The Demon Emperor was Saint Emperor
Chapter 231: Fierce Battle
"Oh? Waiting for my demon to arrive? I’m afraid you’ll run at the sight of them; I haven’t killed enough yet!"
Lynn looked proudly at the Purgatory Demigods across from him, who could be called a battle team, with a hint of disdain in his eyes.
Though so many demons teamed up would be difficult for him to handle, it did not stop him from belittling them in attitude. After all, these demons were only as challenging as a single encounter; only the leader seemed somewhat interesting.
"Your Majesty Demon Emperor, since you have ascended the throne, we admit your status. But our factions oppose each other, and you initiated the war of belief early; don’t blame us for being disrespectful. If you insist on not retreating now, then we’ll have to fight you too..."
Lynn couldn’t tell if it was an illusion, but he felt the Purgatory Demons opposite him were quite polite. Even after killing so many demons, they still spoke with courtesy first, showing that the title of Demon Emperor had weight in the Demon Realm, earning even adversary demons certain respect.
"I am a Divine Envoy of the Guardian Demon God. We have no extra conditions to discuss. Submit or die, those are your only options!"
As Lynn spoke, he unleashed a breathtaking Breath of the Evil Dragon, enveloping the area with overwhelming Demon Emperor Imperial Might. The fleeing Demon Race soldiers were instantly frozen in place, unable to move, and even the Purgatory Demigods in the sky were suppressed, their power reduced by about one-tenth.
This was due to their united aura, jointly resisting the Demon Emperor’s Imperial Might. If a single Purgatory Demigod faced the Illidan Demon Emperor alone, the Imperial Might would likely strip away thirty percent of his strength.
Feeling his strength greatly suppressed, Rivers’ expression changed. Being young, he had not experienced the era when the Guardian Demon God Faction dominated the Demon Emperor’s throne, so he hadn’t suffered from the Imperial Might. Now, opposing the new Demon Dragon Emperor, he realized how challenging the old Demon Dragon Emperor’s adversaries were back in the day.
"Want us to submit? Not even in death! Everyone, form a battle array; let’s see if the Demon Emperor can swallow us whole!" 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚
Seeing that persuasion couldn’t sway the Illidan Demon Emperor, Rivers knew the truth would be revealed in combat. With insistence on not retreating, he expected their strength would eventually deter the opponent.
As the words fell, one hundred Purgatory Demigods took their positions, with three most powerful standing proudly at the forefront, namely Rivers and his two vice-commanders.
The two vice-commanders, one male and one female, had hellish appearances; if Lynn were to evaluate, he’d say seeing them would make even an old sow seem quite charming.
Though these vice-commanders were somewhat ugly, their strength was quite remarkable, both possessing 960-level power, standing at the peak of the Purgatory Demon Race, even superior to Rivers alone.
Now, with the one hundred Purgatory Demigods forming a battle array, similar to a legion supporting its Legion Commander, the three Purgatory Marshals front-line received the array’s support, albeit lacking cross-border power.
Nevertheless, the power supplied by one hundred demigods, even divided among three, pushed the two vice-commanders to 980-level and Rivers, the Grand Marshal, to a terrifying 990-level.
Despite the opposing Demon Dragon Emperor being a 999-level Near God, one 990-level and two 980-level peak demigods together were likely not inferior.
A pity the power couldn’t be enjoyed by a single marshal, for no one could withstand the infusion of power from one hundred demigods. Otherwise, maybe they’d produce a temporary Near God.
"Interesting, interesting."
Lynn applauded and chuckled, impressed by the demons’ resourcefulness in compensating for their lack of strength, more advanced than the Human Race.
"Your Majesty Demon Emperor, forgive the offense!"
Rivers and his forces attacked swiftly, aware that borrowed power, while lasting, couldn’t match regular conditions, prompting a pursuit of a quick resolution.
Almost simultaneously, the three marshals struck, with the two vice-commanders wielding demon artifact-level weapons, a saber and a spear, showing they often fought together with perfect harmony, effectively blocking counterattack opportunities.
Rivers was no less formidable, nearly a Near God now, his black-red heavy halberd bringing total destruction, capable of slicing a demigod-level strong contender in one stroke.
"Well done!"
Facing such adversaries, Lynn approached with caution, no longer complacent and unarmed. He pulled out the reserve war axe given by Ilya, though it wasn’t entirely comfortable; it was better than bare fists against demon weapons.
With a resonating "clang,"
The war axe collided fiercely with the heavy halberd, and the resulting wave of violent magic power rippled through the space. The immobilized demon soldiers and generals were in deep trouble, turning to ashes amid the aftermath of the battle between two peak warriors.
Yet, before Lynn could remark on their efficiency, the two vice-commanders’ attacks came surging in, forcing him to intercept with his axe.
