to describe to the Celestial Destiny Empress the difficulties on the frontlines and Eagle Empire’s contributions, aiming to sign a treaty with her. As per the terms, Celestial Destiny’s nationals return to Celestial Destiny Empire, Eagle Empire’s nationals return to Eagle Empire. If nationals cross borders, they should be repatriated, understand?"
Ambassador Kent wished he could use his boot to kick Brian’s bum hard; that guy thought him too wicked, how could he do those rotten things?
"That I can manage! Now the demon race is experiencing mutation, particularly affecting Celestial Destiny Empire. I have a reason to urge Celestial Destiny Empire to guard against the demon race’s mutation rather than focusing on integrating nationals."
With that, Brian immediately set off to organize his gear, leaving the rest of the team at the embassy, while he dressed up for the audience with Ambassador Kent to see the Celestial Destiny Empress.
As they prepared to set off, the ambassadors from other nations were also busy.
Affairs within the Imperial Palace relied on Helena’s handling; Lynn was already exhausted just supporting the household.
After a round of extensive shopping, Lynn filled Vivian’s and Xiya’s storage rings to the brim.
Little Youli and Little Yuna also donned matching adorable outfits, holding hands, looking completely like twins, attracting second glances from passersby.
"Will we eat at home or outside?"
With storage rings, there’s no need to carry large bags, Lynn led Vivian with thin cheeks around the front, speaking while looking back at Xiya, who’s with the children.
"Eat at home. Outside’s vegetable salads and boiled greens taste the same."
Xiya wasn’t picky about food, just eating greens, so where she eats doesn’t matter much.
"I... I just bought a baking compendium and would love to try new flavored cupcakes with the children."
Holding Vivian’s small hand all along, her face flushed red, but she couldn’t refuse her boyfriend’s small request to hold hands, forced to bear the embarrassment and act indifferent.
"Then we’ll... go home."
Hearing his two wives’ unanimous decision, Lynn complied and said so, only he paused suddenly when agreeing, causing Xiya to cast a puzzling glance at him.
"It’s nothing. Helena sent me a message; I’ll go and help her this afternoon."
Seeing Xiya’s questioning look, Lynn casually explained; she replied with an indifferent "oh," not probing further.
But behind Lynn, Little Yuna wrinkled her nose, seemingly smelling something odd. However, since it quickly vanished, leaving no trace, it just led to her uncertainly scratching her head.
"At 3 PM, the Legion Commander of the 13th legion of Lust Demon Kingdom will lead a reserve attack on Celestial Destiny City’s outskirts; spatial rifts have appeared, which will be widened into temporary pathways by demons. Please, Demon Emperor, eradicate them. Tha... thank you; coordinates attached."
The message displayed on the Demon Mirror lying in Lynn’s storage ring, with geographic coordinates at the lower left, and a name at the lower right.
Ilya Murphy...
