Chapter 483: Cost Of Inquiry.

One of them said to another divine being, "Life’s Worth, did you kill Gold Body?"

Another divine being said, "That’s true. Didn’t you try to kill him earlier, Life’s Worth? You must be happy that he is dead now."

A third divine being took this opportunity to chime in, saying, "I do wonder why you picked someone else to replace Gold Body, though. I always thought that you went after Gold Body because of his Divine Metac."

More divine beings began to ask Life’s Worth more questions about Gold Body’s death. Instead of checking what had happened themselves, they decided to pester Life’s Worth about Gold Body’s death.

Of course, Life’s Worth wasn’t happy about Gold Body’s death. She is especially incensed that Gold Body had been replaced by someone else.

She was the one who beat up Gold Body until he became too weak. Now that someone had finished what she started, she felt cheated.

She felt that she had been taken advantage of. And as someone who always coveted the Gold Body Metac, this automatically made Loki her enemy.

As someone who cared a lot about what had happened, she was willing to spend some of her lifespan to know what had happened. She wasn’t the only one who wanted to know how Gold Body had died and had been replaced.

Loki was now connected to the constellation of stars, so he was immediately notified that some people wanted to check his information. Then he was given the option to block their inquiries.

In fact, he was also given the opportunity to search for their information through the constellation of stars. He said yes to both options.

He chose to expend some lifespan to block their inquiry. He also spent some more of his lifespan checking some surface information about them.

He checked for their identities, so he immediately discovered that the people probing for his information were Monarch Life’s Worth, who had nearly killed the previous Monarch Gold Body, and two other divine beings.

He couldn’t determine the identity of the other two divine beings because his inquiry about them was blocked. But his inquiry about Monarch Life’s Worth went through.

However, regardless of success or failure, his attempt still cost him some lifespan. Both he and the people who blocked his inquiry consumed some of their lifespan. So he wasted ten years of his lifespan for nothing.

Only Monarch Life’s Worth didn’t consume lifespan because she didn’t block his inquiry. So the ten years of lifespan he spent helped him to acquire information about how she wanted him dead and why she wanted to kill him.

The same thing happened in the inquiry about his information. He had blocked the inquiry of the three divine people, which led to both him and them consuming their lifespan.

He had spent 50 years of his lifespan blocking Monarch Life’s Worth inquiry. As for the other two unknown divine beings, he had to spend 100 years of his lifespan blocking each of them before they gave up on getting his information.

So all in all, this single wordless exchange had cost him 260 years of lifespan. He had 333 years of lifespan before the meeting, but now he only had 73 years left of it just after ten seconds.

This made him say to himself, ’These divine beings really mean business. But the other two unknowns mean business more than Life’s Worth. They must be richer than she is. I suppose she wasn’t unscathed from that fight with the previous Gold Body."

This exchange had helped him acquire obvious and hidden information about the three people who were trying to know more about him. At the very least, he knows that those two unknown divine beings are Rick because they can spend 100 years’ worth of lifespan on trying to get his information before they give up.

As for Monarch Life’s Worth, she wasn’t even willing to spend 10 years to block his inquiry and was only willing to spend 50 years of her lifespan to get his information before she gave up.

What he didn’t know was that, by blocking their inquiry, these three people had decided to take him seriously as a worthy opponent. If he had allowed them to search his information anyhow, they would have taken him as a newbie whom they could boss around.

Since he resisted, they discovered that they would have to spend a lot of their precious lifespan before they could take him down. They also couldn’t tell how large his Cave Heaven was or which divine being had helped him kill and replace Gold Body, so none of them decided to attack him now.

Meanwhile, the divine beings were still chatting and teasing Monarch Life’s Worth. They were mostly divine beings from the Four Directions Sect, though. The divine beings of the other four sects just watched on from their corner of the world.

In the past, the speakers of the voices would be invisible to Loki, and it would have seemed like the voice was coming straight from the sky. But this time, he could see the people speaking, so the voices didn’t seem so mysterious anymore.

He still couldn’t see the faces of the speakers, though. But he knew which stars in the constellation of stars were speaking, and he could spend some lifespan to determine the identity of the speakers.

He himself didn’t say anything. He wanted to wait and see what was going to happen. If no one makes a move on him, he will leave and go on with his life.

As it turned out, his caution was prudent because some divine beings decided to descend on his position. There were two of them coming for him.

The two divine beings tore through space and appeared on his left and right. He recognized the one on his right. She was a lady with a body that seemed to be made out of strings of gold coins. Her name was Monarch Life’s Worth.
