The game has become a real alternate world
Chapter 1045 - 726: Against Time
The sky where light and purple veins clashed.
The desolate land was deathly silent, with only one towering structure piercing the sky.
And at the top of the tower, a shadow silently watched.
"Is this the scene of the end of the world? To think that it’s the Holy Light confronting it at this moment."
As he spoke, he seemed to recall something, leisurely turning his head to look at Kana and said, "Do you know, your world particularly loves plagiarism. In the Star Realm, I’ve been an Evil God for quite some time, and it’s the first time I’ve seen a world like yours.
"Apart from humans, your world almost has nothing original. In some worlds with highly developed societies, your world would have long been sued for plagiarism."
"I don’t understand."
Kana thought to himself, this guy still wants to get more out of me.
However, what the other person said wasn’t entirely incorrect.
Unlike most entertainment works, in the Star Realm, humans are not a ubiquitous race but unique to this world.
The Star Realm contains various kinds of worlds; due to the differences in each world and its will, all sorts of life forms, such as Elves, Dwarves, Half-Elves, Beastmen, Half-Beastmen, and others, were born.
Rarely does a world have multiple intelligent races appearing simultaneously. If this happens, the additional races are likely outsiders.
Take the Elves, for instance; they have always been keen on colonization.
Of course, thanks to their highly developed society and deep understanding of the Star Realm, Elven colonization tends more toward settling in worlds not yet fully developed.
Then coexisting peacefully with the current world, gaining the dominant position among the world’s intelligent life.
This is essentially not much different from the Star Realm Giant Dragons.
Except that the Star Realm Giant Dragons can roam interstellar space individually, while Elves rely on their own technology.
Hence, all humanoid races in this world are essentially humans. Even if they encounter Elves from the outside world, those Elves wouldn’t acknowledge them as kin.
After all, they are fundamentally different.
The same applies to races such as Dwarves.
Therefore, calling these races humanoid isn’t incorrect; even the Elven upper echelons tacitly agree with this notion, as they’re well aware of it.
It’s just that lower-level Elves, due to their inherent arrogance, always feel this is an insult.
As for those non-human races that evolved from animals, they are essentially plagiarists as well.
However, they copy non-intelligent races or rather non-high-level intelligent races from other worlds.
In essence, this is the result of biological evolution in this world.
So, on the surface, this world appears vibrant, with many races blending, but in reality, they are all variants of the same type.
The stronger one is, the more they understand this.
This also explains why this world has many races, yet the internal conflicts never escalate to the point of annihilation.
Besides races, in terms of power, there are plagiarism issues as well.
For example, Magic Power, one of the earliest forces.
In actuality, Magic Power is quite common and universal in the Star Realm. To some extent, it isn’t plagiarism; "introduction" is more accurate.
Powers like Holy Light follow the same principle.
Only the Stone of Creation, this unique item, is the world’s true treasure.
It is essentially a limitation of the world’s authority.
A true treasure born when the world’s will has yet to awaken.
Its existence is the sole true power this world has to possibly endure the Void, unmatched by any other.
"Stop talking nonsense. Haven’t you dug up enough secrets yet?"
Upon hearing Kana’s words, the dark shadow merely smirked casually.
"You’re underestimating yourself. Once you’re conscious, your spirit and will are heavily protected, and I can’t randomly dig around in your mind.
"Besides, this current scene offers nothing of significant value to dig up. Look, the Void hasn’t even fully invaded yet."
As he spoke, the shadow raised his hand and waved it lightly.
The surrounding scenes seemed to enter fast forward, playing out as if the plot were advancing rapidly.
The conflict in the sky ultimately ended with the shattering of the Holy Light.
The endless golden light fell like rain.
A large number of Teleportation Gates appeared in front of the tower.
Many people clad in high-level equipment surged from the gates, shouting, creating a scene of chaos devoid of order.
Only in some corners could one see orderly troops, even glimpsing some peculiar figures clad in unusual attire among the crowd.
The blend of various races was bewildering.
The shadow merely cast a slightly puzzled glance, then turned his attention away.
Because he found these people not much different from the Night Watchers, just more peculiar.
Subsequently, the shadow’s gaze shifted into the distance.
At this time, the membranes of the Void had spread across the entire world.
The entire space was thoroughly torn apart, opening a massive purple hole hundreds of meters high.
This was a colossal Gate of Void.
Purple Void Creatures surged like a tidal wave.
Around it, many smaller rifts and Gates of Void continuously spewed more Void Creatures.
"Ah, to be honest, it’s my first time standing here witnessing this scene directly."
The shadow’s tone held a hint of excitement.
His words weren’t false.
As an Evil God, whenever they saw the Void, they had to detour around it. The Void didn’t care about these beings; if it saw an Evil God on the surface during an invasion, it would eradicate them without hesitation.
So, truth be told, even as a shadow, he had never truly witnessed this scene.
The players below started clashing with the Void Creatures.
However, after a brief resistance, the players began to disappear, vanishing like corpses, leaving behind nothing.
Yet these players were fearless of death, even joking and laughing amongst themselves.
"Are they truly heroic or utterly insane?"
The shadow whispered to himself while watching the scene unfold.
With that, he waved his fingers again.
In a flash, the Void army spread across the globe, staining most of the sky purple.
A plethora of defense nodes dotted the world.
Elsewhere in the world, the Void had wholly invaded, and outside the world, the Void’s nest shrouded the entire world.
The Void continued pushing forward.
The power it gathered was steadily consuming this world.
The surrounding environment kept changing.
Kana simply sat quietly on one side, saying nothing.
Allowing the shadow to manipulate everything at will.
"Aren’t you going to try and resist?"
The shadow asked while manipulating the surrounding environment.
"If you’re done watching, let me go, then get out of this world."
"Ah, you’re truly rational."
The shadow couldn’t help but feel some admiration.
Having one’s deepest secrets peered into, and one’s mind locked onto, yet remaining so calm and judicious.
At this moment, Kana could do nothing but shout in fury.
Moreover, once the shadow exited from here and obtained the secrets, there would indeed be no waves left to make; all his backup plans were exhausted.
By then, in the process of Godslayer, he would be the first to be eliminated, having no influence on the world anymore.
Even if he discovered a significant flaw, he could only stare blankly.
This was the price he had to pay.
But the shadow, currently madly probing secrets, felt it was all worth it.
"Is this how you foresaw it? Was it that you got caught in the river of time and came back in reverse? No, it shouldn’t be like that; otherwise, you’d be marked by the river of time, and even a mere Maintainer could wipe you out."
The shadow continued speaking to himself, asking and answering.
And Kana just listened quietly.
