The Gamer's POV
Chapter 317: The Gamer’s POV
So many things finally made sense, and a few of the questions Cedric had were finally answered. He looked to Seo-yeon, whose expression suddenly grew shadowy as she traveled back into her memories.
"The way of the current world became a problem even to the Gods."
She turned to face Cedric, who had a questioning expression on his face, then asked, "What do you think happens when many of your subjects of influence can no longer know about you?"
Cedric’s eyes widened a bit as it clicked.
Seo-yeon nodded.
"The second son was known as the All Seeing Eye of the First Dawn, the Omniscient Architect, and the God of Creation and Manifestation. He foresaw that things would grow worse in the coming eras. He knew that things would not end well for the family and that their last brother would bring chaos upon them and all the worlds. So, he went to the person he trusted the most. He went to his first brother."
When the second brother was introduced, Cedric suddenly felt the familiar throb at the back of his head. But then he noticed that for some reason, the pain suddenly dulled on its own.
He couldn’t explain why, but he was so grateful and prayed that the pain would remain dulled.
"The first brother was known as the God of Divine Restoration and Benevolence," Seo-yeon continued, her voice gaining a rhythmic, almost hypnotic quality. "He is the God of the Good and Absolute Evil. The Beginningless Cycle of Birth, Death, and Rebirth. The second brother believed that if anyone can stop the chaos, and restore order and balance, it would be the first."
Seo-yeon paused, and her gaze turned dark. "They met up, and the first brother came up with a plan. It was a terrifying plan. I cannot tell you the full details, but I can tell you that for it to succeed, they both needed to die. They also needed to destroy their realms."
"What?"
Cedric was suddenly struck speechless. A moment ago, he was wondering how two realms had fallen. Now, he was hearing that the Gods themselves destroyed their own realms?
What sort of plan could be so desperate that it required the suicide of two Creators?
Seo-yeon sighed and said somberly, "They killed themselves, and since their realms were already being invaded by the laws of causality and the chaos brought by the last brother, they chose to destroy them rather than let them be corrupted. Then, using the authority of the first born, both of them were reborn." 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞
Cedric felt a cold numbness spreading through his limbs as he started to piece things together. The path of the conversation was leading toward a cliff, and he wasn’t sure he was ready for the fall.
Seo-yeon looked at him for a long moment, her eyes searching his as if looking for a ghost. "You, Min-jun, are the first born of the Royal Family. Your junior brother is Leon Von Caprio."
"..."
Cedric was completely stupefied.
In fact, his brain buffered and stalled as the world seemed to tilt on its axis.
Suddenly, he felt the pain in his head flare, causing him to wince slightly, but to his surprise, just like before, the pain dulled again.
Seo-yeon sighed deeply and looked away. She hugged her legs close to her chest, looking lost for a long moment as the silence between them stretched out.
Eventually, she spoke. "I know that you must have wondered what I am. Since you have advanced to the Third Grade, you must know what a Seraphid is. After all, we were your most beloved creatures."
Her voice cracked as she hugged her legs tighter, and she sniffed as tears began to roll down her cheeks.
Cedric turned to look at her, the pieces finally clicking into place.
Suddenly, the strange familiarity he had felt when seeing the statue of the Seraphid in his inner sanctuary made sense. Seo-yeon was a Seraphid, and he had indeed known her across all his lives.
Seo-yeon wiped her eyes and adjusted her glasses, her voice sounding small and fragile. "To ensure that the plan of your other self worked, you needed a guide. Since I was one of your most loyal servants, you made it so that I would be reborn on Earth alongside you. Since your brother could see the future, I was given his knowledge to bring with me in order to guide you. Your other self decided that the best way to give you most of this knowledge was to turn it into the game you played called Seraphim of Doom. Then, together with your brother, you both created your attribute, Gamer Privileges. The goal was to ensure that after you returned to the Cradle, you would be able to survive by viewing everything through the Gamer’s POV."
She reached up and held the black and gold pendant on her neck. She smiled and after a few seconds, she showed it to him. "Remember when you asked about this pendant?"
Of course he could remember it, but before he could respond, she added, "I told you that the Lord of my family and his brother made it for me. You both made it for me."
She rubbed the cool metal with her thumb. "It is what allows me to have access to my own form of gamer privileges called Narrator Privileges. It is also why I am able to narrate all this to you without your head exploding. As long as I stick to minor, prepared topics that involve you and your brother, it would protect you."
She sighed and looked at the pendant for a moment, before letting it drop back against her chest.
After a moment, she continued:
"Your brother foresaw that his last brother would find out about both of you. He foresaw that since your last brother cannot directly interfere at the moment, he would bring people from Earth to lord over this realm and get rid of you. So, I was tasked to work at that company in order to join those that will be brought here by him. Just like your Gamer Privileges hide your existence, my Narrator Privileges hide the fact that I’m a Seraphid. And so, just as it was foreseen, the God of Unearned Misfortune brought me here as a Lord."
