Chapter 896: Residency Doctors Arrive

"Teacher Liu, is it effective?"
After the patient's mother pushed the child to the ward with the nurse, Xu Yino couldn't wait to ask.
"How can it be so quick? If it were like that, I'd just open a 'talk therapy' clinic in the future and earn heaps of money." Liu Banxia said.
"This kid has a lot on his mind, which might be the internal factor affecting his current condition. If it were a carefree child, they might not even care whether their parents divorce or not."
"But we are outsiders, and I'm not a proper psychological consultant. I'm worried about saying the wrong thing and having a negative effect. If his mother can work through his thoughts and untangle what's hidden in his heart, I think his leg will be fine."
"But this is the best outcome prediction we can make, and whether it's feasible needs to be observed slowly. A psychological problem is still an illness; we need to strengthen our training in this area."
"Teacher Liu, should we find some psychology books to read?" Xu Yino asked eagerly.
"You can read them if you have the time, but I don't think it's necessary to elevate it to that level." Liu Banxia said with a smile.
"In time you'll be half-educated and then casually chat with patients, what if they get upset? It's better to rely on your instincts."
"Moreover, not all the patients we receive will be like this. Comfort is more important, as most of our patients need surgical intervention."
Xu Yino nodded, realizing she was indeed making a mountain out of a molehill. You don't encounter such situations every time; after all these years in the hospital, it's just the first one she encountered.
"Go do your work diligently, stop overthinking. Focus on training the interns; the resident doctors will be brought over soon, and you're responsible for the reception." Liu Banxia said.
"Ah? Why me again?" Xu Yino asked, feeling frustrated.
"If not you, who else? Just deliver them to each department." Liu Banxia said lightly.
Xu Yino was very frustrated but had no choice. This task was assigned to her, and she had to complete it without hesitation.
This time, there are quite a few resident doctors, two civilians in the general surgery department and one from a unit. Plus, there are 11 more from other departments.
"Have you arranged for your little patient? How long is the stay?" Zhou Li came over.
"With good luck, maybe just tonight. With bad luck, maybe two to three days." Liu Banxia thought for a moment and said.
"It's really uncertain now; mainly, the child's illness hasn't been confirmed to be caused by psychological factors. Anyway, external tests haven't found anything."
"Alright, I'll try to coordinate." Zhou Li nodded.
"Have you informed Qiaoqiao? This girl is actually concerned about this; she told me a lot. Even though you're now deputy director, I still have to criticize you when necessary."
"I did, reported it immediately." Liu Banxia said helplessly.
"That's more like it, back to work, are the resident nurses coming over the day after tomorrow?" Zhou Li asked.
Liu Banxia nodded.
"Great, we'll be a bit more relaxed." Zhou Li said and then wandered off to the side.
Liu Banxia looked around and wandered over to the neurology department.
"Has the biopsy result for that patient come out?" Zhang Ping, who was sorting out medical records, asked.
"The result is negative. I've found out some more details. Now I feel the child might have been affected by mental stress, leading to the inability to walk, is there such a possibility?" Liu Banxia said.
"Affected by mental stress? Hmmβ¦, it should be possible. But usually, such influences are temporary, lasting so long is quite rare." Zhang Ping thought for a moment and said.
"Anyway, we can't find out anything now. I'm temporarily treating it as the cause." Liu Banxia said.
"The child's parents are getting divorced; he overheard their conversation last night. I think this could be a major source of stress."
"Also, the child has many thoughts and has been conflicted for quite some time; he's a deep thinker. With mutual influences, I think it's possible."
Liu Banxia's tone was full of uncertainty, because his thoughts are based on understanding his own situation when making the judgment.
In some literature, he had read that when humans are subjected to massive stress, not only do unusual mental expressions occur, but bodily functions can be impacted.
Equivalent to a kind of pain transfer, some people become mute after experiencing stress.
"Very promising, let's see; maybe this path is correct." Zhang Ping smiled and said.
"What, you want to venture into psychiatry? I've noticed, you really can cross disciplines, even several at once. When are you choosing mooncakes?"
"Choosing in the next few days, I've just taken office, then I need to coordinate with the hospital and get the procurement rights; I don't know if I'll upset anyone." Liu Banxia said.
"Hey...Director Liu, everyone's thoughts are pretty much the same. We're not looking for quantity, just something easy to enjoy. Our doctors find happiness in the holidays," Zhang Ping said.
"Haha, I get it. You must be on duty that day," Liu Banxia laughed.
"Don't worry, this time our mooncakes will be both good quality and won't exceed the budget. We'll survey everyone later to see which fillings they prefer and pick the top one, two, three, or four."
"Oh, and the trainee doctors should be coming over soon. Over in Neurology, one from unit and one from society, they can still be good helpers."
Zhang Ping nodded. This is considered good news, having more people is always helpful.
Just as they came out of Neurology, they saw Xu Yino leading the trainee doctors over.
"You're here already?" Liu Banxia asked.
"Director Liu, do you want to say a few words?" Xu Yino asked seriously.
"Nah, just get them assigned to their departments. Make sure each department makes the arrangements before they get off work. Coming this late must mean the hospital already held the orientation meeting," Liu Banxia said.
"Hehe, Teacher Liu, I just remembered something, why didn't they invite you over?" Xu Yino asked with a playful smile.
The trainee doctors were a bit puzzled by this and mentally noted not to mess with Teacher Xu.
"That's a job for the hospital administration. I'm just here to assist the director with teaching and training. My main responsibility is still our emergency center. Let's get them assigned quickly," Liu Banxia said.
He knew Xu Yino was introducing him in a different way, but he felt it wasn't necessary.
"Wait a moment."
Xu Yino was about to leave when Liu Banxia called her back.
"Take my meal card and treat them to dinner as a welcome gesture. And for Wang Chao and the others, whoever is on duty, just use my card," Liu Banxia said.
"Hahaha, I thought you'd forget about this. What should we eat? Tsk tsk, having full control here. Guys, follow your general," Xu Yino called out cheerfully. ππΏπ²ππ πππ»πΌπ―ππ.ππΌπΊ
Liu Banxia shook his head helplessly. This girl's energy was quite overwhelming.
Though they needed to be assigned to the various departments, a small meeting was necessary beforehand to explain the workings and discipline of the emergency center.
These things, however, did not require Liu Banxia's participation; Xu Yino could handle it directly.
"Now our emergency center is truly strong and powerful. Did you check their standards?" Qi Wentai asked.
"I really haven't looked closely. Let's observe them well during training," Liu Banxia said.
"I gave the meal card to Xu Yino. Just order whatever you want for dinner. It's a good chance to welcome them, whether you or Wang Chao hosts, it's fine."
"Let's have Wang Chao handle it. He's pretty skilled in this area," Qi Wentai said.
"What's up? Why me again?" Wang Chao chimed in as he approached.
"Isn't there anything happening in the upstairs ward?" Liu Banxia asked.
"No issues, just some routine post-surgery infections, nothing major," Wang Chao replied.
"Then plan your evening and give the trainee doctors a welcome dinner," Liu Banxia said.
"If it weren't for today's special circumstance, I'd stick around longer. I need to report back to my family, got a message earlier. My father-in-law is planning quite a bit, even Old Qiu has been called over."
"Sure, no problem, is there enough balance on the meal card?" Wang Chao asked with a smile.
"How much can they eat? Just enjoy yourselves, it's a happy occasion for me too," Liu Banxia said.
"Hehe, Old Chen mentioned he'll organize tomorrow night. Hahaha... so nice," Wang Chao said happily.
"This guy, seems like you've set your sights on us," Liu Banxia said helplessly.
He knew it wasn't about the meals; it was like when Shi Lei and the others invited him for a meal. It was about maintaining relationships and offering comfort.
Otherwise, in their minds, rest would undoubtedly be more important than fine food and drink.
"Don't forget, I'm taking the night off the day after tomorrow," Wang Chao reminded.
"I won't forget, just rest assured. Have you arranged things with Officer Ma? It's best to set a time, taking a break isn't easy," Liu Banxia said.
"Sigh... that's why I'm inviting her to my home for dinner. I need to come clean with my family, otherwise I'll always be on edge," Wang Chao sighed.
It amused Liu Banxia because he had been the instigator. Back then, he encouraged Wang Chao, but it was also because those two already had a somewhat unclear relationship.
