The Evil God Summoned by the Saintess
Chapter 109 - 107: Stalking and Conflict
The next day.
Hilia packed her bags, secured her magic puppet, and asked Rose for help tracking Anarce. She left the school, disguised herself in a secluded spot, and then went to find Anarce.
Anarce’s return trip was via the Celestial Horse Flying Vehicle provided by Nosen, which was very fast.
Hilia didn’t want to spend money on a flying mount and was concerned that a rented flying mount and flying device wouldn’t keep up with the Celestial Horse Flying Vehicle. So she decided to find Benovia and asked for a ride on the Holy Winged Unicorn.
The speed of the Holy Winged Unicorn was much faster than the Celestial Horse Flying Vehicle. Hilia overtook Anarce directly and arrived at Frost Town with Benovia, waiting there.
Without hesitation, Benovia agreed to Hilia’s request, took her to Frost Town, and left without asking anything.
Hilia wanted to reimburse her for the ride, but Benovia seemed to be in a hurry and turned around to leave right after Hilia got off.
Seeing that Hilia had arrived early, Rose couldn’t help but laugh and said, "Aren’t you afraid Anarce won’t show up?"
"She’ll definitely come. She knows I’m following her to Frost Town. If she doesn’t come..."
Well, Hilia wouldn’t do anything about it; she just wouldn’t care anymore afterward.
Hilia tightened her down jacket, judged the direction, and walked toward the Mercenary Guild.
"Winter has come early here. It’s so cold. Luckily, I wore thick clothes in advance."
At 16, Hilia had almost fully matured. Her height of 165 cm, under a thick coat, still revealed a trace of a slender curve, albeit a small one.
The cold wind was piercing. Hilia arrived at the Mercenary Guild, sat there for a long time, and only stood up to leave after a reminder from Rose.
"Your good friend has arrived."
"Where?"
Rose didn’t speak but gave Hilia a direction.
Hilia quickly moved and soon arrived near the location. She disguised herself as an ordinary passerby, stood diagonally across the street, and watched the car parked on the street, along with Anarce and Nosen coming down from it.
Nosen said a few words to Anarce, then sat back in the carriage, waved to her, and left.
"Nosen isn’t going with her?" Hilia was surprised.
"If he went, it wouldn’t be private revenge," Rose smiled. "Just like you didn’t come with her."
Hilia thought for a moment. Indeed, that made sense.
"That Nosen didn’t leave. He got off at a mansion. Want to check it out and maybe rob the rich to help the poor?" Rose suggested.
Hilia shook her head, "I don’t do stealing and robbery. It’s risking your life, and the money earned is not as much as selling scrolls for two days."
Rose couldn’t help but laugh aloud.
The last time they went to trouble the Dusk Sect, they couldn’t even take much from the ferryman besides a little gold coins, and most of the time was spent rushing around, incurring more costs.
Instead, spending these past few days focusing on crafting magic scrolls earned her much more money than targeting a stronghold.
Ignoring the material acquisition, the comparison made Hilia resolute in making money with scroll crafting.
She was even a bit puzzled.
"Turns out making money is so easy, why doesn’t anyone do it?"
Rose didn’t answer but assigned her a task, "Go experience a day of potion making for money."
Then she understood.
"Oh, it’s because I’m a rune genius!"
"..."
On the other side, after seeing the car leave, Anarce first went to the florist and bought two bouquets of flowers. The flowers had traces of magic, meaning they survived from summer to winter through magic, now finding their way into Anarce’s hands.
Anarce looked at the white flowers and left the town along the main road. Outside the town, she walked down a small path, winding her way through until she arrived at two graves, placing a bouquet on each gravestone.
"Father, Mother, please forgive me for coming to see you so late, but rest assured, tomorrow, I will visit again, carrying the heads of those people."
After paying her respects, she returned to Frost Town and went to her familiar little home.
The house that bore all her joy and sorrow, childhood memories, now seemed a bit dilapidated, with quite a bit of dust on the doorknob.
She took out her key, unlocked the door, when a voice came from the side.
"Eh? Aren’t you... the magical genius of the town?"
Anarce looked up to see the aunt from next door, who was eyeing her with uncertainty and surprise.
"You’re not dead?"
Anarce: "..."
"Pfft!"
Hilia, observing secretly, couldn’t help but laugh.
Luckily, she was at a distance, purely relying on Mage’s Hand for tracking and eavesdropping, or else she would have been discovered.
"Looks like Anarce doesn’t plan to take action today, she’ll wait until tomorrow."
Hilia said this while planning where to stay first.
But Rose said, "That might not be true. She plans to seek revenge tomorrow, but others might not wait until tomorrow to find her."
Hilia’s eyes lit up, "Those thugs are going to confront her? Aren’t they afraid of death?"
Rose chuckled softly, "Do you think people from such a small place would understand someone becoming a Tier One Mage with a magic puppet in half a year?"
"Isn’t it normal?"
"Normal for you, but not for others. Besides, it’s normal for such places to have one or two mages among the thugs."
"Then I’ll find a place nearby to wait."
Hilia said, finding a tavern nearby, sat down, ordered the cheapest drink, but didn’t consume it, mainly to avoid being thrown out.
But she overestimated; it was morning, the tavern was quiet with no one around, and she could stay as long as she wanted.
About an hour later, Hilia noticed something happening with Anarce’s situation, realizing someone indeed went over. She quickly settled her bill and dashed off.
"They came so fast? Even the Law Enforcement Knight Order of the Holy Court isn’t this quick!"
While running, Hilia speculated in her mind, "Did Nosen deliberately leak information to the gang?"
Rose smiled gently, "No, but it’s possible the information was leaked beforehand. They’re quick this time because the local thugs are plenty and they know Anarce. Seeing her return, they hurried to inform."
"I see."
Hilia had arrived nearby, looking toward Anarce’s house.
She saw five people standing at her doorstep, surrounding Anarce at the door in a semicircle.
Doors that were previously open around closed with their arrival, afraid of provoking trouble.
Further away, many residents observed the commotion from windows or second floors, eager to watch.
"Is Anarce going to start a massacre in broad daylight?" Hilia muttered to herself.
She felt her own adrenaline rising with excitement.
Massacring in public, as long as she thought of being the Holy Daughter, was something she could never do.
But watching a friend do it would be quite thrilling.
"Anarce hasn’t even acted, and your adrenaline is already up," Rose chided.
"I’m worried for Anarce, that’s all."
"Heh."
As they spoke, Anarce’s confrontation reached a boiling point.
A thug, speaking harshly, stepped forward intending to grab Anarce.
But as he was about to touch her, he cried out in agony, clutching his hand.
A deep cut appeared on that hand!
