The Devil's Secretary
Chapter 335: She is dead...
’’My sister-in-law is taking good care of you. I don’t see where the problem is.’’
’’Who are you calling sister-in-law? My sister hasn’t married you yet,’’ Daisy frowned.
’’She will. Eventually,’’ As if his inverse scales were poked, Maxim finally lost his calm.
’’Enough!" Diana was speechless.
When they had face-timed each other, Maxim and Daisy were talking like siblings. She could not believe they were back at bickering.
What were they, 3?
’’Let’s all go out so that the doctor can proceed with his checkup.’’
The doctor looked at Diana as if she was his saviour.
’’I will stay here.’’ Daisy calmly declared.
Diana sighed, ’’You are also coming out. He will be fine.’’
Daisy frowned.
But Diana did not give her a chance to ponder or hesitate any further. She walked up to her and dragged her out.
Ryle also gave Daisy an assuring look.
Eventually, Daisy left the room, albeit reluctantly. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚
The doctor wiped his sweat discreetly.
Caleb had stayed over at the hospital for long and he had things to handle in the company so he left in a rush seeing that things were good.
Maxim kept little Elias with him and stayed back outside the VIP room and Diana took Daisy outside to the garden area.
Suddenly, Daisy stopped walking.
Diana turned around to look at her, ’’Don’t tell me you want to rush back right away. That poor doctor was shivering at the sight of you. I am afraid he would make a mistake with the checkup if he sees you there...’’
’’Ana, how are your wounds?" Daisy cut her off.
Diana blinked.
’’You have deliberately put on more makeup and you are wearing extra layers. If you think you can hide it from me, think again,’’ Daisy crossed her arms in front of her chest.
Diana looked a little guilty. She rubbed her neck, ’’I didn’t want to worry you so I tried...’’ she sighed, ’’I still cannot hide anything from you after all.’’
Daisy’s face softened. She approached Diana and rubbed her hair, ’’I am sorry. This time, it’s all my fault. I almost put you in danger...’’
’’Daisy, stop blaming yourself for everything. You cannot expect everything in life to be good all the time,’’ Diana frowned a little as she held her sister’s hand, ’’You have always been living under the burden of not letting things go wrong but you should know that these things are not your fault...’’
Daisy was stunned by Diana’s sudden outburst.
’’Making wrong choices, trusting wrong people... it is something every normal person does. And you are also made of flesh and blood. Still, if not for you making arrangements for our safety then maybe I would not even...’’ Diana shook her head, ’’In this entire event, Si Yena is to blame.’’
’’And no matter what you did, you could not have prevented what she had been planning for months. Evil as she is, she must have kept her backup plans. So, if you have someone to blame for all of these, blame her.’’
Daisy lowered her gaze, ’’She is dead.’’
Diana fell silent, ’’Are you certain of it?"
’’The entire property was burned down and later, it was seized by the police....’’ Daisy pulled out her phone and handed it to Diana.
Diana glanced at the text.
’Miss Chen, we have not recovered a single body here. Everything has turned to ashes.’
’’One of the members of the police team informed me of this,’’ And given the grand scale of things, Daisy did not find it impossible as well.
At that, Si Yena was shot and left in the fire.
If only one body was not found then it would have been suspicious.
But Si Yena had a huge team of suicide guards by her side and not a single man escaped from that fire.
On their way to hospital that day, Ryle’s condition seemed to worsen with every second. To distract him and not let him fall unconscious, she kept talking to him.
And it was then that he revealed that generation after generation, the Kingsley family conditioned strong men as suicide fighters. The master of every generation would take in their hands to improve their manpower.
A large number of strong and huge men were usually selected for this and after countless rounds of torture and trainings, many of them would die, leaving behind a small number of barely 10 or 20 people.
And those remaining people would then go under medication, experimentations, and enhancement drugs to boost their strengths. By the time they were completely ready to join the team, they would only be a shell of their former selves. These men were powerful beyond anything but they would also be docile to the one who ordered them.
It explained why the people did not even try to escape in the chaos and rather stood there blindly till they were burnt in the fire.
After a long while, Daisy sighed and looked up at the sky as she whispered, ’’She couldn’t have made it.’’
Diana quietly patted Daisy’s head.
In fact, Diana hated Si Yena with every fiber of her being and she knew that Daisy hated her too.
But unlike her, Daisy had a lot of complicated feelings entangled with the hatred she had for Si Yena.
They did not really have an ideal childhood but Si Yena had been Daisy’s best friend for most of her life. She had been a part of all her life’s ups and down. Diana could not tell when things started to go wrong between them at all. But looking at Daisy, she could tell that Daisy did not look exactly relieved over Si Yena’s death.
She was calm but in her eyes, there was a hint of pity.
The next day.
"The reports are all fine so there is nothing to worry about,’’ Maxim was sitting on the chair next to the hospital bed but his words were directed at Daisy who was seated on the couch with her arms crossed.
