Chapter 438: Chapter 286: Which Will Come First, the Flood or the Boat?

"Senior... you don’t want me to come with you?"

A look of disappointment immediately crossed Mother Divination’s face.

But she also seemed to understand.

"I understand."

’What do you understand?’

Through his mask, Yang An glanced at her. It was hard to imagine what was going through Mother Divination’s head, but he couldn’t be bothered to explain.

’The world bustles, all for personal gain. It was time to let go of the urge to help and respect the fate of others.’

The debt of gratitude had been repaid, so they were even. He had important things to do and just wanted to leave as quickly as possible. What he needed were people who could help him, not a burden.

"I will finish what you’ve started here, Senior. I’m sure we will meet again on the Outer Continent."

It seemed Mother Divination had made some sort of resolution. After all, she had already sworn an oath.

"That would be for the best. We’ll meet again if fate allows."

Yang An nodded but didn’t pay it any mind.

With matters here concluded, he decided to use his remaining time to visit Sansong Mountain and confirm his suspicions.

After saying his goodbyes to Mother Divination, Yang An left Golden Egg Jade Island, disappearing into the distance under her longing gaze.

Following the direction from memory, Yang An entered Dingzhou and headed toward Sansong Mountain.

He flew at full speed, completely unleashing his Zombie God aura, so no one dared approach to cause him any trouble.

Before long, Yang An entered the territory near Sansong Mountain.

He couldn’t sense the aura of any other living beings here. It was just as Mother Divination had said; the area had become a Forbidden Land. No one would be bored enough to come here, especially since it wasn’t as if some treasure was hidden away.

Yang An landed in a relatively open area, finally arriving before a very distinct boundary.

When he was about a dozen meters away, Yang An stopped and did not advance further.

He could already sense that the area ahead was an untouchable region, one that even his perception could not penetrate.

This must be the edge of the area affected by the anomaly at Sansong Mountain.

To his eyes, the area ahead appeared completely unobstructed, yet it exuded a powerful sense of unreality.

It felt like looking through a pane of clear glass; he could see the scenery behind it, but the scenery itself was an illusion.

Yang An looked down at a large rock by his feet, then kicked it, sending it flying straight toward the area.

When the rock reached the very edge of what Yang An could perceive, it stopped dead. It made no sound, as if it had run into a wad of cotton, before falling to the ground.

Yang An tried several more times, not just with rocks. He confirmed that nothing could enter the invisible region and, sensing no danger, slowly approached. He finally stopped before the formless barrier.

He slowly raised his hand, preparing to test it himself. Perhaps he could glean some information with his Identification Ability. In his mind, he was already prepared to sacrifice the hand if necessary.

His finger lightly touched the invisible barrier. Ripples immediately spread out in circles before Yang An, but he couldn’t push any further. He was stopped right there.

The sensation was not like touching a physical object. He simply felt a clear, formless obstruction preventing his hand from moving forward.

What puzzled Yang An was that when he touched this formless obstruction, no information box popped up.

He could usually identify information on anything related to cultivation with his ability. This was the first time it had yielded nothing.

’If this is the reaction, could it be that this formless obstruction actually has nothing to do with cultivation?’

This reminded Yang An of the Land of Shattered Armor between the Four Outer Domains. When he passed through that Barrier, there was no information either.

It was more a manifestation of a phenomenon, rather than a thing. It was similar to how he couldn’t get information about an enemy’s Technique just by touching the Technique itself, because it wasn’t a physical object.

But he could be certain of one thing: this invisible Barrier could be touched, and for now, it posed no danger.

This made Yang An want to try other methods. For instance, could this formless obstruction be destroyed?

A large amount of Dust emerged from Yang An’s pores, all of it adhering to his hand as he threw a punch forward.

THUMP!

When his fist met the formless obstruction, it made only a faint sound. The force of his punch was then swallowed up without a trace, giving him no feedback whatsoever.

He immediately switched to trying a Technique. A brilliant light bloomed from his hand, the full might of the Magic Light compressed into his fist, causing the surrounding light to warp drastically.

But when the light hit the formless obstruction, Yang An was stunned.

His fist could go no further, but the light itself stretched infinitely forward. It seemed to have passed through the formless obstruction, creating a plane of light that extended without end.

’This feeling...’

Yang An froze for a second. It seemed that although the barrier was right in front of him, the space within it had been stretched to infinity, creating the obstruction.

He seemed to understand.

’But if that’s the case, how can I ever find out what anomaly occurred inside Sansong Mountain?’

Extinguishing the light, Yang An began to ponder.

He was desperate to know what connection the anomaly inside had to Pan Yu, or even to the Central Continent, but he couldn’t think of any way to find out.
